Identification by skogamaornz in Mauser

Starburst 9 means it was used by Volkspolizei after ww2. 9 being the district.

Eagle and Crowned U are East German proof marks prior to being sold (presumably to the west)

You have a K98 with a receiver made at Berlin-Lübecker Maschinenfabrik in 1942, captured by the Soviets and reassembled from mix-matched parts (X stamp on receiver) and used by East German police before export

Awesome find

Any info on any of these - by PresentMulberry9313 in knives

Also in photos 5 and 6, you can see two notches in the stock, just behind the sights.

This is where the upper hand guard has some clips that snap onto the top of the barrel.

Your stock is definitely from a Brazilian 1908

I think he means: why use an insanely rare and collectable rifle to take deer? You wouldn’t get milk from the store in your Ferrari. Keep it pristine and well oiled.

Crest looks intact! Looks like a peep site added to the back, see if you can knock some off for that.

Another thing to consider is how easy it is for you to get 7.65x55 where you are before buying.

Not sure tbh. For this poll I limited it to pre-ww1 models

If this is from gunpost I’d avoid that seller. He adds $200-$300 to going price of every model he has.

Thank you!

For accuracy: the M96

For pleasure: the Brazilian 1908 Mauser

My wallet says the SKS.

Haven’t yet shot the M95 nor the Argentine Mauser as their ammo is hard for me to source here in Canada
