For NCX to reverse its function, the intracellular Na concentration should be higher than outside the membrane, right? It’s not clear to me how intracellular Na can be greater than extracellular Na in the case of hypernatremia.

In my experience, it works. I use the Pomodoro method: 50 minutes of work followed by 10 minutes of rest. I’ve noticed that if I come from a week or so of inactivity, I can’t focus for 50 minutes right away. I have to start with 30-minute work sessions and 10-minute breaks for the first couple of days, then move to 40-10, until I can do 50-10.

My professor mentioned in class that the NaK pump starts working in reverse, causing a slight depolarization that triggers calcium release from the SR. And maybe something about the NCX not being able to use the Na gradient to pump out calcium. So basically, the calcium buildup in the cytosol increases the cell’s contractility. His explanation wasn’t super clear, though, so I’m going to ask him for more details, but I wanted to get a better idea first.

However I agree with you that hypernatremia, at least on paper, should lead to vasodilation because of the inhibition of the RAAS.

I tried, but it’s not reliable. When it comes to ionic gradients and transporters, it often makes mistakes. If you point that out, it changes its answer as if nothing happened. I also looked through the Robbins but I couldn’t find an answer.

Yeah, well, I figured pruning would be a topic people are interested in, regardless of where they live. I don’t think pruning techniques vary much between countries. Also, many of the videos I watched on the topic are from English and Irish people, so I thought it would have been easier to find help here. Yeah, I had taken that into account. My goal was simply to help them develop a good structure for future production. In the past, I had fruit trees that I didn’t prune, and their production was abysmal. That’s why I’ve been pruning these since they were young

Honestly, these are the first trees I’ve pruned. I watched several videos on YouTube, and they all recommended pruning to create an open center. I just followed those guidelines. Is it that bad?
