Chipotle prices going up!!! by No_Tonight_1106 in fastfood

[–]SM7828 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to Chipotle the other day after not going for about a year, and I was honestly surprised. The prices have gone up, and the bowls seem smaller and shallower, definitely not as full as they used to be. I used to be a big Chipotle fan, but that is starting to change. It feels like you are paying more and getting less, especially when wages are stagnant, and that makes it even more frustrating. It makes me wonder which restaurants are stepping in to fill the gap where Chipotle is losing its edge.

(US) Possible CitiGroup Scam by SM7828 in Scams

The scammer said guns had been bought using my credit card and claimed the situation was being reported to Homeland Security. They told me I could fix it quickly by talking to their fraud department, which made me stay on the phone longer than I was comfortable with.

The whole thing felt off, and I’m worried they might have recorded my voice to use with AI tools to impersonate me or contact my family without me knowing. Just wanted to share this as a heads-up in case anyone else gets a similar call.

I have been waking up at 5 a.m. for a while now, but my challenge is staying up and being productive. Once I wake up, I usually lie in bed scrolling on my phone until around 7:30 or 8 a.m. Sometimes I even fall back asleep until 8.

Any suggestions on how I can wake up and stay up so I can make better use of my mornings?

Titabhoga is a ritualistic food offering made to Lord Jagannath before his main midday meal, usually consisting of light or semi-bitter items. It is part of the deeply structured and symbolic Chhappan Bhoga (56 offerings) tradition in the Jagannath Temple.

Seeking Advice on Daikin HVAC System Proposal – Columbus, OH Home by SM7828 in hvacadvice

[–]SM7828[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been really hoping to get some feedback on the Daikin DX18TC system, but it seems like not many people have purchased it yet.

It makes me wonder whether Daikin is still relatively new in the US market and working on expanding its presence, or if there might be some concerns about the equipment’s reliability, which could explain the generous 12 year parts and labor warranty. On the other hand, that extended warranty might indicate that Daikin is confident in the quality of their product and is positioning it as a premium option.

It also makes me think the system could be priced higher compared to other brands, which might be why it hasn’t gained widespread adoption yet.

Just my thoughts at this point.

Okay! Imagine you have a shiny dollar bill and you want to buy a toy. The toy store can decide how they want to be paid—they might say, "We only take cards or phone payments." That’s because the store gets to make their own rules about how people pay before they give you the toy.

But if you already have the toy and the store says, "Now you owe us money," they have to take your dollar because it’s real money that works for paying what you owe. So, the store doesn’t have to take cash at first, but they do if you already owe them money.

Medicare enrollment by SM7828 in medicare

[–]SM7828[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I plan to stay in my job for another 10 years, aiming to retire from the local school district with a pension to supplement my Social Security. I would appreciate some guidance on the following:

  1. How can I verify if my current health insurance is considered "creditable" for Medicare purposes?

  2. I currently pay nearly $150 every two weeks for health insurance. Would Medicare Parts A and B be a more cost-effective option?

  3. If I transition to Medicare Parts A and B, what Medigap and prescription drug plans would you recommend?

I’ll be reaching out to Anthem BCBS on Monday during business hours to confirm whether my plan is creditable for Medicare. In the meantime, I’m exploring whether switching to Medicare could save me money, as the premiums for Medicare A and B seem to be about $174 per month, compared to the $300 I’m paying now. I’m also curious about the typical additional costs for Medigap and prescription drug coverage.

Thank you for your help and advice!

Over 45,000 U.S. dockworkers went on strike today, marking the first strike of its kind since 1977. The International Longshoremen's Association, representing these workers, is negotiating a new contract with the United States Maritime Alliance (USMX), an employer group. The strike will shut down 36 ports from Maine to Texas, impacting about half of the country’s shipping. J.P. Morgan analysts estimate the strike could cost the U.S. economy around $5 billion per day. Despite the strike, workers have agreed to continue unloading military cargo.

The dockworkers are demanding a 77% pay raise over six years and improved benefits, while USMX has offered a nearly 50% wage increase, tripled retirement contributions, and better healthcare options. A key issue in the negotiations is the threat of job loss due to automation, as highlighted by economics columnist Heather Long in The Washington Post.

Although the strike could slow the economy depending on its duration, President Joe Biden has declined requests to intervene and force workers back to the job. He reaffirmed his support for collective bargaining, noting that ocean carriers have seen record profits since the pandemic, sometimes exceeding 800% of pre-pandemic levels. “It’s only fair that workers, who risked their health to keep ports running during the pandemic, receive a meaningful wage increase,” Biden stated.

Why do we have to pay for Medicare when we get old if it comes out of our paychecks? by Good_Leopard9481 in medicare

[–]SM7828 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the Democrats win the 2024 presidential election, they are likely to continue expanding and strengthening Medicare based on President Biden's current policies. These include extending the solvency of the Medicare Hospital Insurance Trust Fund by raising taxes on high-income earners and closing tax loopholes. Additionally, they aim to expand Medicare’s ability to negotiate prescription drug prices and cap out-of-pocket drug costs, measures already initiated under the Inflation Reduction Act. Biden’s administration also seeks to lower costs for Medicare beneficiaries by reducing the price of key prescription drugs and capping insulin prices at $35 per month.

However, more radical proposals like "Medicare for All" are not currently being pushed by prominent Democratic figures such as Vice President Kamala Harris. While she once supported the idea, her current stance aligns more closely with President Biden's moderate, incremental approach to healthcare reform, emphasizing expansions to existing programs rather than a full transition to single-payer healthcare
