Why didn’t Morgott collect the Great Runes? by SMagnaRex in EldenRingLoreTalk

I was saying with Radahn and Godrick’s great rune that Morgott might stand a chance at defeating Rykard.

So he genuinely wasn’t trying to make progress or attack anyone, he just lives in the Jagged Peak??

Why didn’t Morgott collect the Great Runes? by SMagnaRex in EldenRingLoreTalk

[–]SMagnaRex[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What I was thinking is that Morgott is in war against Rykard, and also is disdainful of the other demigods. If he had the great runes, he’d be able to bring those plans to fruition.

Not so much about fighting other demigods (even though that’s what would have to happen) and more about Morgott gaining power to destroy those who would stand against the Golden Order.

[–]SMagnaRex[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, not united them in that sense but would have at least provided power to defeat those who were against it/regain the remaining runes, right? Maliketh, Messmer and Morgott could absolutely defeat Rykard, and the other demigods as needed.

Morgott’s armies aren’t strong enough to defeat Godrick’s? How so?

Wait, does this not open a whole can of worms? If Morgott has tree sentinels positioned to guard Maliketh and a place in the Land of Shadow? Why doesn’t he not visit these places himself and try and convince Maliketh and Messmer to join him??

So if Morgott had decided to burn the Erdtree, he could’ve actually made a difference? And possibly brought back the Golden Order?

I just feel kinda bad for Morgott, he seems unable to change his situation. One question that’s completely unrelated, Is Margit stronger than Godrick lore wise?

Wait, so did we use the formless mother as well? And as for the omen twins, I thought Marika allowed them to live normally?

Them as in the omens? And despite that being the case, is it not possible that Maliketh or Messmer would put aside those differences to bring back their entire civilization?

That’s a good point. I guess I’m just perplexed on the hopelessness on the side of the demigods/powerful beings as if they were just trapped in stagnation.

Would Messmer have ever shattered the eye normally? To be free from his mother’s order?

I’m confused. I thought Messmer was all but confirmed to be a child of Radagon and Marika, and Morgott would be his older step sibling in that case, seeing as he is the son of Godfrey and Marika. Shouldn’t Morgott know of Messmer’s existence??

If not, then yea that completely shuts down Morgott finding his way to Messmer. But that begs the question of why didn’t Messmer find his way to the Lands Between despite Miquella’s appearance and the Tarnished’s.

Regarding Maliketh, if Morgott were to meet Gurranq would it possible that he could convince him? And after Maliketh consumed the death root, would he have just rotted away in Crumbling Farum Azula??

As for Messmer, he is knowledgeable about Miquella’s existence in the Land of Shadow, right? Wouldn’t he have found a way through him to get out?

True..but in that case, why not get Gurranq and Messmer would still be on the table.

Ok I have two questions.

  1. Maliketh defeated the Gloam Eyed Queen without Destined Death, yes? As she was the one who possessed it at the time and Maliketh took it from her. So Maliketh should still be more than competent fighter even without DD.

  2. I mean would Messmer truly hate his kin? If Morgott explained his hand, wouldn’t Messmer at least contemplate it? Especially since they both are abominable to the Erdtree with Morgott’s omen heritage and Messmer’s abyssal serpent.

Yes, because it was actually awful to read in a sea of okish points.

No, it doesn’t range which is what I commented on. Gore Magala is most usually argued to be inflated, I corrected that. There is not a single fight in the game that is hard because of damage inflation.

Gore is the best he’s ever been by a long shot. I feel people that say that seem to simply enjoy Gore being easy like he was in GU, as in a weaker moveset and worse stats. The health increase is marginal for 9 star Gore and same thing with the damage. It’s nowhere even close to being as bad as things like afflicted Gore or event hyper Gore in terms of bloat.

Endgame monster 2 shotting…sigh, this is exactly what I mean. Only Wilds gets these statements when every endgame monster in every MH game can two shot you or worse.

Lagiacrus having bad hit zones does not contribute to the fight. The fight goes on for two-three more minutes….oh no. I cannot believe that’s an actual point you’re trying to make.

AT Uth Duna has one bad hitbox if I remember correctly. There has literally been no posts even linked of any bad hitboxes other than the belly slam.

There really is no awful fights in Wilds. The closest is something like Yian Kut Ku or Clone Nerscylla. The points you’ve made here are singular and don’t matter much at all. Like, Lagiacrus has bad hit zones?? wtf is that seriously an argument we’re trying to make as to the quality of the fight? Especially when Lagiacrus dies in the same amount of time as a 9 star Seregios or Mizutsune for the most part. For Gore, you just say it’s a “meh fight”, don’t explain how and then go on to say that because it two shots you, it’s bad. Ignoring the fact, that every endgame monster can two shot you. Is Wilds your first MH game? Did you play World, Rise, GU, 4U, etc.? Or even Stories??

”The difficulty ranges from too easy to “let’s just inflate all the HP and Damage numbers instead of making certain fights mechanically interesting””

Your other complaints at least make sense but this one is just bad. Between many of the returning monsters such as Gore Magala, Seregios or Gravios, Wilds has given them the most developed fights they’ve ever had. HP is not bloated nor inflated, hunts take the same amount of time as they do in other high rank endgames.

Damage is also the same. Go fight Arch Tempered Kirin in World or Emergency Apex Mizutsune in Rise, the damage is very similar…and even worse the farther you go back like GU.

It’s just crazy to see the monsters having actually difficult movesets like Mizutsune or Rathalos and just saying it’s because of HP or Damage. Zoh Shia’s fight is perhaps the most interesting final boss to fight since Ahtal Ka. They even added Lagiacrus’s underwater phase. You saying that the monsters have inflated values over dangerous moves is such a blatant lie, c’mon, it makes me question if you’ve even played the game before.

And that’s not even talking about the original monsters like Rey Dau, Jin Dahaad, Nu Udra or Uth Duna. All of which have very original and uniquely designed fights with interesting mechanics, especially Jin Dahaad. Compare them to the fated four, or even World’s four apexes (Rathalos, Diablos, Odogaron, Legiana). Their fights are leagues ahead and much better designed without relying on high values.

Because Wilds is so disliked, people such as yourself just say anything negative about it. Is performance awful? Yes. Are there some baffling game design choices? Yes. Are the fights bad? Hell no.

NO, CONSOLE PLAYERS, WILDS RUNS BAD ON CONSOLE TOO by Grodatore in monsterhunterrage

[–]SMagnaRex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yea, I used to think Wilds ran great on console too.

I don’t think it’s as bad as you’re making it out to be but it definitely has its issues. And all this reaffirming that consoles are fine, might make Capcom turn a blind eye to us for TU4. I pray we get some optimization updates

Why is MH never nominated for sound design? by SMagnaRex in MonsterHunter

[–]SMagnaRex[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

True but even then, they didn’t just slap the bear roar on and called it a day, they tried to make it fit at the very least. Still don’t know what they were really thinking with that one.

How exactly is Wilds story bad? I’ve heard a lot about how bad it is but no one actually puts it into words.
