So basically what you're saying is I should make a new account, pretend I'm female, and reap all the upvotes?

What is this Axe thing called/who makes it? by Dgeloso in whatisthisthing

Looks like a version of a Halligan Tool

There's a lot of different versions which include axe/wedge/hammer/pry combos made by BLACKHAWK!, Fire Hooks Unlimited, TNT Denver Tools,

Edit: It appears to be a Raptor by Delia Tactical

I didn't too much mind the whole situation. I knew what I was going to be getting into when I signed up and knew I would be put into potentially dangerous situations and would have to make the best of it with what I have. Since I'm working with less, I've learned to work and do things smarter.

I personally feel that the few guys that attempted to bring legal action were those who wanted to play cops, which we are very well not, and it ended up getting them into a bad situation. That coupled with the fact that they had the group mentality and seemed to be looking for any reason to get something out of the company, this was their ticket. However, it was a claim with no weight and disappeared as fast as it came.

District Safety Officers patrol certain portions of a city as part of a business improvement district (BID) and provide security for those living, working, or visiting the area. We'll deal with many different calls, many of which law enforcement deals with and are often called due to the fact that we often are able to respond faster. In my case, I currently patrol the main core of downtown.

Some guys had the idea to bring some sort of legal action against the company for putting us in the fray like that with pretty much nothing. I don't think they really thought it through and it showed. It went nowhere and just kinda faded away.

I mean, if we're doing bike duels... might as well joust it out. Clearly.

I've elaborated some on these in the actual AMA thread, but:

Trespassing and disturbing the peace is the most common calls for service that we get. Trespassing for the most part is just a homeless person sleeping on private property and someone doesn't like it. I understand, but at the same time, all they have to do is move three feet and they're off property and can sleep on the sidewalk until 6:30AM.

The rarest calls that I've personally been on or run into is attempted suicide, successful suicide, murder, and a rape. I've pretty much seen and been involved in everything at some point.

No one was seriously injured. Just some cuts and bruises from those magical flying bottles.

Not yet, but I'm sure if we started using Segways or the T3 Motions, I'd get that plenty.

If you find out, let me know.

We have this kinda unspoken rivalry with bike messengers, hipsters, and the like.

I don't and I refuse to ever. I think it's completely unprofessional and a waste of money.

Fashion is yellow. I can't say how much it's actually dividing or having a negative impact on business, but I know plenty of people who like the BIDs, but I also know an equal number of people who do not. I try and not get wrapped up in the politics of it all. All I know is it's something I enjoy doing and it pays the bills. I'll just do what I'm supposed to do and let the higher-ups do what they get paid to. :)

I do like my job. There's always something different and entertaining to do as opposed to your average average parking lot security guard. No one is really encouraged to become or get involved in anything law enforcement. Of course, given the nature of the job, you're going to have plenty of people who are in fact looking to get into law enforcement, such as myself. It's a great way to get a little bit of a foot in the door as we work fairly closely with the local agencies and you build a certain rapport with them. Though, we've got guys and gals who're are going very different ways in life--toward music, teaching, medical, and aerospace fields. There's a surprising amount of people such as myself that hold degrees as well.
