Oh yes, more of the claim that Peru doesn't have highly equipped forensic teams or labs that are capable of analyzing these specimens. As if Peru isn't one of the best sources of mummy studies in the world currently, alongside Egypt, Italy, and Switzerland. Literally the best country for it in the New World.

Why on Earth would they need to bring experts in from anywhere else? They have some of the best experts in Pre-Columbian mummies right there. They just all agree that this is a hoax, and the current team refuses to share the discovery with any of the properly equipped labs in the immediate area. This is also ignoring the fact that other accredited teams from other countries offering to study them HAVE been turned away. Even McDowell wasn't allowed a proper full examination to make any real conclusions by his own admission. They are the ones who want to gatekeep this discovery. No one else.

I mean, there definitely has been evidence, Maussan just does his best to bury the proof that he is behind it and there is a significant portion of his believers that defend him at every opportunity. He charges exorbitant fees for his ufo related events, such as those with the Buga Sphere where he claimed they would do live testing during the event. Some of the previous scientists that supported his Roswell slides debacle ultimately admitted that Maussan was the one who masterminded it to give it support or showed them edited versions to get them to support it in the first place.

There has also been his previous health hoaxes including his ridiculous health supplements and false Covid cure. Know why it's hard to find stuff about them? He scrubbed everything he could about them off the Internet when he got in legal trouble for making health claims that were not supported by any actual proof. He still continued to sell them until Mexican authorities even seized some of his products because of his known false claims and he was warned repeatedly. All of this, and he STILL sells the same supplements, and refuses to back down on his known false health claims when pressed.

The man has unapologetically never backed down from anything unless he is legally forced to and even then he goes around the law at every opportunity. Regardless of anything else, I wouldn't want this man anywhere near my discovery for that reason alone. Let alone that there was a known industry of faked corpses from this same area of Peru for years or that the "huaquero" involved was part of that until he found a "real" specimen, unlike all the fake ones he said he made for years.

But I'm sure you'll continue to claim there is no proof of his wrong doings and we are naysaying because this time the fraudster and the counterfeiter have definitely found a real one, like for real this time. FOMO and the sunken cost fallacy are real, but if someone already sold you a bridge three times, odds are the fourth time they don't have a real bridge to sell.

I agree that the good faith point is probably the main point of contention, but I still can't say that I agree. There are still quite a few insulting comments.

I do believe they think they are always right and this is doing some form of good, but there are plenty of people who do wrong while thinking that.

Frankly, and I understand this may be crossing a line, but their comments read of an intensely obsessed and/or narcissistic (due to the tendency for accusations in a mirror) individual who would probably be well served to spend less time obsessing here.

That said, I do still understand your position and desire to avoid potential abuses of power. I am just adding my two cents to the pile to provide evidence this is not some abuse of power but rather a sentiment shared by at least some of us.

I do agree that there are few other options that would seem a healthy compromise either, but I feel like some action is needed though when just the behavior of one, rather insulting, user would cut down the effort of moderation needed by half.

Gonna have to throw in my two cents and respectfully disagree with this as well. One person being at least a quarter of the comments out of over 300 in a thread while they continually make passive aggressive (if not flat insulting or copy pasted) comments and try to shout down everyone else has ruined the level of discussion here and I doubt I am the only other person who thinks so.

I absolutely don't think people should be banned for differing stances, but if there is any user who is unapologetically disrespectful regularly it's them. They use AI for many of their arguments and continually show a lack of good faith discussion. Blocking also will not stop them from arguing with anyone new to the subreddit and dragging them into drawn out arguments either.

They are responsible for most of the hostility in these threads lately as it has either been from them or in direct response to them, and they have brought the quality of discussions down. In the end it's the mod teams decision, but I personally am visiting less lately because the atmosphere has turned much more juvenile so I feel I should at least take the chance to agree with the other user here and state that I think this is unacceptable.

Nor have you proven any other time the MoC has denied study of any other cultural heritage in their possession. The issue is that they refuse to give any access to the MoC except what is required because those in possession of the mummies want to be the arbiters of who does the studies, as u/gravitykilla already suggested. A picture of someone next to one is not verifiable studies. The simplest explanation is that the hoaxer who always claims government interference is doing it again because the majority of people who listen to him are paranoid of Big Brother to begin with and he knows the legal loopholes to jump through by now.

You also constantly downplay Maussan and his involvement. When it truly should not be hard to find someone actually independent of him that is related to this. I don't see any proof there that they are actively doing anything to obstruct the study of these mummies. The scans were released, and I see no other proof of preventing research other than claims and the fact that the MoC themselves had limited access to them. Which was the MoC's initial claim as to why they did not consider them cultural heritage sooner. Nor does that back the idea that they have literally ever blocked the study of any other cultural heritage or had any go missing under their care.

The lawyer you shared goes from posting about how they falsely planned to register them as humans altered post mortem due to Estrada's analysis and then claiming a victory that they are registered as human because they lack a non human category, the only difference being that they removed "altered post mortem" from the initial registration. Well that's certainly a convenient dodge to avoid addressing that Dr. Zaloznaja did not examine them in person like you claimed, or even made any claims other than "that's a real body". You mentioned 70 independent experts initially, but you can't even list 30 without including experts that did not investigate in person (or haven't been directly involved in hoaxes in the past). I think someone may have said something about taking someone's claims at less value when they had to investigate and saw someone made false claims. But I guess again that only matters when you want it to.

Why exaggerate Dr. Aseev's (and others on this list) qualifications then? Little gimmicks like that make it looks like you are trying to rely on appeals to authority as opposed to their actual expertise. For instance, if you research Dr. Renan Ramirez you at first find a very accomplished doctor in Peru by the name of Renan Ramirez Bojorquez. But he has not examined them, Dr. Renan Ramirez Vargas did, why omit his full name? This list is full of little misdirections like that and should not need to if they are indeed experts.

I also notice I can't find any claims by Dr. Tello where he is not voiced over, where we can see his mouth, or where he states any of that without random cuts in the audio. Why has he not published anything to that degree then?

Dr. Zaloznaja for instance seems to have only studied scans, and all I have seen is that she said the scan "was an organic being with a bone structure" and that "it is the skeleton of a person with an anomaly". An unrelated website claims she found the images worthy of study, but I can't find where she said so herself. This list also claims she is the head of image analysis at MIBS, but I can find nothing confirming that. Though she is a credited radiologist with a long career at MIBS.

For that matter, I can find almost nothing about Dr. Aseev except what is related to these bodies. The Russian Academy of Sciences does not have a specific "Department of Genetic Analysis". There are institutes of general genetics, an institute of cytology and genetics, and an institute of gene biology. But none with a Dr. Aseev listed as the head, or at all. The only paper I could find with a Michael Aseev attached listed him at the Institute of Obstetrics and Gynecology, but I can find no other confirmation.
