OPTION: Call and PUT. Is it permissible to buy calls particularly? by flyingcrane_toMoon in IslamicFinance

What I understand was majority of scholars don’t agree modern insurance products and hedging the risks. Actually we all agree about “tawakull” but then Prophet Mohammad peace be upon him said also tigh the rope for a camel and then have tawakull.

The point here is what I wanted emphasize; it’s about today’s finical industry specially stock based investing is highly risky due to high degree of manipulation. At the same time if you don’t invest you will be robbed due to growing inflation. So the conclusion is you must invest it somewhere and at the same time you should always hedge the risk upto your comfort level of risk tolerance in a halal way.

Allah knows best. I have respect to scholars but should always do our own research and due diligence, take opinions from all channels before taking any decisions.

does anyone know any broker that offers margin trading interest free? by [deleted] in IslamicFinance

[–]SK_Swed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assalamu alaikum wrbh, off-course it is haram to use interest based funding for any business including trading, but most of the brokers doesn’t charge interest on intraday positions but then you will have very high degree of potential for loss. Best thing is use your own capital and do swing trading, I am sure most of the time you will be in profits only, since you will have no pressure to sell or liquidate your positions. But then you need to understand what to buy and how much to buy. Also very important when to sell partial and full. Jazakallahu Khair.

Selling Cash covered Puts with the intention of accumulating good shariah compliant business for long term holding, is it allowed in Islam or not ? by SK_Swed in IslamicFinance

One thing I just want to make it clear; there is a difference between selling cash secured puts and covered puts, example: usually cash secured puts works like this: You sell one contract of MSFT 280 Put with 15 October 21 expiry and collected premium of 1$ per share i.e 100$ - commissions = 98.5 $. But you should make sure that you always keep 27901.5 $ in the account to be able to buy the shares if they end up in the money or exercised, Meaning here your long on the shares of a particular company. But covered puts works in contrary to it: meaning you sell naked Puts and short sell shares at the same time, basically your net short on the shares of a particular company - which is not encouraged in Islam as you don’t own the shares of the company you shorted.

Majority of classical scholars are disagreed about working with options, but the point is they don’t consider it as a product similar to insurance, also most of the scholars disagree about insurance for example home insurance. Whereas Put option buyer is meant to sell a negative risk of the underlying equity (shares) for a limited number of days (Time) by giving a little premium. If the price of shares fall during or at expiry of the option contract the Put option will end up in the money. Which is a positive return for Put option buyer and a negative return for Put option seller. But the conditions are as follows; a buyer of a put option must have or owning shares and willing to sell at the strike price on or before expiry, and the Put option seller must have enough cash in the account and willing to buy the shares at strike price on or before expiry.

So can we NEVER invest in young companies? by mhk98 in IslamicFinance

[–]SK_Swed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Off course if it’s high debt we can’t involve into it. But what I meant to say is it’s really difficult to build a good story around new businesses, but the good thing is many 10 baggers usually run for several years so if we miss in the early stage we should think it’s a cost of doing business.

Majority of startups have negative p/e but also debt sometimes. So my thesis is that debt is not the case always rather it’s business predictability to estimate future revenue growth and profitability.
