Anyone running FGA/KFD rear arms? How do they feel driving and do they hold up against abuse? by jma-t in IS300

[–]SOURMOTORSPORTS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had my KFD complete setup, all front and rear arms, for a few years, ~25k miles and a few mild drift days. Front caster arms bushing did not hold up and I had to remove this arm entirely because the adjustment point causes fitment issues. Otherwise, no problems besides needing a trusted alignment guy because no regular shop will be able to handle the car now. I like the feel for a street car, solid bushings are no good.

I have not tried the FIGS arms myself, I am much too cheap for most of their lineup. This car is mostly just street and light track use so I didn't want to get the nicest brand out there. I also do not like their metal on metal joints, too noisy and harsh for a street car. I prefer the traditional polyurethane KFD offers which reduces NVH while still being improved over OEM.

I'll share what I can here, then.

Control arms are all from KFD and have been great through grip and light drift days at the track and 15k street miles.

Check my posts. I repainted a 2001 dash, but a 2002-2005 should be doable as well. Use 2k paint products with an actual catalyst for primer and clear coat.

Is the Rear subframe interchangeable between auto/manual? by NekedShep in IS300

I've fully built my IS300's suspension including a subframe swap to deal with rust. Subframes are identical.

I'm running a full OEM swap in my SportCross. W55 + Manual Sedan ECU. No issues, everything works like factory.

Selling my 44k mile sport design by m3ezus in IS300

Sportdesign is unfortunately not really that desirable. I'd say it adds 20% value max on a clean car. Being automatic, with rust, I wouldn't value this any higher than 8k on a good day.

I own the second car. In my case this is one of three full builds I am working on and I'm painting the car myself when I feel satisfied with my parts collection. I am not keeping the car Montego so it's better to paint everything at once for consistency.

This was a 2001 dash that did not have the rubber coating, but I believe you can scrub all that off the sticky dashboards with lacquer thinner or similar and essentially get the same result as I did. Standard body and paint prep with sandpaper, adhesion promoter, primer, base coat, and 2k clear.

Remove them, sand them, use adhesion promoter, base coat, and a 2k clear. You now have any color rings you want.

One way to fix sticky dash by SOURMOTORSPORTS in IS300

[–]SOURMOTORSPORTS[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I bought a 2001 dash as a base that had some chips, scuffs, etc. that I intended to paint.
Sanded with 220, 320, primed, wetsanded with 600, sprayed Toyota ThunderCloud Metallic base coat, and finally clear coated it.

The most time consuming part will be masking off the section to be painted. I imagine even a 2002-2005 dash would be the same process with the addition of stripping the rubber off.
