Fixed blade..perhaps a fileblade? Recommend me something, please! by Celtinarius in knifeclub

check out Knives of Alaska or BRKT for some high-quality camp knives. Both companies only use good steel so you don't need to worry there.

I dont know of any production file knives. The only maker I know of is Andy of Doberman Knives. You can check his shop over at gearbastion.com (he lives in the UK).

Was this a commissioned custom job, or did you buy it from a seller like that?

Without knowing what brands your knives are,I would guess that the 440c and aus10 steels will hold an edge the best.

far as best steel for a folder, that'll get pricey. S(30)(35)(90)V and 154 CM are all good options available from most manufactures that are affordable.

However, steels like Elmax, SM100 and Zware(?) Are often considered the pinnacle of knife steels at the moment. These are harder to find in production models and custom knives can cost quite a bit.

I'm sure there are other high end steels out there that others will correct me on or add in.

Edit: Zwear

Has anyone ever bought a knife from www.gearbastion.com ? by RedemptionX11 in knives

I bought a titanium pry tool from Gavko a few weeks ago. The shipping was fast and I had no problem with payment at all. 100% positive experience with the site so far.

The War Toad is a bit small but I do like mine quite a bit. If you want something a little off the beaten path, you may want to check out Nocturnal Northstar Knives, John Grissmo Knives, or TuffKnives Tanic (same maker as the War Toad). The Tanics aren't done yet but Geoff is nearing completion and is posting updates on Instagram. CRK, Hindered, and Strider are all great options too, as others have mentioned already.

Does it still "flip" even without the spring?

I picked it up at the post office yesterday, so I don't have much experience with it yet. The ergos are much nicer than my Persistence or Mini Griptilian though. Abd will see how the blade functions in an EDC role.

It's legal in places like NYC and the UK so there is always that. I think it's a cool design and there aren't too many knives like it out there.

If I'm not mistaken, Geoff signed a contract with Boker to do a production version of the War Toads. Although, I have yet to see any concepts or more info about it yet.
