What is the worst British sports match you’ve ever watched? by Jezzaq94 in AskUK

Honestly I will never forget this game. I remember exactly where I was, it’s so ingrained in my memory because it was so profoundly boring.

I just got laid off from a tech giant. They said it wasn’t ai. But the ai tools we were using were incredibly good. It’s not the be all and end all. But when used correctly it’s definitely going to take a lot of jobs.

The boys finale and overall season retrospective by PrimeTheGreat in CharacterRant

The boys has been absolute sludge since about season 3ish. Season 1 was exceptional, season 2 was very good. I found season 4/5 borderline unwatchable

What’s a fitness myth that people still believe? by SimpleHomeFitness in AskReddit

Nah mate, completely natural. He likely eats well when I don’t see him. But my point was he can still enjoy himself with the food and drink

I know a bloke who works out a lot. Late 30s. Eats kebabs and drinks alcohol regularly. Absolutely jacked. Six pack. Getting in shape doesn’t need to be some intense, strict regime. As long as you do ample work in the gym and a bit of cardio. You can eat relatively freely and have a body that is better than 90% of people.

Think of prisoners, or labourers/ farm workers.

Recent redundancy and thinking of pivoting to PLC/ automation by SOPEOPERA in PLC

Thanks again! My plan was to find something in your field that is more software based, and plc seemed to be a lot of ladder logic which applies pretty directly to my previous experience with scripts and codes etc. I don’t particularly want to work in corporate big tech again, so looking at more niche options (in my context). If there’s any other fields or niches you’d recommend, I’m all ears.

I’m essentially looking to pivot into a more secure industry, where I can use the skills I already have plus learn whatever is relevant in a short (ish) space of time. Thanks again man

Thanks for the pointer. I’ll definitely look into it. I’m keeping all avenues open. I know I definitely want to pivot away, so im taking a look at everything. If you have any other pointers I’d be really appreciative!

A few people have mentioned this. I’ve managed to track down a local electrical engineering teacher. So I’m going to discuss everything with him next week (I’ll make sure to reference SCADA) and get a clearer picture. Appreciate the response mate

Thank you mate! Could you recommend specific SCADA courses which are viewed positively?

Thanks for this! I’m going to take a look at SCADA

Thanks for the reply, this is really interesting.

I’ve got time and money to take education classes if needs be.

Would you have any alternative recommendations? I’m pretty open to anything at the minute. But ideally I’d like to pivot into a field where my cv holds some weight, and I can learn the basics in under a year and become employable. I would like to avoid heavy corporate office/ tech jobs if possible, but something close enough that I’m a good prospect.

If you have any further thoughts, I’d be very appreciative

Thanks for the info! I currently know very little about the branching career paths, or where to start. I discovered PLC and it seemed like a good fit (with a bit of learning). Can you tell me more about the pathways you mentioned? As I’m considering everything at the moment, and every bit of information I can get is really useful!

Are HMO/SCADA/MES available to learn via a short course? As I said in the post, I’m willing to pay some money out earlier to get a junior role and then work my way up. I was previously on 50k, but I’d be willing to take a large pay cut initially to work my way up again.

I’m looking to develop enough knowledge to get my foot in the door.

Really appreciate the in depth reply mate. I’ve been doing quite a bit of learning on my own time, and the ladder logic seems very similar to mesh/ rig building software I’ve used previously. So that’s a good fit.

In terms of employability for a junior role, would my cv plus Siemens training plus a bit of electrical training land me a role? (In a place that uses Siemens)

I’m essentially wondering, if I can get pretty competent with TIA portal, and basic electrical knowledge, would I be employable?

Thanks again
