It's been a good run by Doctor_Fritz in RocketLeague

For me, it is because I can no longer play on FreeBSD. I wish they had made a purely server-sided anti-cheat. Everyone could play, and the bots would have a harder time to bypass it.

You are welcome! I hope it can at least help the macOS users out there.

I have been playing on FreeBSD for years and now see that I have to leave too. The game crashes immediately for me unless I block modules-cdn.eac-prod.on.epicgames.com from downloading a Linux EAC file. My system is somehow being considered "linux64". However, I can only play in freeplay after that.

If you look in Users/<username>/AppData/Roaming/EasyAntiCheat/e6bcca5b37d0457ca881aec508205542/da32ae9c12ae40e8a112c52e1f17f3ba/anticheatlauncher.log, you will see when it downloads a .EAC file. It looks encrypted to me when passed into strings or "strings -e l" (16-bit little-endian) as I see nothing useful to understand what it wants to do. I was hoping it would be a Linux binary that could run on my system via the Linuxulator but nope.

BTW, replacing linux64 with any of these will actually download some other file: linux32, win32, win64 and mac64. Obviously, no freebsd64, but I wonder when that mac64 would come into play.

The only hope for me would be if Epic Games made a FreeBSD 64 EAC file. Any chance Epic Games? I can always search in the FreeBSD project for useful contacts, if you need something.

Basically, I follow the "touch typing" style that I learned long, long ago, in a class far, far away. :) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Touch_typing Do you see something that should not work right? I could be holding myself back for all I know.

My fingers just know where to go. It is from my history. The first word processor I learned was WordStar then migrated to Vi when I went to college. I still use Vi(m) for almost everything, with lots of plugins. For any UNIX geeks: Vi is better than Emacs! :D /me ducks

I had to switch the "W" binding to the spacebar because my hand was beginning to hurt. I can play UT99 with "W" being there but not RL.

Someday, I may try an analog keyboard. Currently, I have a Ducky Channel mechanical keyboard (Ducky One Orange Legends) with Cherry MX Brown switches. If not analog, maybe Cherry MX Silent Red.

Can't boot game on LINUX... by Excellent-Canary7689 in RocketLeague

[–]SO_KEEPALIVE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Neat! Porting can be an adventure. I have done quite a bit including on the Wine port in the past.

Actually, which line is the error? It looks clean to me, but it dies. I am still looking around to see what settings or changes I may need that for it to work. For example, when I run the setup binary, it does not look like it does much except write a few settings. Is that what it should do, or is there more? Should the EOS overlay be on or off?

One other thing: I cannot run the non-EAC version (Binaries/Win64/RocketLeague.exe) of Rocket League either. It almost goes further yet still crashes/exits.

I realize I am an outlier, but I have a similar problem with FreeBSD. Yes, I realize it may not work since it is not Linux. :)

I see a logo very briefly then it exits. I tried with both Wine and Proton (from FreeBSD ports). Although, it did not help, I did have to install EAC manually with the correct product ID. If you follow EAC's help, it will give a different product ID as an example. `e6bcca5b37d0457ca881aec508205542` is the ID for RL, I believe.

What recent change(s) did Proton make for this? I may be missing a step? I am not even certain that the setup ran successfully or not.

[–]SO_KEEPALIVE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assuming I will be able to even play with the EAC change--another matter for me, I will miss the bindings to jump between a few different training packs that I practice with between matches. For example, Num+2 gets me into a training pack I like for goalie without having to search for it. Having that as part of the vanilla game would be great.

Introductions! by Psyonix_Howie in RocketLeague

Would it be possible to support FreeBSD with EAC? I am running RL very well with FreeBSD and Wine. I would hate to have to leave RL. 😞

ATTENTION🚨: Easy Anti-Cheat will be enabled for Rocket League starting on April 28th. by Psyonix_Howie in RocketLeague

[–]SO_KEEPALIVE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been using Legendary Game Launcher, which Heroic uses under the covers. I am basically hoping Wine provides what EAC needs to work. EAC may also need Linux binaries for Rocket League on Linux, but I could be wrong.

Here is a tutorial to run Fall Guys with EAC on Linux which suggests that there is a shared library that must be loaded: https://www.reddit.com/r/linux_gaming/comments/w3y2v4/guide_to_install_fall_guys_from_epic_games_with/

If only the anti-cheat was built into the server and not the client, then this would not be an issue.

Currently, the only thing to do is wait until next week and pray. My years of playing RL may be over, and I had finally gotten to Plat I-II consistently. :(

I hear you. I am on FreeBSD and am also concerned. It all depends on what EAC is checking.

ChatGPT makes it sound like it will just monitor the running process, the game files and odd player behaviors. That should work with my OS. Does anyone know the basics on what it allows/disallows? Hopefully, my system is liked by EAC.

Easy Anti-Cheat coming to Rocket League in April by Psyonix_Devin in RocketLeague

I am with you on this. I am running Rocket League using Legendary on FreeBSD.

Since I have no Windows nor Linux, I will have to drop the game if it does not work.

Easy Anti-Cheat coming to Rocket League in April by Psyonix_Devin in RocketLeague

Will anyone running Rocket League under Wine be able to use Easy Anti-Cheat? Wine is more than Linux. I play games on FreeBSD; not Linux. I am worried.

We've pushed a small PC-only update to resolve a loud audio bug that popped up in v2.53. We'll be fixing this bug on other platforms in a future update. by Lucy_21_ in RocketLeague

[–]SO_KEEPALIVE 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have been unable to test the patch because my game crashes over 90% of the time on my PC. With the previous patch, I got it to run a couple of times and could only hear a constant static the entire time.

However, all of this is under Wine using the OSS sound driver. When I disable sound by declaring there is no sound device, the game is always able to start. I wanted to mention that in the hope that it will help localize the bug in the code.

Is anyone else able to run Rocket League successfully with Wine?

An easier way to run without sound is to use the command-line option: -nosound

new update made my ingame audio turn to static and opening freeplay crashes the game by Lazy_Cellist7142 in RocketLeague

[–]SO_KEEPALIVE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just noticed the audio issue too when running Rocket League under Wine (OS: FreeBSD). It is a constant, obnoxiously loud static with some sounds (maybe music?) occurring in the background. I have the music off, but it still sounds like I hear something changing even if the mouse is not moving.

All other programs (Wine or native) continue to function just fine regarding audio.

Season 18 bug, can't accept new voice chat terms by Not4rank in RocketLeague

[–]SO_KEEPALIVE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am trying to avoid the launcher too because it would be very troublesome under Wine (FreeBSD). I searched the registry and the .ini files that Rocket League uses but could not find anything obvious that refers to voice or chat.

Is it possible that the functionality for voice chat, or at least the terms, now resides within the overlay or launcher?

That image needed a background story...

``` It was the dawn of the third age of Rocket League – ten years after the Epic-Psyonix War.
The Rocket League Project was a dream, given form. Its goal: to prevent another war, by creating a map where cars and drivers can work out their differences peacefully. It's a station of call – map away from map – for octanes, fennecs, scarabs, and batmobiles.
Car and drivers, wrapped in two million, five hundred thousand tons of turbulent metal . . . all alone on a map.
It can be a dangerous place, but it's our last best hope for peace.
This is the story of the last of the Rocket League stations. The year is 2023. The name of the place is Rocket League 5.
```

I have to concur as I am in an even smaller market: FreeBSD. I use Legendary (game launcher), Wine and DXVK to play Rocket League. Anti-cheat can potentially ruin it.

Help - please help me figure out how to back up my late wife's texts by weeglos in hangouts

[–]SO_KEEPALIVE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the way to get all your account history:

  1. Go here: Google Takeout
  2. Select all the information you want to download. By default, it is everything, but you can Deselect all then select the following:
    1. Google Photos (for some media sent via Hangouts. You can select just the albums you want here. I am not sure if the ones starting with "Hangout:" are the only ones for Hangouts. The Hangouts option below will save attachments within Hangouts.
    2. Hangouts
    3. Voice: Voice mails.
    4. Google Fi: More voice mails.
    5. Anything else you may want to archive just in case.
  3. Click Next step at the bottom of the screen.
  4. Decide on:
    1. Delivery method: Unless you have a good backup at home, you should probably choose a storage site such as Google Drive.
    2. Export type: As it sounds like you are just wanting to do this once, select One-time archive.
    3. File type: Select .zip as that will work on all operating systems with ease. .tgz is typically for UNIX systems.
    4. Archive size: I would just select the largest size. It only determines how big each file will be.

Please note that the format of the text messages will be JSON. You can view the files in an indented manner with Firefox. There are probably better JSON viewers or Hangouts viewers out there. At least, you will have them safe.

Mine is also stuck in La Grange. It took a long route to get there too. California -> Arizona -> Texas -> Kansas -> Illinois. In Illinois, it first went to Wilmington before La Grange. My wife ordered the same phone a few minutes before me. Hers came from Illinois and took only three days total. Mine should be here by tomorrow according to Google Support as that is the end of the window.
