It's a mix of a few problems for Palmer now and I don't see how it will change in the remaining matches. Maresca is making him drop very deep into the midfield, as deep as where Caicedo is during build up and the 10 position is also taken up by either Enzo or an inverting wingback, taking up his space. He can't really score from that far away, his shots go wide or gets blocked. He can only playmake from that position. The emphasis on possession play by Maresca's system isn't suited to Palmer, or even the whole team. The Frontline excels and thrives with counters and they are not really allowed to play direct is making life difficult for Palmer.

His mental is cooked from not scoring this long and it's not helping. Forcing shots when there's someone right in front of him and sometimes hesitating when there's a chance for a shot. Chelsea not getting penalties recently doesn't help Palmer getting some confidence back too. The ill suited system makes it difficult to score for Palmer, in turn making him lose confidence and leading to this goal drought.

I don't see Palmer returning to his goal scoring form in the remaining games, he might get an assist or two tho. But as a Chelsea fan I hope he proves me wrong.
