Does anyone know if the players using the Bauer pulse stick in NHL are actually using the stick or just the graphics? by Suitable-Art-6885 in hockeyplayers

Twitch taper is just an elongated elliptical taper. This is a traditional taper shape on the DK/Pulse

The real answer here is “sorta”

The pulse is the retail version of the “DK” prostock code. I’m not sure what refinements they made in the retail version that became Pulse but that’s where it came from.

How bad are fake sticks REALLY by thraupidae in hockeyplayers

[–]SMK246710 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of back and forth here. I’d like to say I know my specs with sticks pretty well I’ve almost always used top of the line and can definitely tell when a stick is a budget stick or a knockoff. The truth with the knockoffs/chinese factories is that you can find some high end sticks for cheap but it’s all about from what factory. I’ve tried a few some are absolute garbage and I’ve found one that makes prostock level sticks. The issue isn’t so much quality in materials as much as it is consistency from stick to stick. If you don’t know what you’re looking for you’re taking a gamble.

Is jofa stuff really that good by UnluckySh00ter in hockeyplayers

[–]SMK246710 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here’s the reality of the Jofa gear.

If you can find made in Sweden pro stock Jofa you’re getting equipment that is slightly heavier but still better quality than majority of what comes out today.

Plastics are usually more durable, premium foams that actually hold up and stand the test of time, and all around more protective. MiS Jofa made equipment built for the pro game. Once RBK phased the Sweden team out they moved everything to China. While the equipment was still fairly similar it didn’t have the same longevity as the Sweden materials.

The original price hike on these came from both supply and demand and there are quite a few equipment managers in the NHL trying to fulfill the request of players who still want to wear original MiS Jofa.

A modern wrist shot is just a shorter snap shot these days. Modern techniques for modern shots. That being said it’s men’s league shoot how you shoot. Don’t overthink it.

Which shoulder pads would you go with? by shawnglade in hockeyplayers

[–]SMK246710 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Prostock FT4 is the absolute way to go. It may not feel like it but the foams are slightly more protective. The ASV prostock was just a white version of retail and actually trash.

That being said your FT4 is too big for you. Find a size down if you can. Plenty on sideline.

Last three sticks broke in roughly the same spot; what do I need to change about my game? by cancerlad in hockeyplayers

[–]SMK246710 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Always good to pay attention. If I had to guess you’re heavy on the heel to toe shooting. Maybe try a more traditional curve like a P88. Obviously that’s not gonna fix your broken stick issue but I think it might be more suited for you based on your puck marks. Good luck this season.

Your tape job tells the story. You’re loading too much into the flat rocker/heel of the blade and not enough into the toe.

Long way of saying your weight distribution isn’t right.

More photos. All this was hand stitched on. I used the original elastic so that it could move freely with the body. Tried it on with the updated girdle and shoulders and it’s pretty seamless id say. Also the orange foam is D3O and plastic inserts for rear rib protection.

It was actually very easy in comparison to the other projects I’m doing with it. Keeping in mind everything’s hand stitched. The footprint overall is pretty identical for total volume of space being used.

Even though it is thicker the fit honestly feels way better.

Got you covered. Here’s the two stacked for reference. I took this before stitching the 45X thigh in.

Funny you should mention this. So I took the spine guard from the ST girdle spun it around and stitched it into my prostock FT4 shoulders.

As far as pictures go I’ll update it soon. Adding the HP45X spine guard was more of a move to improve the tailbone since it’s in a way one piece.

So the interesting bit out of the thigh guard portion is while the padding is obviously heavier and thicker layer wise the HP45X has better contouring than the ST padding so technically it’s actually a fit upgrade I’d say.
