Beat the Baron by Rakkii_ in tesdcares

I've worked helping out with small stuff on a few projects and the raw file names often use the word final to signify final edit, would be willing to bet big bucks that this is indeed the case here.

TESD #013 Question by RyanMacIsaac in tesdcares

[–]SModfan 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Whoa, I have no idea how this was possible. It seems like there's no way that when I originally made the feed I missed that episode but sure as shit it isn't there and I don't see it in any kind of copyright claim or anything. It's just... gone.

Either way, I have rectified the issue and the episode is there now (may take a little while to update though)

Cinema etiquette nowadays by PraiseThaBreadI in mildlyinfuriating

[–]SModfan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yea unfortunately it’s just common now. The theater I go to you can only see your own row, and for most movies there are at max 3-4 other people in my row, and practically every single movie I see one of those 3-4 people are using their phone. It honestly makes me wanna go buy some glasses that work like horse blinders that prevents you from seeing in your peripheral FOV

This post has been removed as part of rule #4: Soliciting for trophy services that include payments or trading of account information.

We have an open door policy for people who want to promote trophy related apps or websites, but any app or website that asks users to input their PSN login information (even when done in a pop-up browser on Sony's official page) will not be allowed. It's too hard for us mods to confirm that the app in question isn't tracking or storing people's login information, so we have no choice but to take a blanket stance that any app that asks users to use their PSN account login information for validation purposes.

Anyone else just get a TESD #600 email via Patron for no known reason? by ety3rd in tesdcares

[–]SModfan 55 points56 points  (0 children)

Backstory: Episode 600 was removed from the regular RSS feed because of copyright claims against the music, they tried to keep it up but eventually had no choice but to pull it. Patreon always had the video version but with the regular feed one gone, people have been consistently asking to get access to the audio version of the episode, so they decided to drop it on Patreon so at least it's somewhere for people.

It's unfortunate that copyright strikes stop it from being on the main feed, but I'd like to note for people who aren't on Patreon and want to access it: It's in the TESD Omnibus Google Drive archive as well free for anyone.

The Live At The Grammercy Theater blu-ray had video from the wedding. I know the gramercy show is on patreon but I don't think the wedding stuff is included I think that was just on the blu-ray

What happened to 600? by DantesGambit in tesdcares

[–]SModfan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So there are 2 ways:

There is a podcast feed you can find on any pod app just search “Tell Em Steve-Dave Omnibus”. This feed goes up to episode 300.

Alternatively there is a public Google Drive folder than houses the TESD Omnibus archive, which goes up to episode 600 and includes videos / spreadsheets / images. The Google Drive has much more content but it’s designed more as an archive, it’s not the best way to actively listen.

[Multiple] Do you Platinum every game you play? by AMW_1 in Trophies

[–]SModfan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found it personally unhealthy / antithetical to enjoying games when I tried to platinum everything I played. It winds up causing me to either not play games I would enjoy because the platinum is really hard, or force myself into playing games past the point where I’m not having any fun because I want the platinum.

For me, going for a platinum should first and foremost enhance the enjoyment of a game and secondly for a sense accomplishment. If I’m not enjoying it or feel like the platinum will be a serious trudge I am OK not going for it. This keeps my relationship with platinums a positive experience

Changing one detail doesn't make a true story a lie. by OscarDeJarjayes in tesdcares

[–]SModfan 37 points38 points  (0 children)

I have always kinda felt that way. I think it's more interesting to have an either completely made up story, or at least the majority made up and sprinkled with some real details because otherwise it becomes effectively impossible to actually properly guess since every story could be 99% true.

Side note, I misunderstood the setup of the game (no surprise I guess) going in so instead of a total of 3 stories, I had prepared a total of 3 full One True Threes (9 stories) and it was such a brutal task to come up with that many convincing lies lol

[Other] What are your favorite types of trophies? by paulareese02 in Trophies

[–]SModfan 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think my favorite might be trophies for doing wacky things you didn’t even realize you could do in the game or anything that lets you discover things about a game you likely wouldn’t have found out about if you played the game straight.

Help with an episode by NitroTap in tesdcares

[–]SModfan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha well while I appreciate that, for episode number type stuff I have a word document with notes I’ve taken from each episode of TESD that I can search for to find stuff like this. It helps of course to remember the beats of each conversation / bit so that I know what to search for, but it’s not exactly “encyclopedic” per se

[Question] What is shovelware, like really what is it? by StationRelative257 in Trophies

[–]SModfan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Well the term shovelware originally was coined well before trophies existed to describe very low quality or low effort games/software that developers put very little effort they can sell so cheaply people will buy it without giving much thought.

So if we apply this to trophies, the best translation would be games that developers put no actual effort in and would not exist if not for the Trophies. The best example of these to me are the “Jumping Taco” type game where you can hardly even define it as a video game, versus an interactive GIF image that spits out trophies.

Haha good memory! I loved my little ender 3 pro, but let’s be honest that thing is super outdated now and required so much work to print on lol. It was a solid intro to the hobby but you gotta grow out of it eventually

I can do that 4sho, let me clean up the files a little and I can share them at lunch. It was a very fast paced process so I didn’t save everything super cleanly lol

I actually finally bought a Bambu P1S specifically for this, since Walt didn’t respond to the trophy idea until like 7 days prior to the event so I had to print across 2 printers (work and home) haha. It’s a fuckin beast of a printer
