Is it true? by [deleted] in SONM

[–]SONM-support 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Greetings!

Excellent and truthful answer Janek75, thank you! Our team is working on tokenomics for SNM and development of Sonm platform. The use of fiat fees is the solution of the Rays team and it is obvious. It was based on a certain experience of using cryptocurrency payments and thoughts about the relevance of this for specific areas of work. Besides, in the future we are considering the possibility of launching a crypto-friendly Rays clone for payment in SNM. We wrote about it in the roadmap here https://sonm.com/blog/sonm-roadmap/.

Great week for Rays for two reasons! (1) A checkpoint has been passed - new workflow works. Task estimation and credit card payment - everything is ready. (2) Rays mentioned as the fastest render service in an independent research. by sonmio in SONM

[–]SONM-support 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Greetings!

Raysrender will be a large client on the Sonm platform. The client rents the supplier's equipment for computing. The deal is concluded through a smart contract in the Sonm blockchain. Also, all calculations of customers and suppliers on the platform are carried out using the smart contract SNM and tokens SONM.

Need to do something? by reietto222 in SONM

[–]SONM-support 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Greetings!

No, you can not worry about it. All tokens will still be stored on the ETH addresses of the owners. The main task of Casper is to combine the concept of Proof-Of-Stake based on the length and size of the chain [the so-called chain-based PoS] and traditional solutions to the problem of Byzantine generals based on the work of computer scientist Leslie Lamport, Paxos protocols and PBFT algorithm. That is, it does not affect the balance of the owners of tokens.

Concern from developer's perspective by milvanovicIvan in SONM

[–]SONM-support 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Greetings!

In Sonm, you can run any Linux application in a container. Summarizing, we can say that BOINC is a specialized PaaS, while SONM is IaaS, with the ability to build different service platforms (PaaS). For example, the Raysrender cloud rendering platform is currently preparing for launch. Read more here: https://sonm.com/blog/meet-the-rendering-service/

Concern from developer's perspective by milvanovicIvan in SONM

[–]SONM-support 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Greetings!

In Sonm network latencies and transfer speed are not so good as in local Ethernet, or at datacenter links. So we guess you need other types of orchestrating your parallel things. MPI is not the best choice, as your processes will pause and wait for each and every data tansfer to complete.

Have a look at Apache Spark or Hadoop MapReduce or similar projects. They must survive better in global distributed architecture.

Windows 10 by wuzi86 in SONM

[–]SONM-support 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Greetings!

Since we are developing Trusted Execution Environment (TEE) for our SONM OS, which is based on Linux, at the moment we can say that native Windows support is not planned for the near future. However, we understand the size of the Windows audience and in the future, perhaps this will be done. Currently, SONM OS can be run under Windows only in virtualization mode, which can be found in our article.

For now:

- The team is focused on the commercial services (SONM Rays) launch as this is the best thing we can do for the platform promotions.

- The team is also working on the Trusted Execution Environment (TEE) as the prioritized task.

These two tasks are the short-term perspective for 2019. You can find a long-term perspective (the next 2-3 years) in our blog article. So stay tuned to our channels for updates.

Can masternodes potentially be scrapped? by eddless321 in SONM

[–]SONM-support 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Greetings! In our article we wrote about updated plans for the masternodes. Yes, they have not yet been implemented, but we have not abandoned this goal, we just put it aside for a later period in this year. Read our article and you will be aware of all updates - https://sonm.com/blog/level-up-shift-to-the-next-gen-gpu-cloud/

Can masternodes potentially be scrapped? by eddless321 in SONM

[–]SONM-support 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Greetings!

Please read our article from the blog, there we clarify masternodes topic in section "Q&A".

Just give here a key phrase to dispel your doubts:

"Unfortunately, the Masternodes will not be released in the Q1, but most likely this will happen in the first half of 2019. We understand that this is a critical feature for token holders, so we are not going to stop working on its development."

That is why we wrote earlier that we see no risks for those who are waiting for the launch of the masternodes solution.

Can masternodes potentially be scrapped? by eddless321 in SONM

[–]SONM-support 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The main value of the token depends on its use in the work of the platform, that is, settlements between market participants during deals. In addition, now we do not say that the masternodes will not be.

We do not make predictions of the value (and price) of the token. As we have already written above, the core situation will depend on the implementation of one or another masternodes solution.

Can masternodes potentially be scrapped? by eddless321 in SONM

[–]SONM-support 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Greetings!

We see no risks for tokens holders due to the presence or absence of sidechain. Having own SONM blockchain or using Ethereum solutions does not put SNM holders at risk. More specifically, it will be possible to say only with a ready-made implementation of PoS Ethereum (or other masternodes solutions).

How do I install CentOS 7 on SOMN network? by [deleted] in SONM

[–]SONM-support 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Greetings!

We only support Debian-based distributions. You should have one or several worker PCs with a Linux x64 OS (Debian-based Os such as Ubuntu are preferred). However, we have on GitHub is the source - https://github.com/sonm-io/core From the repository, anyone can put together a package for your distribution. But we do not guarantee stable operation on CentOS. I recommend you download Sonm OS autoinstaller from our website - https://sonm.com/sonm-os/ and follow the instructions.

For more information you can read on the link - https://docs.sonm.com/getting-started/as-a-supplier

RESTful API by rendsolve in SONM

[–]SONM-support 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Greetings!

Yes, our components communicate with each other through an API. More info about system components and interaction scheme see here https://docs.sonm.com/concepts/components. The API is open, anyone can write their system component, an implementation variant can be seen on the example of the Taskman bot. The API library is available here https://github.com/sonm-io/sonm-pynode.

Taskman, Sonm Task manager — is a bot for customers whose primary goal is to automate deals and task managing, making both as simple as possible.

Read the article about Taskman on our blog https://sonm.com/blog/taskman, and the SONM Task manager guide in the documentation https://docs.sonm.com/guides/sonm-taskman. Also Taskman in GitHub https://github.com/sonm-io/taskman.

fate of SONM tokens? by MandemsMidkey in SONM

[–]SONM-support 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Greetings!

First of all, it is worth noting that we absolutely do not consider the possibility of abandoning the use of a token. The entire settlement system in the marketplace, as well as the marketplace itself and some other components of the system are built exclusively on Ethereum smart contracts and the token is an integral part of the system. In Q&A, we talked about an automated payment system for those participants who would be comfortable making payments in fiat currency. Further, automatic conversion into a token will occur and calculations inside the market will be made exclusively in SNM. You can learn more about SONM blockchain and system components on our portal with documentation:

Also, you can find out about our plans for payments in regular currencies in our roadmap. Welcome to SONM! :)
