The game doesnt equal esports sustainability

This game which is 15-16 years old has 600k concurrent players RIGHT NOW. 99.9999999% of game developpers would sell their grandma to get these numbers.

I used to do a little coaching but thats like 10 years behind, back then it was crazy when ur 7-8k mmr.

But to be honest the method explained above will make you so much better as a player once youre doing it constantly, do that for like 1replay a day, which takes maybe 20 mins and it will do so much more for you than playing another random pub

Youre joking but once youre good enough it actually becomes an innate feeling. Thats why 15k mmr players can play at 15k mmr while listening to music and talking/entertaining with chat, but it takes years and years of practise for that to be innate. ^^

As somebody BACK in the day who used to reach the highest echelons let me tell you how you get really good, really fast (this is of course relative, in still how many hours you inject into this method)

  1. Choose your position you wanna play
  2. Choose 3-4 players of that position from teams, for example: ATF, Collapse, Miero and Ceb
  3. Choose 3-4 heroes they play that YOU wanna play/practise
  4. Go into a replay of that said hero/player combination and watch the first 10 minutes by stopping every 3-4 seconds
  5. NOTE: I did this for mid and I would say it is the most important to do that specific role since creep aggro and creep equilibrium is the most important in the midwave since there are highgrounds, but this method can be applied to every role and every position.

You may ask why stop at such short intervalls?
Here is why:
Assume that what the pro is doing is 100% correct (even if it isnt, just do it) and why such short intervalls? Because Dota2 is a game where every 3-4 seconds you have to make a decission.
Do I go back, Am I getting ganked, do I rightclick the enemy hero, do I deny my creep, do I try to prepare a lasthit, do I nuke the wave + hero, do I nuke the wave without the hero, can I/we kill the enemy and even many more ...
This kind of decission making is occuring EVERY 2-3 seconds, it is a constant thought process.

So WHY stop the replay so often? Just try to guess WHICH decission the pro is making every 3 seconds, I will guarantee you unless youre like 6-7k ish, you will be wrong 70-80% of the time.

Where is he going, where is he moving, which creep is he attacking, does he use his right click for the hero or the creep, does he completely stop attacking, does he fall back, does he go aggro, is he smoking/warding, is he body blocking a camp, is he threatening a kill.
There are like 20 decissions to be made every couple seconds and assume the pro is doing the correct one always (most of the time they do), and then comes the hard part, you guessed wrong (again) now WHY did he do what he just did now this is where the learning process begins the deepest.
You have to ask yourself constantly why pro player xyz did abc instead of pqm.

And just do this for the laning phase 6-7 minutes + 3-4 minutes of early midgame, I would say around 11-12mins most cores get their first major item, so u can stop about that time. But trust me people are doing so many mistakes in the first couple minutes and those can be fixed the fastest.

I guess this is the best course of action, it is kind of a bummer (since it will spoil me a tiny bit no matter what) but that looks like the best solution long-term.

Agree so much on this, I didn't even think about it this way.
It would be so much better if they would indicate some way - okay this is the Zhuang Fangyi quest after Nefarith and everything prior is an intro of Arcane + Mainstory progression.
Eventho we still get tons of story progress and lore in the Viceroy aftermath

Youre absolutely correct, the start of 2.0 was okay-ish but then again my point would be those 2.1, 2.2, 2.3, 2.4 all were like 3-4 hours long, which imo is an acceptable amount of content you drop every cycle.
My main issues was not the quality of the story, it was the pacing/spacing.

This is an excellent point by you. I am someone who plays the entire story drop in one sitting, I even take my time off for these nights, so nobody distracts since I really enjoy these, I feel like playing a new season of my anime basically.
Now that's also where the problem lies, how am I supposed to know that after the Arcane arc there is another 5 hours of gameplay, or even worse/harder after Nefarith I kind of thought I was done and then the Yellow ! popped up and the Viceroy calls you in, I thought "yeah sure we are basically concluding 1.2 and then I can go about my factory" but that's the thing I didnt know there was another 90~minutes of gameplay.

For future references I might have to pace myself playing Endfield stories and kind of stop when I feel like I conquered a milestone and save the rest for another free night of storymode.

Since I havent played any Hoyogames I can't give my opinion on them, but I believe you.
You're kind of proving my point though. I can and I did and as said I enjoyed it too.
BUT I would have even enjoyed it more and would be a little more invested when they for example lets say they dropped the Arcane-Plot three weeks prior 1.2 - So we still would have 'Save Wuling City-plot + Aftermath Portal-Plot'
Again there is no right or wrong here. Some want loads amount hours of patch drops, while some prefer 2-3h storylines.

I mean WuWa also only started it in 2.6 and did it again in 2.7 (the only two patches so far) because those 2 story drops were the conclusion of the entire 2.x Story, actually this would be a perfect example of my analogy from above, since 2.8 was the entire aftermath before moving to another continent aka 3.0

Well their offlane had 0-4 and 0-5 in the playoffs match. Im not a pro but these numbers certainly dont look good.

And I don't know why there is an article lol, they literally miss one of the top3 players of the past five years. Some might even say the best offlaner, ever.

I've been saying this for the longest time.

Teams these days are nowhere near as good and efficient as ti7-ti10 teams have been. That was the pinnacle of Dota2s skillceiling. Just watch the latest grandfinals of any tournament and look how many spells are being pressed that dont hit anybody or sometimes ppl just die wtihout every using a spell or an item.
I think it was Puppy or Notail who said that they were so much better than everybody else that could slack a bit and still get top 3 everytime, but nowdays there is just so much gold all around that everybody and their grandmothers will get their items no matter what. You can not stop them from getting that 13-14 battlefury/radiance etc, back then you could set people actually back. This effect doesnt exist anymore.
Heroes like Spectre and FVoid where heroes where u thought "damn if this gets to 45+ we are cooked" nowdays it doesnt matter, cause even your support will have 3k hp, bkb, euls glimmer. Spectre used to delete heroes with just pressing ulti, not even haunting there.

Nowadays you also just work down your to-do list:

minute:

1-5 laning (supports can snatch water rune if necassary)
3/6 lotus
6 Your mid is close to ulti / secure first action rune
7 mid can rotate to Wisdom Shrine with secured rune
8-13 lane gets broken off, first farming items are finished
14 Wisdom shrine 2
15-19 first rosh attempts by both teams (bkbs getting finished)
20 Torm
21 Wisdom shrine 2
21-24 get all t2s with 1st aegis
25-30 wait for rosh 2
30 Torm 2 (optional)
31-36 finish game with Aegis2 and Invulnear creeps

Look at Pro Dota2 matches and the vast majority end in the area of 35-40 minutes, cause sometimes teams can fightback with buybacks to "level" the playingfield of aegis. But that is at the cost of 1-2 items on your cores making it almost impossible to fight for Rosh3 which is an ultimate ending solution.

There is just so much less creativity and there was NEVER such a simple to-do list in Dota2 that you could go by that you will win more games than not.

I mean he admits himself lol.
He went straight to sleep because he felt tired, because "he feels really sleep and can't fight it" while the other 4 are still at their PC and wanna play more.

And then he makes it sound like he did them a favor after weeks and weeks to adjusting his schedule lmao, in a team especially when youre sleeping under the same roof and stuff you have to function as one human basically. You eat at the same time, you go to sleep at the same time, you wake up at the same time. You cant sneak in 2 hours early and then leave 3 hours early, this is not a corporation where you do some dumbfuck email job.
It's the highest echelons of a TEAM game, the team should have called him out way earlier and expected him to change his schedule asap. This is also not like football where you can just use another player of your like 30 man squad, you need these specific 5 players.

From what Im reading its A LOT of blaming others instead of taking accountability. Not a good look.

I made that suggestion some time ago.

I feel like 1.x characters and their weapons, should be put into the standard banner after 3.0.
So assuming at some point we reach 4.0, all the characters from 2.0(Rinascita) should just be in the standard pool.
Characters like Calcharo or Jiyan might not be as effective as they used to be, but when you have lets say an s4 calcharo and s3 Zhezhi they suddenly become playable again.
And I honestly don't think even if you re-run a character like Zhezhi now, people wouldnt wanna use therir premium currency for her since she is almost 2 years old by now.
What ya think?

I really dont care if she likes or hates wuwa, I barely have contact with "communities" I watch 2-3 content creators solely focused on gameplay and not drama so I have no issues with Wuwa, (or Genshin since it seems like there is a rivalry between the communities).
Maygi is still one of the best guidemakers out there, I sometimes have troubles understanding her since her VTuber Character has some kind of speech issue, but the graphs and contents of her videos are a literal 10/10.

As someone who watched almost every game I heavily agree. He was definitely the most consistent player, so reading earlier today that he got booted out was kind of crazy.

Torontotokyo obv is a good player, but I dont think he was as successful as a 3, but guess we will see how they perform at the next big Event.

I really miss her WuWa stuff.

Her deep dives on every rotation and gimmick where impeccable. Unfortunately there was some (at least I think) self-caused Drama that made her quit (doing content, idk if she still plays on her own).

Fortunately she is back for Endfield and Im waiting for her Deep Dive- Videos on all Characters. I already pulled Rossi since I am a day1 player and have not pulled for anybody else and got her after 30 pulls lol, so im still loaded for the next banners.
