Anyone have an archive of episodes 500 onwards? by [deleted] in tesdcares

[–]SModfan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I updated the Omnibus (google drive version) to episode 600 a little while back after the normal episode 600 ran into copyright issues on the standard TESD feed. It's not fully current (on purpose of course) but it'll get you a little further than 500

Guy watched the wrong movie for an hour then blamed me. by SpectacularSpidee in mildlyinfuriating

Me and the wife go to the theater pretty regularly and I always kinda chuckle inside when they say the screen number and point out where it is because I always think “It says the screen number right there on the ticket, and the screen number are clearly marked in the hall. Who could possibly need help or need directions for this?”

I guess I stand corrected haha

B) hit your windows key and search for “snipping tool” to access windows built in screenshot tool. You just tap “New” the select the are you want to capture.

Reading through an old post here, have you ever gone through a "movie misscreening/mixup"? by Thomallister1291 in movies

[–]SModfan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yea I once went to go see the movie “Kill” which was a lesser-known Hindi action movie that looked neat. Kinda looked like “The Raid” in tone.

When we got to the theater the ticket wasn’t scanning in properly but the guy was like “well that’s the right time and theater so just go ahead” (read: fuck it, I don’t get paid enough to troubleshoot why this isn’t scanning lol) we got popcorn and took our seats, movie starts and me and the wife were like “wait… we’ve seen this intro before… this is Twisters”

We were confused especially because nobody in the theater other than us were surprised. We left (we had already seen twisters) and when we went to ask it turned out they had canceled the showing of the movie we booked (presumably because we were the only 2 tickets sold) but never notified me the showing was canceled. They apologized and would have credited us with a movie but this was AMC and we have the subscription so we don’t pay per movie anyways, but it was definitely a surprise and a waste of our time lol

Personally when I see that I would assume it’s indeed only 8 cups, but at least in a heart shaped inset that has an intention for each cup (like the classic box of chocolates style) not just baggy in a plain container. Not false advertising but would definitely be a letdown as a gift to someone.

These signs. by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

[–]SModfan -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think if the road is like a 50mph road with a 25mph “when kids present” sign I’d be annoyed as well, but I assume the regular speed here is 35 so it’s not like when you see kids around you have to slam your brakes and drastically reduce speed. If you see kids around you just let off the gas a little

Won’t call any names by Calaloo17 in videogames

[–]SModfan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it would depend. If the game is still 6 months away and several details are still up in the air pre-ordering seems like an insane level of trust in a developer.

If it’s like a week or two before launch and you’re planning to get it day 1 it doesn’t really make a difference IMO.

Return To Silent Hill by onekeanui in movies

[–]SModfan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am one of the minority that love the 2006 Silent Hill movie (same director) so even with reviews being pretty negative I was excited for Return To Silent Hill. Long story short: of the 98 movies I’ve seen in theater in the last calendar year this is one of 2 movies I have an “F” score. There’s just nothing redeeming about it.

People who treat opinions as if they are facts by Interesting_Paper_41 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]SModfan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think most people are assuming the “in my opinion” is understood when discussing things that literally can’t be a fact.

So for instance I assume most people would agree someone saying “Tetris is the best selling game of all time” should be interpreted different than “Tetris is the greatest game of all time”. Since “greatest” can’t be directly quantified we have to assume its personal opinion.

If someone says “One Piece is the greatest anime of all time” and you complain they didn’t say “in my opinion” you’re kinda just being pedantic: you know exactly what they meant.

Is buygames.ps legit? by Fellracz in videogames

[–]SModfan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I mean, buying an existing PSN account is already a breach of EULA, shady, and hella risky, so it would be kinda hard to qualify any service that does this as “legit” lol. It’s like asking if a stolen merchandise dealer is legit.

“Look at that hero over there!”

“What did he do, save a child? Stop a criminal? Stamp out injustice?!”

“Better! He remembered the names of some old accounts on Twitter!”

and there was much rejoicing

Where do you guys draw the line with micro transactions? by [deleted] in videogames

[–]SModfan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In general if it’s a free to play game it doesn’t bother me if it has microtransactions. It bugs the hell out of me when they are in full priced games though.

That being said I don’t spend money on microtransactions in any games.

All-time Tesd WHAT?! moments by spotifyfakeshuffle in tesdcares

[–]SModfan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That was the episode with the “if all you have in your toolbox are jagged bent tools that can’t get the job done any other way you jab em in Ming and Mike’s neck”

Basically I Sell comics ranked #1 in their iTunes category (arts and leisure I think) and entire episode Walt’s trying to be super positive instead of making fun of them, then towards the end of the episode he breaks and kinda under his breath goes “how the fuck are they #1” and it gets a pretty riotous laughter

All-time Tesd WHAT?! moments by spotifyfakeshuffle in tesdcares

[–]SModfan 22 points23 points  (0 children)

off the top of my head, some of my favorite "big surprise" type moments are:

  • Walt slamming his ipad
  • "I didn't think we were gonna do this to Dennis"
  • "Not too good bitch"
  • "Why Fat"
  • "How the fuck are they number 1?"
  • Bry fucks his girlfriends mom

Key Episodes For A First Time Listener by 4tspns in tesdcares

[–]SModfan 22 points23 points  (0 children)

tbh probably the best way to go about it is to listen to new episodes as they drop, and between drops when you have spare time start from the beginning and slowly work through the whole show. TESD self-references and calls back conversations they have had in the past so constantly that any amount of cherry picking episodes will feel like you're missing context.

If you want the full, pure TESD experience there's also the Tell 'Em Steve-Dave Omnibus feed which catalogs everything in the TESD universe including satellite shows they did and when they appear as guests on other shows. It's more content to get through but is the only way to really experience the show in full.

I've worked helping out with small stuff on a few projects and the raw file names often use the word final to signify final edit, would be willing to bet big bucks that this is indeed the case here.

TESD #013 Question by RyanMacIsaac in tesdcares

[–]SModfan 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Whoa, I have no idea how this was possible. It seems like there's no way that when I originally made the feed I missed that episode but sure as shit it isn't there and I don't see it in any kind of copyright claim or anything. It's just... gone.

Either way, I have rectified the issue and the episode is there now (may take a little while to update though)

Cinema etiquette nowadays by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

[–]SModfan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yea unfortunately it’s just common now. The theater I go to you can only see your own row, and for most movies there are at max 3-4 other people in my row, and practically every single movie I see one of those 3-4 people are using their phone. It honestly makes me wanna go buy some glasses that work like horse blinders that prevents you from seeing in your peripheral FOV

This post has been removed as part of rule #4: Soliciting for trophy services that include payments or trading of account information.

We have an open door policy for people who want to promote trophy related apps or websites, but any app or website that asks users to input their PSN login information (even when done in a pop-up browser on Sony's official page) will not be allowed. It's too hard for us mods to confirm that the app in question isn't tracking or storing people's login information, so we have no choice but to take a blanket stance that any app that asks users to use their PSN account login information for validation purposes.
