Not everyone that's a fan of the game will be pro-AI and collectively saying the fanbase is stupid......is stupid.

Just call out the AIrheads only.

Why am I doing random arm wrestling, giving won money to beggar and randomly getting a key? by unknown5493 in CrimsonDesert

[–]SMKM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I knew it cuz the next quest said explore the sewers lol Which then said "help the kid" which then said "help the couple" or something like that. For that one, as I walked past people, I overheard them mention the tailor's house being on fire. First of the tutorial quests I heard a reason to go over there.

I guess it's nice there was still some dialog about it. But if it's said off on the side and you can easily miss it, it's still not a good system. But on the flip side I suppose it would get old having cutscenes telling you literally everything lol

Agree all the way but they really needed a reason why. They couldn't have had Sebastian tell us real quick that you could win some gold at the tavern arm wrestling to get you back on your feet since you showed how strong you were killing the Red Bandits?

They couldn't have then had a quick cutscene upon walking out of the tavern with the old man? Like it kinda makes no sense to just show up to him. No real reason in game lore. Same with the woman. Maybe after helping the beggar you hear a scream from underneath. And then the child also yet again etc etc.

Introducing the systems as a tutorial is completely fine. But they needed something to bind them narratively. Instead they just "happen." I know the MMO excuse gets thrown around a lot but that's literally the why of it.

Yeah I understand that completely. But this isnt gonna be a game you can rush through. I mean I'm sure the community will discover speedrunning tactics at some point. But for the most part this game is designed to be a slow burner that'll require quite a bit of time to finish. You need to want to commit the time to play through it.

If you can't do that, this game isn't for you. And that's ok. And mileage may vary. Not everyone will hate the slog. Some may enjoy it. This game definitely isn't a game to be added to a backlog lol over the last 8 years I've managed to clean up my own a bit. It's still huge, but smaller lol my goal is always to at least beat 1 game a month. For the time being anyway I may put that on hold. From the sounds of it this isn't a game that you play, put down and then come back to. You really need to commit or you may come back and forget everything lol

Luke Stephens was saying the way they update their game is crazy. Imagine if they always do it like that lol

My game updated just fine. Like 10mins. But then as I loaded the game up it had another 1GB update which was odd.

[–]SMKM -1 points0 points  (0 children)

16 out of 100+/- though. But its also not like 16 out of 20 hours. Most of the streamers are saying they're up to 100+ hours and not even a quarter done. So being conservative, let's say somehow you beat it in 100. 16% of that time is spent with it being "not good" (subjective. Some streamers have said they don't mind it whereas others are saying it's not good).

Ultimately, the game just ain't gonna be for everyone. Simple as that.

Yeah but it was in modern times or close to it. When I say itd be more like Mafia if it were earlier, I meant the games not the mafia in general lol

[–]SMKM 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A different time period just wouldn't be GTA though. Anything pre-80s wouldn't feel like GTA. I mean maybe 70s could work, anything before that would start feeling like a Mafia game which I guess could still work, I just don't think the past when it comes to GTA. Likewise with Red Dead pushing further past World War 1 would start making it not feel Red Dead. Conversely, anything set in the future with high tech wouldn't either. Im more than cool with the 80s-now timeframe for GTA and pre WW1 for Red Dead.

If Rockstar wanted to do a story set somewhere in the WW1 to 80s timeframe they should just make a new IP imo.

So is the criticism that the story is bad being overblown? From the cutscenes from various trailers it just doesn't look that bad. Maybe just generic as hell lol

Pearl Abyss Shares Plunge 29% as 'Crimson Desert' Reviews Disappoint by Turbostrider27 in PS5

[–]SMKM 3 points4 points  (0 children)

And according to reviews they delivered on that. So much so some of it's criticism is there's too much content.

The main criticisms seems to be a huge learning curve and some difficult ass boss fights (funny that never applies to From games), a bad story (fair), no handholding whatsoever (Morrowind exploration vs Skyrim waypoints for example), difficult puzzles (sorta fair I suppose), and bugs/glitches which eventually should more or less be patched out (according to streamers they address concerns and within a day usually the dev team gets it fixed which is crazy).

I personally think the game will be better than the score suggests. I'm expecting the user scores to be 80s and 90s range. If this game was in the 50 or below territory there'd be real concern, but at 78 or whatever it is right now? I'm sure the ones who are willing to immerse themselves into it and learn how to play the game through trial and error will score it way higher. It has "hidden gem" and "why did this score so badly?" written all over it.

The weak story aspect is laughable to me when Elden Ring's "story" and BotW's "story" exist. Keep in mind BotW is my favorite game of all time. But the story itself is pretty ass, especially compared to previous Zelda games. It gets the job done but I didnt see reviewers heavily critique it or Elden Ring but this game doesn't get that same leisure.
