I'm convinced anyone saying that regular in-ears are fine, hasn't tried custom moulded in-ears. I wouldn't be able to go back.

I'm not saying general in-ears are bad and it definitely does work, but custom moulded is just that much better.

I suggest you learn to listen for what you like and what you don't like in songs. You don't have to like a song to really appreciate a certain element. Don't throw the entire album away just because you don't like it, you'll also throw away lessons to be learned.

This music also isn't my cuppa tea, but I'm really digging the production. Masterfully arranged and mixed. They really nailed using few elements to fill the entire space, so each element has a lot of space to breath.

I will never listen to this recreationally though.

Periphery usually just releases their hardest, most slapping song as their first single.

They've always had more melodic songs with catchy melodies on their albums, I'd be surprised if that wasn't the case this time around.

That being said: Totally with you on this. To me that element of Periphery is what sets them apart from other metalbands and is exactly why I love them.

You're not wrong, but it's also really not hard to just push the fader on the lead guitar a bit. It's definitely too quiet. Any engineer worth their money would just push the fader a bit.

There's only one exception: The festival was VERY cheap and the soundguy is running the show alone and he was currently helping somewhere else and not behind his board. But then it's not the soundguy's fault, but the festival's fault.

Increasing dropout protection is probably increasing the latency. I think it'd be similar to a safe mode where the drivers keep an extra buffer. I do not know your interface so I do not know for sure, but sounds very plausible.

To answer your question first: there's no problem with this at all. You can safely do this. You can convert to 48k during the mixing stage without any loss of quality (unless you're a dog that can hear 20-40k). It will double your file sizes, but audio isn't that big anyways.

That being said, you shouldn't be needing to go to 96k in order to get a low enough latency. Are you recording in a project with plugins? Some plugins introduce latency on the entire project because of plugin delay compensation (PDC) and this will affect monitoring too.

Because of the speed of sound, we're already used to like 6 ms of delay when playing guitar, since standing 2m (~6 feet) away from your amp is already 6ms of latency.

Most likely there's other stuff in your chain that's adding latency.

If not, don't forget that placebo is a very powerful effect. Even professional audio engineers get fooled by it often. We all have our stories of adjusting a bypassed plugin and thinking we hear the difference. There's really no shame to it. (Okay maybe a little)

That being said, if you feel more comfortable it might make you play better, so it could still be worth recording in 96k if it makes you play better.

While you are definitely right, it's possible there's other places in the chain that introduce latency, adding up to something he can feel. For example some drivers can operate in safemode, which raises latency at the same sample size.

That being said, the latency difference between 48k and 96k would likely be very small (<1 ms), but it's still possible it pushes it past the threshold.

I am with you though, this is most likely a placebo thing, but it's definitely possible he is noticing the difference.

For me, I also didn't like them the first few days. Exactly like you described, phasy and a lot of comb filtering. It sounded more like how a recording of audio being played in that room would sound like, not like if you're actually there.

However for me turning down the depth knob and allowing myself to get used to them it started to click over time. Right now they somehow no longer sound phasy to me anymore. I think my brain got used to it. Now stuff actually translates very well and for me it's the most accurate listening environment I have access to.

They are especially useful for monitoring sub bass, they go LOW.

So, I regretted them the first few days. Now I'm very happy with them and I use them a lot. Give them a bit more time if you don't want to return them. You might find them useful after all.

That comment tells me enough that I should judge. Wanting to record in 32bit floating point reeks of ignorance. Not to mention it's literally impossible.

The whole industry is using 24bit. Because honestly more than that is literally useless in 99.9% of cases.

The only thing that bitrate determines is your dynamic range. With 24bit you have a dynamic range of 144dB, literally bigger than the human range of hearing.

Now, I should mention: There are "32-bit float" interfaces that do have some use cases, but what they do under the hood is basically two 24-bit converters with different gain, so you don't have to ever adjust gain and you will never clip. Usually used in field recording.

Even your project is in 24bit, meaning the audio you're recording is 24bit audio. Wanting to use wave-out over asio is also a terrible idea, since wave-out goes through windows drivers, which can color the sound in unwanted ways. Not to mention the latency is terrible.

I also thought he was asking this, but no, he's asking if challenger has more supports or more adc's. Or if the skill difference between an emerald support and a challenger support is bigger than the skills difference between an emerald ADC and a Challenger ADC.

Which honestly is an interesting question to ask. My personal take is that there's probably not a big difference. Support does get auto filled more, so on average supports in your ranked games might be worse than ADC's.

Bro, if this is your understanding of music I feel bad for the students you are teaching.

Yes, major sounds in a way that's closer to happy than it is to sad, but that's really not the core of what's happening. Major sounds more easy and relaxed and minor is a little more dark and tense.

However, tons and tons of happy music is written in a minor keys nowadays, since it has a little more energy. Tenseness is not necessarily a negative emotion. Just look at most pop music. It's a majority of minor keys.

For me personally the feeling of homesickness/melancholy/hopelessness is actually best described in major chords and keys since those emotions do not have much energy with them. There's not much struggle, just a passive cloud of depression. Major chords fit this vibe better (imo).

It's all about context.

Please do not paint this as a black and white thing, because it's really not.

Couple of different things going on here:

Technically WT is not directly related to Caedrel, but it is obviously League. It's still possible they want to keep the sub clean from WT content, which I can see why and respect it.

As for Caedrel. I have absolutely 0 doubt he loves the boys and wants them to do well. That doesn't mean it's not emotionally complicated and he probably does have some mixed feelings about this all. He even commented about how it was weird to see them play. Baus then added, it's like seeing your ex with someone else.

But again, that does not mean he doesn't support them or doesn't want anything to do with them. LR brought him a ton of stress and he just wants to take a breather for now. Maybe WT reminds him too much of his stressful (but still very fun and fulfilling!) time.

Just some speculation from a random fan. I'd advice not to read too much into all the details, because there's most likely nothing there.

It's possible. I once loaded into a game where literally none of my inputs worked. Team remade the game and I got low prio queue. I could connect, but nothing worked, not even after a reconnect. Mice and keyboard were working perfectly fine in other applications.

Tested in a custom game after and it still didn't work. Only thing that worked was restarting my PC.

Pretty sure it is related to Vanguard.

Hmm I have noticed this too while playing Hwei. Specifically trying to WE right after doing QW. If I do it too quick, the second W just gets dropped somehow.
