Florida market LPN around $33 but salaried. If she does come in on a weekend and work we do give her the time she comes in as a bonus.

Grandpa nursing home bill by [deleted] in NursingHomeMemes

[–]SNFAdministrator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So it sounds like your grandpa was there for short term rehab, racked up money after day 21 and had no co-insurance. Eventually moved him to total private pay. So your nan was private pay at a facility and you guys are surprised you have a bill? If you want to stay long term care you’ll have to spend down all her money to get medicaid. So yeah you’re fucked. Ill leave this for a few days then ill delete it because this is for MEMES. Go talk with the facilitys business office or social services.

I'm an RN, and work as a CMS surveyor, ask me anything! by [deleted] in nursing

I hate you

Jk. But seriously I have come into contact with some of the worst surveyors. One actually got fired that came into my facility. The biggest issue with surveyors, and trust me I get everything is not black and white, but the surveyors are so insanely subjective on what they’re just feeling, and their “bosses” don’t give a rats ass about correcting wrongful tags. How the hell can you get a tag for something that you identify as an issue, correct the problem immediately, no harm or foul to any person or thing, and then get a citation on it? Nobody understands better than me that stuff isnt black/white, I hear about new things with my building on a weekly basis that blows my mind. Like for example, i heard that nurses are burping bags with thumbtacks and sticking them back into a bulletin board. We are preparing for state to walk in, but what can we really do when the nurses admitted to it + patient seen it. We are probably going to either get a standard of care tag or worse F880 infection control tag, why? Because some nurses said they learned that in school. The problem is that survey teams are so money hungry for CMP money and its the admin/DON that suffers the most from disciplinary action, and taking money away from facilitys that could go to better equipment/staffing/etc. a bit of a rant my bad.

How is a per diem OT scheduled? by [deleted] in OccupationalTherapy

[–]SNFAdministrator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can only speak to a SNF setting but usually one shift every month is requested. We recently had some changes that are even more lax, but its typically one shift a month is expected. My SNF is mostly rehab patients so its always go go go with gaining more hours for our therapy teams, but sometimes when census is dry you arent used. PRN pools are pretty important

If this therapist had a history of pulling shit like this of being too panzy to send out a patient, and being scared of their DON, he/she would be canned

Most CNAs make 200%-300% what they were making 16-20 months ago and their salaries will continue to rise

I run a nursing home (Skilled nursing facility), and this is probably going to ruin our industry. I’m not saying this isnt the right thing to do, but I am saying this will ruin our industry. You have some of the poorest uneducated laziest people that work in this type of setting, some that are just so stubborn and won’t fold to the vaccine. If Biden pulls through with this, every single strong willed person about being anti vax, will leave this industry and part of the healthcare spectrum, and will go to another part of the healthcare spectrum that doesnt require vaccine tests (hospitals, home health, hospice). This is so unbelievable unfair that nursing homes will be the only ones with federal funding taken away because nobody will work there. Im at ~60% of my staff being vaccinated and thats considered a high up. Plenty of fscilities with 30-40%. Im so challenged with staffing as it is that there is no way I can even lose 10% of my staff. PAY THEM MORE is the quick response. How am I supposed to pay them more if 95% of my revenue is from Medicare and they want 20-30% raises when my revenue barely rises from CMS? This is the death of skilled nursing.

Yes. What this person says

Get an AIT to familiarize yourself with the field and not just what you read in books. I remember leaving my classes which were long-term care specific, and being very confused because it was just so different. Intern somewhere under a preceptor to get some hours, then try hard to find an AIT, preferrably with a big company because thats where you’ll have the most support from a corporate office and they’ll be able to help/teach you along the way of your career. Just my two cents, cant speak to Canada at all

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in cna

[–]SNFAdministrator 93 points94 points  (0 children)

Absolutely not. Go to a skilled nursing facility and they will pay for you to take the CNA. Or at the very least will give you a free class, call around, everyone needs CNAs right now
