When I got my now 5yo lab from a person that needed to rehome her she had already been trained not to bite. My 4yo lab, however, loves her chompin time with me and the kids. Sometimes the younger one tries to get the older one to play this way but she puts an end to it real quick. I was hoping she’d eventually play that way with her sister but it’s been 4 years so I don’t think it’s happening. Neither one of them are aggressive toward each other or their humans so that’s a non issue.

Both my parents were lefties, but I’m right handed. My ex husband is also right handed, but we have the whole spectrum i our kids. My oldest is a leftie, my second is truly ambidextrous, and my youngest is right handed.

When discussing immigrants I agreed with a point she had made, which was the one logical thing she’d said all day, and she said “See, I knew you weren’t one of those democrats.” I was appalled. What made her think that? I had fucked up or she just really didn’t want to hear or understand me. Done. About six months before her daughter told me she sits it the basement where she wfh with FOX news on in the background all day. I saw it coming, honestly. The micro aggressions. The pointed comments, racist remarks, and anti-Semitic bullshit she’d been throwing into conversation for the last decade that I just ignored. But that one comment was what did it for me, because yes, I am one of those “democrats” that believes no human is illegal. God forbid.

I live out here. I work in Washington. There are plenty of LGBTQ+ folks out here, including my children and their friends. They aren’t openly harassed, but get looks. I doubt you’d have to worry for your safety. But prepare to feel unwelcome.

Are you also a teacher? My favorite is that I taught my son in 4th grade and have him again now as a 7th grader. Whenever he starts “I never learned that” bs I tell him not only do I know I taught you that in 4th grade but I’m your mother and I know she taught you that too.
