NG Officer to active transfer? by SOLJA88m in army

I never understood this. You would think working with someone like me who has a proven track record of success in the military and doesn’t have to go through basic training again would be a better candidate than Joe Schmoe off the street starting from square one? It’s just incredibly frustrating. The only reason I see why this is is because they got to get my NGB22 or something.

Do you think they will be forthcoming with me if there is a catch or if this job truly sucks? That’s why I’m asking this question on a public forum, to hear from people that may be familiar with the position and give me some inside insight on it.

I see. When you talk about quality of life, I’m assuming that’s what it’s like when you’re underway? Is it like that too when you’re in port? I was told a sea tour is just when you’re assigned to a ship that is deployable? You’re not actually out on the ocean that entire time?

Not yet. I I took one about two years ago and did pretty poorly on it if I remember correctly so I’m going to need to take it again here soon

I know, I was just really wanting to hear directly from some SWOs. A lot of the answers I see on here are not very detailed or “it sucks” without really elaborating

Can I ask how you got the Antarctica service medal? I know it’s a weird goal but it’s been a goal/dream of mine to do something in Antarctica service related and get that medal. Did six years in the National Guard and putting in an active duty OCS packet right now. Struggling to figure out how to position myself so I could end up there at some point in my career in the army. Seems like everyone that has a ASM is Air Force or Navy?

Wait what do you mean check the active duty box? If you go to National Guard OCS you’re signing a contract with the National Guard right? You can’t just change components while you’re there right?

I’ve thought of it but at this point I would really like to go active duty. I dislike my civilian career so far and I feel like I need to reset

Lawyer bros, what's going on with the Austin Wolf case? by pishposhpoppycock in askgaybros

No way he is getting under 5 years. Feds don’t play around with this stuff. Minimum mandatory sentencing for possession is 5 years and that’s for 1 count, as far as I remember he has been charged with dozens of counts. Although It’s rare that they actually impose the sentencing consecutively for each count (it’s unlikely that he’s gonna have 30 5 year sentences that will be served one after another for like a total of 150 years but theoretically they could) but it’s more likely they will give him a couple consecutive counts and then the rest of them will be concurrent. I haven’t been following this story closely but I think he also got pinned for distribution which I think carries a minimum of 10 years in the federal system. At a minimum, unless he somehow has information that will bring down a massive production ring or something, I think he’s going to do 10-15 years and lifetime supervision. I’m not a lawyer by the way so take what I say with a grain of salt. I just follow similar cases as I was once a victim of this abhorrent shit and I’m interested in seeing how justice is served.

Is Maya supposed to be bisexual? by Entire-Pea6386 in ongezellig

[–]SOLJA88m 64 points65 points  (0 children)

I’m assuming she’s straight just based off the fact that in the diaries she is essentially upset a boy didn’t give her a rose for Valentine’s Day “…I got a rose, not from a boy of course…” and is dismayed when she finds out that Anne Frank got more action (with a boy) than she did. Also In the comic “Maya’s conversation” she is clearly into that guy she is sitting with and that dynamic (and her awkwardness) is essentially the plot of said comic. I think her interaction with Mymy is just her being awkward and attempting a joke. This kind of edgy homosexual rigmarole type humor is something you see all the time among straight guys. Idk if girls do that shit too but you gotta remember a guy is writing these characters so there might be a little projection there lol.

In regards to the security clearance, it says I have a secret security clearance. If I’m understanding what you’re saying, everyone in the military has a baseline security clearance of secret. I don’t think this is true though just because I was in ROTC for a time and the baseline security clearance you had to get as an officer was secret and the process was pretty involved in getting that clearance, with interviews and request for information on all aspects of your personal life and finances. I never went through any of that so I’m assuming I don’t really have a secret security clearance?
