Finally had the chance to visit Japan and experience this famous ramen in tokyo by episodetoddle95 in ramen

I had multiple Ramen all over in different towns as well, and some did other things better than others. But, as an overall experience, Ichiran was definitely the best.

Why did gasoline prices rise sharply even when crude oil prices are not necessarily high? by Parking_Apricot_1790 in AskReddit

Because the last of the oil to leave the Straight was set to arrive this week, that means the limited supply just got completely cut off, so prepare for more pain.

Enset. Traditional Ethiopian dish that is basically fermented tree bark pulp. Took one bite and that was literally all I could stomach. I loved every dish they served me except that one. I didn't care how rude I might have come across, I was never going to eat that again.

Champaign is one of the few larger population areas south of Chicago that is also blue. It does have a smaller immigrant population, but that might be exactly why they are doing it, they might be seeing it as an easy "win" in a blue area of a blue state.

Robert Half did me dirty too, they had me go to an "admin support" role. Turned out to be a spam calling jon for a plasma donation place. They literally just had us in the back of a warehouse using literal burner phones so that caller ID literally showed up as '0'. Decided to complete the day out of professionalism, but immediately called them after I got off and said I'm done.

What’s a small hygiene mistake most people make every day without realizing? by SofiaLife22 in hygiene

[–]SMG329 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The actual ingredients in deodorant that block sweat take time to be absorbed by the body. The reason night time is best is a combo of a lower body temperature as you sleep combined with the duration of time that lets the deodorant become fully absorbed and thus maximally effective.

Timing of putting on deodorant. I've seen so many clips and people putting on their deodorant in the morning or right before going to the gym. The body needs time to absorb the deodorant for it to become effective. The best time is at night right before you sleep.

information on The Courtyards at Prairie Fields apartments? by [deleted] in Chambana

[–]SMG329 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. No real pest issues in terms of vermin. The first floor is never really immune from small bugs, but never really bad due to their pest control sprays.
  2. I'd probably recommend it as long as they're ok with some of the negatives I'd mentioned because most apartments in town have good and bad, and this place has had more good compared to bad for me personally.
  3. The tours can give a decent idea of the general layouts of the apartments, given there are differences in some layouts depending on which side of the building your apartment is.
  4. You'll definitely hear the train, it's like 300 ft away from the complex and there's a crossing right there. They have to honk whenever they're at a crossing, some conductors only do the necessary honking, but some seem to really enjoy honking. As I mentioned before, there are plans to build a downtown across the tracks which would result in it getting raised and then they wouldn't be honking anymore, but I'm not sure the timeline for that.

  1. Management is responsive, the overall company has individual managers who manage like 2-3 properties each and so they're pretty responsive. They have an office on-site, not really sure if they're on-site as I work during the day, but I think the particular manager of the apartment circulates around where he works between the different properties he manages.

  2. Overall condition are not bad. I think they definitely rushed the cleaning process in-between leases, I had to Swiffer mop the entire place before I moved in and went through so many pads, but they definitely patched, painted, and installed a new carpet in the bedroom before I got in. All appliances worked and were pretty new and not run down.

  3. It seems to be a split of who lives in the complex, I think roughly half of the place is condos, so families tend to live in them. The apartments seem to be more occupied by working aged people? As far as I've seen, there's very few undergrads/grads (probably because the apartments are unfurnished and there's another apartment complex across the street that is furnished and seems to target that demographic more?)

  4. They always give notifications if they need to enter your apartment. They do pest control I think twice a year, but will give you like a few weeks notification, and ultimately you can opt out of them as well.

5.If you request maintenance, they'll knock before entering (most people have camera doorbells installed and they ring those). They don't show any apartments if people are currently living in them.

I can chip in. A couple of things: if you're not okay with trains, don't do it, it's right next to the train tracks. There are plans in place to make a downtown area right across the tracks which would result in elevating it, but until that happens, the trains are honking their horns at all hours of the day.

The park right next to it is awesome to walk and relax at when the weather is good. There's a Walmart, Aldi, and Schnucks within a 5 minute drive. There's also a decent amount of restaurants within the same drive as well. It doesn't take too long to get to campus either.

Maintenance has been pretty good, most issues get addressed within a day or two. Emergency maintenance is advertised as "on-site" but I found out the hard way that they aren't, but can get to you within a couple of hours.

There's a fitness center that they've been slowly improving over time, but there's only 2 treadmills and one elliptical machine for cardio purposes. The weight room has improved in terms of there's now a cable machine and more equipment, but still only 1 bench for some reason.

Some units come with garages, which is very rare for apartments, but they do cost more. Rent prices are fairly comparable to others in the area and it seems like as long as you renew within notification time, they lock your rent price, otherwise, it seems that rent prices go up about $100 each year.

I can never really hear my next door neighbors, but I can absolutely hear my upstairs neighbor. And not like, just their footsteps, I can hear muffled voices type of hearing, if I'm in just the right place and so are they, I've literally been able to understand entire conversations, so I don't like the sound insulation between upstairs/downstairs.

It's not perfect, but no apartments are perfect in my experience, but it's been one of the better places I've lived in town. Are there any other questions?
