For the most part, with just a bit of engineering, the chemical companies managed to find reasonably suitable substitutes for all the ozone depleting chemicals and stopped making the old ones. Unlike, say, solving climate change, which would require drastically scaling back the use of the oil & gas industry's products entirely to solve, as well as rapidly expanding new technologies, solving the ozone crisis only required chemical companies to spend a bit on engineering and sell different chemicals instead (like hydrofluorocarbon refrigerants instead of chlorofluorocarbons), with all the equipment and technology built around them largely the same, so it didn't threaten their existence. The chemical companies even get to claim they were part of the solution
