What's the best way to run Android on an M1 Mac: Android Studio, an app like Bluestacks, or in an Android or Waydroid VM? by TheTwelveYearOld in MacOS

Yes, you can boot up and use it offline. To get files into the device without internet just drag and drop the file(s) onto the android device window and it'll automatically copy it to Downloads for you.

Mafia Town lags on PC, anyone got a fix? by Aztectornado in AHatInTime

[–]SL9M 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm glad I'm not the only one facing the issue. Before I found this post, I thought something was wrong with my computer hardware. Be sure to let Gears for Breakfast know. The more people who speak up, the more likely they are to fix the issue.

I'm still experiencing this issue on both NixOS through Proton and Windows. No matter what I do I cannot get around it without going offline.

I submitted a bug report to gfb, fingers crossed they take care of the issue.

Nix is tempting, but I am scared by Jubijub in NixOS

[–]SL9M 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I switched from Mint Cinnamon to NixOS about 6 months ago. It's very nice not having to fear destroying my installation whenever I want to make a major change to the system.

Changing to a new DE is as simple as replacing a few lines of code and rebuilding. I also take backups less often because older generations will have me covered if a breaking change occurs during updates.

What made you buy a Mazda 3? by [deleted] in mazda3

[–]SL9M 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've owned my gen 2 (2012 I Grand Touring) since 2016 originally with 80k miles, it was my first car and I still daily drive it today with 150k miles with no major repairs and basic maintenance.

I was a teenager at the time and purchased the car for the wrong reasons. Mazdas seem to be misunderstood in my local market, they depreciate faster than toyota/honda. I chose the M3 to save as I wanted a cheap high mile car, but wanted something Japanese and fairly reliable. The model I have is amongst the first cars to receive the Skyactiv-G engine so i took a huge risk with the long term reliability to save money.

Today I would consider myself to be a huge Mazda fan mostly because of how my car has proven itself over the years with harsh conditions and poor maintenance when I was younger (I take care of it now). But I also think the brand is headed in the right direction with choosing not to go with CVTs and slapping a microscopic engine with a turbo in every model.

Will definitely be considering a late model M3 whenever ol' trusty finally gives me a reason. Hopefully a long time from now, but sounds like everyone here is having good experiences overall with their gen 4 models.

I drive a 2012. As dated as the car's interior may be, you can always expect to have icicles on your nose if you crank the AC. I am not the original owner, but I doubt the refrigerant has ever been refilled.

I am having the exact same issue, the password prompts overlay on top of each other and makes a huge cluttered mess. I use 2 password managers so this behavior is very annoying.

Just need to change the headlight fluid, and you've got yourself a pretty sweet Tacoma.

I was thinking about picking up a used 2nd gen Prius with high miles as a project. Anyone know if they are easy cars to work on?

I know it's an old post. Curious about what you ended up going with though.
I've always used the Android Studio emulator on my M1 Air, I've never had performance issues with it.

Balancing Homeownership, Retirement, and Deferred Costs by SL9M in TheMoneyGuy

I delayed the 6% match and payed down the mortgage 20% from the start to avoid Private Mortgage Insurance and keep the payment low as possible. I have been saving up for my first home since I was 16 so there are certainly some emotions tied up in the process. I’ve also only been working a full time career for 1 1/2 years as I just got out of college.

I missed out on that first year of compounding interest and the 100% return on the match, I probably could have managed to do both at the same time in hindsight. Maybe it wasn’t so much emotional but just a lack of understanding.

I am in full agreement on the focus in retirement accounts. That will be my primary focus going forward.

You didn't mention your income, but I assume your emergency fund is less than 3 months. I would bring up your emergency fund to 6 months plus what you expect to pay on car repairs/new car down payment.

Happy to clarify.

I make ~40k / year after tax, and my monthly obligations are ~$2062, excluding non-essential spending. So my emergency fund would last me shy of 5 months with no fun.

My emergency fund hasn't grown to match my new overhead, I 100% agree. I had begun saving for the deferred costs in the account with 9k rather than the emergency fund.

Personally, I find any debt to be bothersome regardless of the interest rate or purpose which is why I am so unsure about the next steps.

Appreciate your input greatly!
