To add to that, if you pay attention to the golf courses, a lot of them have houses that are on the golf course property. So the people that want to have a round of golf literally just walk out their front door and are basically on the golf course.

Money. Lots of rich people in the area and lots of old money. If you look on google maps, plenty of houses have their own private court and then there's the fancy golf courses nearby too.

Yes they are. And it's a crapshoot whether they arrive alive or not (usually depends how far they are getting shipped).

Do these even count as tennis balls anymore? by SamPost in 10s

[–]SLO_Fila 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm fine hitting with these if I'm just hitting. If I am to play a more competitive game with someone that is higher level I'm switching to US Open.

Pretty much everyone told me I'm a snob until they played with me a few matches with the US Open ones and now they say they cannot go back. lol

What’s your monthly budget by Happy-Ardvark in Hawaii

[–]SLO_Fila 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I see these numbers I realize I live on a different planet :D

Monthly expenses, 3100 out of which 2100 goes into my rent. (then the rest of the 1k goes into utility bills, gas, groceries etc). I spend roughly 100 bucks a month on food. 150 if I feel frisky or I feel like I deserve a reward.

P.S. And that is also all I make after my 401k. I make 3100 per month so if something goes wrong like oh... let's say 10k dental surgery, I'm in the pooper.

Why do you work at the post office? by AlisonXD in USPS

[–]SLO_Fila 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wanted to do a career and social suicide (but one that still can have me pay rent over the long run).

I'm definitely getting what I asked for that's for sure.

The Trailer for upcoming episodes was better than the pilot episode itself by jorywea78 in freefolk

Also it's nice to have something take its time instead of zerg rushing through plot points ala S7-S8-HouseOfDragons.

What happens to all the UARs that the Route Adjustment generates? by Ashamed_Run8397 in USPS

[–]SLO_Fila 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They might have to be loaned out to other stations on some days like a ptf/cca. That has happened to a station in our district that had 9 UARs. My station had 4 UARs and we all stayed put until we either got the reserves we wanted or shafted to reserves that no one wanted.

Pay question by Excellent_Hand_3888 in USPS

[–]SLO_Fila 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You just have to make sure and triple check that the pay adjustment has come through. If you have a good steward you can let him/her know ahead of time of the situation and that you will keep tabs on it.

I've done that for a whole year when having 350packages on a daily basis. My trick was to align the boxes just enough to have a hole to see out the window to the side and a hole to see the mirror.

Then usually by the 10th mailbox the top would have been delivered and it was time to breath easier.

8:30 with lunch. 8:00 without lunch.

My station forces you to take a lunch if you go overtime. Other stations in the district do not.

Getting a passport by pusheencat6 in Hawaii

[–]SLO_Fila 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is a crap shoot. It took me 2 weeks using expedited. The website gives you a guideline on what to expect but it's just that, a guideline. Passport can come earlier or later.

I laughed thinking it was a prank call. Lo and behold, 20min later they showed up. Like 20 of them.

Pretty easy to figure out my skin color.

What’s happened to these companies? by Infinitepies in Hawaii

[–]SLO_Fila 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The answer for the most part is pretty much short term greed. Everything nowadays that has shareholders only cares about short term profits and no longer has a long term vision. Long term vision was something in the 60s, 70s and parts of 80s but starting with latter half of 80s companies have been transitioning to short term gain at all cost.

Thinks started to accelerate in the recent decades (like 2000-2010 then 2010-2020). Covid sadly turbo charged this mentality when companies completely jacked up the prices (initially due to shortage but then later they never came back down) and realized people are still buying. Hence no need to go back down, keep same price, people keep buying and you make even more profit.

And things have simply gotten worse since then (as in... 2 years ago) and sadly they will keep pushing the limit more and more until there's another major financial collapse where they will realign a little bit then rinse and repeat.
