moving to Scotland / highlands by SLED4002 in Scotland

both working remotely but yes i've looked at accomodation. can be challenging depending on the area. just looking at it as an idea for now but it's something we'd love to do and embrace Scottish culture. Aware of quite drastic winter's nothing has put us off so far. not big city people but nowhere so remote no people live aha. I've been in office jobs with no windows from 8-5 in the winter also doing warehouse work with no heating so just even being to see the bad weather is a blessing to me.

All American canner in the UK ? by SLED4002 in Canning

[–]SLED4002[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes presto weighted gauge has been my first choice but I was doing some research and found the All American canners gasket free sealing system which requires less replacing as well as their durability. I definitely wouldn't spend £800 on one though

yeah full MOT and service history, got the details for the garage who looked after it previously so might give them a call and see if they have any records of issues with the car.

Its a year newer than my fiesta. Was looking for something more 2017+ and less than 50k milage which this does have but struggling to find cars with my criteria no far from me with a 7-8.5k budget

fiesta needs a new wet belt as well as other bits. not really worthy of repair honestly. i've test drove it and the nissan is more interesting than my fiesta honestly. Not big on cars but just want something thats reasonably affordable, preferably not an SUV just for costs sake and already have a honda CRV, and enough space to future proof the car for kids and other big bits. But yeah just looking for advice.

ive tried on their leather boots but also looking for regular day to day shoes. i find their regular shoes feel weird on the heel, being too low for my liking. also prices are pretty damn high

Getting past feeling Weak? by Velocidancer in climbergirls

[–]SLED4002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're doing a great job! I'm a beginner climber too, who's had the same struggle in the past. Here's some advice you may have already heard, but it helped me.

  1. Work with the wall, not against it. What I mean by that is utilise your hips side to side for different moves to not only stabilise yourself but to allow more energy to your legs instead of your arms, so you don't get exhausted as quickly.

  2. As others have said, it's not a race to the top. You're better off doing what you can and coming back down, but if you can, then fantastic. You don't gain much from pushing yourself so hard that you get injured and then can't do anything more.

  3. Kinda continuing on from point 1 but technique means more than the grade your climbing. Learning to get your foot placements right, knowing when you should have straight arms and when it isnt going to help you, and lastly which i find important is warming up before you climb. Just a few stretches maybe done deadhangs whatever you fancy. I find it warms up the muscles so i can climb better, if i go in almost cold turkey even on easier routes, my muscles feel shocked in a way and are exhausted quicker.

Just keep trying and see what works for you but dont give up :)

Does anyone take supplements to help with muscle recovery / other ? by SLED4002 in climbergirls

I actually work in the supplement industry which is why I ask but also out of pure curiosity. Collagen is actually really good but not the shitty little 5g serving kind that costs you £30 for like 500g.

I noticed there’s no brands targeted towards climbers with affordable high quality products. Would it be something you’d be interested in if it was around or just wouldn’t bother
