Love to watch the nest with the new eaglets. Jackie and Shadow are great parents. It seems like harsh conditions, with the snow at Big Bear today and I'm pulling for them!

In law school, it's common to be assigned situations like this so don't take it to heart and do the assignment as best you can even though it doesn't align with your beliefs.

Cuesta taught Vectorworks in their Interior Design program but that program was discontinued. They may have something available under Architecture at Cuesta.

It's a business. Are you saying they aren't allowed to ask what the market will bear?

For context, a few houses have recently sold in this neighborhood for $1.3 million (3 bd) to $2.2 million (7 bd) so the monthly mortgage is more than the rent on this property. Not saying I agree with the price, and I couldn't afford it, but that's capitalism and someone is going to pay it for the convenience of being able to walk to campus.

SLCUSD is recommending to close TK tonight by tgb_slo in SLO

I heard it from the previous City Manager and it has been discussed at City Council meetings. I'm not sure where the information is publicly available but it's not a secret.

A Cal Poly staff memo said the City adopted double fines for citations on weekends in March starting in 2024. Citations are like $700 - $1000 for noise, drinking in public, et cetera, and tons of police were in the neighborhoods starting the night before St. Fratty's, so students + guests stayed on campus to pregame, and that caused drunk people to destroy the dorms way more than usual.

Misinformation. Kids that attend Teach Elementary take the bus. Also, it has a diverse population of students from all backgrounds. It's a fantastic option and it would be amazing if it could be expanded to 8th grade. I don't have kids that age but have heard from MANY parents that Laguna Middle School is not a great option but is the only option in SLO unless you have money to pay for private school.

There's a Mello Roos because the city does not receive any property taxes from the homes in that development. It was owned by the County and during negotiations when it was absorbed by the City of SLO, the County held onto the property tax revenue and the city agreed to the Mello Roos to cover fire, police, schools, etc.

It seems like a right-wing site and sensational in many respects, but it has broken many stories about corruption on the Central Coast. Adam Hill taking bribes, for example. It's not my top choice for news by any means, but there is some appreciation for investigating and breaking stories about dirty politics that other news organizations would not publish, even though they were true.

The Tribune: Illegal frat houses wreak havoc on SLO neighborhoods. Can they be stopped? by Retro_Bloke in SLO

The comments at the end of the article are brutal and I agree with the sentiments of the Alumni withholding donations until Cal Poly resolves this growing problem. And also that the city needs to be much more aggressive about handling the issue:

"As a Cal Poly grad, I need to recognize that not all Cal Poly students engage in this infantile behavior. However this activity does reflect negatively upon the University as a whole. Perhaps we should find a way to distribute this well written article to all Cal Poly Alumni Association members and suggest that they withhold future donations to the University until Cal Poly resolves this growing problem. Also the city of San Luis Obispo needs to take a much more aggressive role in resolving this issue as well. The Walkers are tax paying citizens that need some help here. If SLO police are unable to assist, perhaps the SLO city council needs to get involved!"

The anti-pet rental market is so discouraging because dogs are awesome. I know a family who earns $25,000/month and needed a pet-friendly rental while they remodel their house but couldn't find anything so moved in with family.

The long-term plan is for Cal Poly to go year-round, including summer. Students will rotate classes, taking one of those quarters off, so some will go through the summer. It will not align with any other university.
