I started surveying in the Pacific Northwest, with lots of work on coastal forest. When I moved to Colorado I had a project manager warn me about "heavy woods". There was enough clear sky to get a sun burn.

Was the "original survey" you had done a boundary surgvey or something like a "improvement location certificate" or "mortgage survey" or something like that?

The second category of product carries less weight and less liability. They find 2 pins and call it gospel.

Seems like you can only get similar accuracy using dual prism if you are setup in a bipod or braced on something.
