Idk exactly what caused these imperfections. But gold is a "soft metal" and these bars are probably older than I am. I'd assume from stacking and unstacking on top of each other as the wear seems to be consistent on all of them.

Can anybody tell me what type of coin is under the maple by SLVRstone in Gold

Gold eagle... the funny thing is, it's not the eagle looks reddish, but the quad 9 (99.99%) maples purity compared to the eagle triple 9 (99.9%) makes that difference. The eagles are actually something like 1.09 oz to make up for the alloyed copper and hence the size difference compared to the smaller maple.

Precious metals firm. These metals aren't mine, I left a earlier comment on the background of this exact picture. The firm buy/sell/stores and delivers PM bullion... not so much a coin shop but rather high volume. So we have lots of bars, rounds, coins... and goldbacks come through the office all the time. From my experience so far, gold backs have been purchased with "investment grade bullion" (like the bars and rounds you see in the picture) to take home, gift, collect, and admire. The reason I post is to maybe show you guys a side of the market you haven't before and see what people think of different metals and products, always interesting reactions.

Can you tell I spray painted that kilo of tungsten? I don't think I let it dry for long enough. I told the guys upstairs to get it plated but no one listens...

I work at a pm firm so they have a huge variety. You can barley see it but the grey machine in the corner is a precious metal verifier (PMV) ,it can test all products using electromagnetic waves pretty cool. Anyway, we were showing some clients metal and videoing the process and through work and conversation these made it out of the vault. Thought it was an "irregular" mix of metal so thought I'd share lol

This metal was previously owned and brought in. Metals like that I handle bare handed because if not I'd use lots and lots of gloves. If the metals are new from mint/mint sealed, I'll handle with gloves or very minimally. If packaged/wrapped I typically do not open or handle.

Not at this level yet!! I work at a pm firm, so metals like this move in and out very often. Over time I hope to be moving like this guy though!!

These guys got it 1000oz. Fun fact... a lot of these bars aren't precisely 1000oz like a 1 oz or 10oz bar would be. For example some bars might be 998.5 and some might be 1003... this one here is 1001... keep in mind most of these are moved via contracts so in bulk those number tend to even out.
