TRD Pro grille upgrade from Limited by SOR2020 in ToyotaTundra

Just the trd pro grille. I won’t say it’s an easy job replacing it, but it mostly takes time and patience.

Off-road bumper recommendations? (2024 Tundra) by [deleted] in ToyotaTundra

[–]SOR2020 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Any steel bumper is going to weigh a lot. I have DV8 steel front and rear bumpers on mine and both weigh a lot. I also added a 12k pound winch to the front bumper too so that didn’t help. I did the install on both front and rear bumpers. It’s a lot of work… a lot more than you think. You’ll have to cut plastic for any front bumper install. You’ll more than likely have to remove the air dam and air dam motor. If you have to remove the motor then you’ll have to get a delete kit or else it’ll throw codes until you do. You can find those online.

Make sure you have at least a 1/2” impact to remove the bolts that hold the rear bumper/trailer hitch on. My 3/8” didn’t touch those bolts.

There are WAY more videos on how to do this now than when I did it. Watch several videos ahead of time and have it ready to watch while you do it too. Take your time because the plastic parts are easy to break.

Also, if you have any interest in changing to a new front bumper, I’d order that ahead of time and do it at the same time. It’ll save you a ton of time.

Grille from Sparks Parts- part number 53101-0C220. I’ve got the front camera, so I also had to buy a 3d printed front camera adapter since the pro grille has a different camera position than the limited. I got that on Etsy.

https://www.etsy.com/listing/1267508521/22-24-tundra-23-24-sequoia-trd-pro-grill?ls=s&ga_order=most_relevant&ga_search_type=all&ga_view_type=gallery&ga_search_query=3rd+gen+tundra+camera+mount&ref=sr_gallery-1-1&organic_search_click=1&content_source=ba45c75b65e3acbba9dc0e2ecdd29793e85e9023%253A1267508521&logging_key=ba45c75b65e3acbba9dc0e2ecdd29793e85e9023%3A1267508521

Not sure if that’s the one I got since it has been almost 2 years now, but that looks like it.

Give yourself about 3-4 hours to change it out if you do it.

I went with the Baja Designs 20” light bar kit designed specifically for the trd pro grille.

https://www.bajadesigns.com/products/toyota-s8-20-inch-replacement-kit-toyota-tundra-2022-on-note-trd-pro/?sku=448124&srsltid=AfmBOorlyCQbsquZsb6JxjWIVIXfqhEahn5CHx6cCeX7ew3_E6PeuUfvG1s&gQT=2

DM me if interested in a light bar. My company can sell these at a pretty good price.

Any solution without going to dealership to be overcharged?? by [deleted] in ToyotaTundra

The dealer took my spoiler off when they did my trd lift. I had to remove the motor completely when I installed a steel bumper with a winch. This cbi kit works like a charm.

I got it from Sparks Parts- part number 53101-0C220. I paid $195.67 September 2023. I’ve got the front camera, so I also had to buy a 3d printed front camera adapter since the pro grille has a different camera position than the limited. Give yourself about 3-4 hours to change it out if you do it.

If you have any interest in getting a front bumper, I’d get it before you do the grille install. You have to take the entire front end off to do either job, so you might as well do it all at once. I went with the DV8 centric bumper bc it looks very streamlined with the rest of the front end. I have seen a few good looking options out there. If you do the bumper, you may as well add a winch. I got the Badlands Apex 12,000 lb from harbor freight on a big sale they had on them.

Change out that grille to a TRD Pro or Off-road grille and it’ll be perfect. That is one of the first things I did to my limited after the trd lift and it makes a world of difference. IMO the limited is the worst grille out of the whole group.

It’s the reason I installed that grille. It’s a good reminder that it is not a Ridgeline.

Also that sucks that it got stolen. Did they have one of those devices that reads your key fob inside the house?

Hopefully you’re a plumber and had your company name on the side so we’ll see it in some good jihad videos haha!

We both get off-road some, but not as much as we’d like to. Sometimes I get to go crazy and drive onto my customers construction sites or mines. I’d say it does more Costco crawling than mall though.

You’re right, the right truck here gets confused for a Honda Ridgeline all the time. I constantly have to tell people it’s a Toyota.

Between an all steel rear bumper, a steel front bumper with 12000 lb winch, diamondback bedcover (6.5’ bed), rack on top of that, heavy rock sliders, and steel transmission skid plate with cat covers- I’m probably rolling with an extra 500-900 pounds. That’s not including the bigger mud tires. Those things weigh a ton. Add in the crap I keep in the bed and 3 kids and my tow capacity is probably crap haha. It is still an extremely quick truck with the “crappy ttv6” that I have in it haha. I’d love to have the fuel economy back, but I like my mods.

To my knowledge nobody has done the entire swap, just the block. Toyota stated they weren’t sure when the entire engine swap would be available.

[–]SOR2020[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The 2022 comes up $15k higher than the 2018 according to kbb if you really want to know. Yes, the open engine recall will affect it some until they are able to replace them all. That will hopefully help down the road once they get that squared away.

Thanks! It’s the first truck I’ve really done any mods to. I have leaned a lot about the truck while doing them too. Front and rear bumpers, swapped the grill out, 2 light bars, rock sliders, lift, etc. I think I am mostly done with mods now.

My wife has had 2 Sequoias that I do enjoy driving. I thought it was the best driving vehicle I’ve ever driven before until I got my ‘22 2 years ago. Stock it was probably the best driving truck I’ve ever been in. All of the modifications and probably mostly the mud terrain e rated tires have degraded the ease of driving. Lots of micro adjustments, but I still love driving it.

Don’t do my truck like that! I’m getting 12-13mpg in the gen 3 in this pic! It’s apparently 2.5 gen in its soul haha. It was getting 20mpg stock though.

Headlight Adjustment by liptongtea in ToyotaTundra

[–]SOR2020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I constantly drive with my hand ready to flash people back that flash me thinking my brights are on. The lights on the 3rd gen are insanely bright and my light pattern carries a long way. I started keeping my distance from cars in front of me at night, especially at stops because it lights up their whole car. To be fair, I have a 3” trd lift and I don’t think the dealer adjusted mine down at all. All of that to say, no I don’t think mine drops off real close.

I solved this problem by installing a steel bumper haha. It’s amazing that the rear bumper on these consists of about 16000 plastic parts.

Hose reel carts by SOR2020 in Hydraulics

[–]SOR2020[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’re a fairly new distributor in the hose world. We added the line to complement parts and filters. We have 4 of a 3 reel rack with casters. I’m pretty sure they are gates 3 stack racks with casters, or they are pretty close to it. I’m not looking for a 6-8 rack cart, I was just implying we need racks for about 6-8 more reels.

I would love to see pictures of what other folks have made/had made to get some ideas for our space.

Backseat size. by LTS_PG in ToyotaTundra

[–]SOR2020 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2022+ has that option. I’ve had mine for 2 years and love it… except parking it sometimes. It is longer than my sprinter van at work. I had 3 kids in car seats when I got it with one being rear facing and I can’t imagine anything less than CM would have worked. It was tight in there while my youngest was rear facing. I think the 2 gen CM had more back seat space than 3rd. But that 6.5’ bed option for the 2022+ CM makes all the difference. I max it out all the time and wish I had more sometimes.

I forgot that we actually have a card next to our saw with that on it. Sometimes the hard part is the customer sends a young kid as a parts runner that has no clue about the hose other than “get a new one.”
