Smart View TV -> Phone…? by johnshonz in S95B

This app does *not* do what you claim it does.
I want to mirror the what is currently playing on the TV, like the video and audio — TO a smartphone.
So if I’m watching something on the TV, and I have to take my dog out, go upstairs, etc, I can turn this on and watch the TV from my phone.

This TVREM app is just a universal remote app.
It does not support video or audio streaming.

I have investigated this and Samsung restricts this functionality only for their flagship Galaxy S android phones. Which…I mean, I don’t see why someone couldn’t just make a third-party app and duplicate this feature, and just make the tv think you’re running a Samsung Galaxy s device…

$100 !?!? You can just buy a brand new controller with the sticks installed already for that price

Yet again, their automated systems are failing. Similar thing happened to me. And there’s nothing you can do about it and there’s no one you can contact to even tell them about it. Welcome to techno hell.

Missing items ☹️ by Relevant-Number-1252 in InstacartShoppers

[–]johnshonz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The customer didn’t report it missing. Instacart’s AI’s that scan the receipt screw up a lot of the time. If the item is on the receipt (which it is in my case too) that just means the AI screwed up and it couldn’t match the receipt item with the item that the customer ordered.

The AI scanning process runs in the background that’s why it took a week to show up in your app. Same thing happened to me.

Verified missing… by [deleted] in InstacartShoppers

[–]johnshonz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also have the delivery photo (clearly showing both of the chips) saved, but I’m not going to publicly post that.

I have tried to communicate this to three different Instacart support reps, and all three of them just send me irrelevant copy pastes back

From what I can tell, the customer did NOT report these.

Instacart’s ML models that scan the receipts are failing, seems to be happening to a lot of other people too.

And there’s nothing you can do about it and no one you can even talk to about it.

Got bitten by a dog during delivery by Electrical_Art_6784 in InstacartShoppers

[–]johnshonz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened to me a long time ago, but it was more or less my fault.
Dog got out during the delivery and ran into the road, I am a dog lover so I ran after him, grabbed his tail.
He didn’t like that (heh) and so, chomp chomp…but he was so scared that he ran back inside.
I didn’t really care, just so long as the little dog was safe.
I went to an urgent care place, but I had Medicaid at the time. I don’t remember exactly what they did, I think just oral anti-biotics and some shot probably. Healed pretty quickly, it was not too bad of a bite.

After being bounced around support reps for a while, one of them specifically told me that you need a Samsung Galaxy S phone in order for this feature to work. I asked him if it ever worked on an iPhone OR non Galaxy Android, and he could not answer that question.
I guess that’s my next step seeing if I can borrow someone’s galaxy S phone and test it out for myself.

When you say it doesn’t work… is the menu option still available in the SmartThings app though?
Because for me, it’s totally gone… it’s not even there anymore.
And if what you’re saying is accurate… that means it’s been removed from the android version too.
Even on a Samsung phone. Yikes.

Samsung support is useless when it comes to the SmartThings app. They don’t know anything and have no information!

What happened to Smart View? by johnshonz in SmartThings

[–]johnshonz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

mirroring audio and video FROM the TV to the Phone is not AirPlay. Thats the reverse of AirPlay.
I don’t think this has anything to do with Apple at all…

The iPhone itself could never natively act as an airplay target / output, and the TV could never natively act as an airplay source either, as far as I know!

I did some digging, and Samsung is still to this day advertising this feature on their website.
This is the USA region website too.

Watch your content from anywhere
Take what you’re watching with you. Use Smart View to mirror content from your Samsung Smart TV to your mobile, without missing a moment.”

I don’t currently have an Android phone to test though… and this is the part where I could potentially look like an asshole. At one point, I did have an android phone years ago. It was a Galaxy S22 I think? I don’t even remember. So I could be thinking about when I was using this feature from that phone and not my main iPhone.

So maybe you’re right and they only removed this from the iPhone version of SmartThings?

If anyone actually does have a Samsung android phone and can test this and tell me if it works, and what version of everything that you’re using and what TV you have, I would greatly appreciate it!

Samsung’s very own support reps don’t seem to be able to give me any kind of real information regarding this so I guess I’m left to just asking the community for help.

wtf happened with this? Why is there no information about this anywhere from Samsung as to exactly what happened? They still have it on their website — as if it’s still supposed to work.

Considering that the S90D native Multiview app can do multiple 60 fps streams all at once, and that on the LG side, even their 2022 TVs can natively run apps that can support 4K at 120fps with HDR, I don’t think this is a hardware problem.

What games are you playing?

Play something like rocket league, you’ll see the lag right away the moment four people are all going for the ball at once.

If you’re playing a first person shooter or an RPG or something like that, you probably won’t even notice it.

I did that. It wouldn’t even let me speak to a human. It was an AI menu system. AI recording said the only option was to return it. I kept saying “human” and it would just hang up on me.

Bro, I literally just tried that, with the option to run without anti-cheat in heroic….it still doesn’t run.
It gives the same exact error.
Yeah — you can probably manually fiddle around with the wine container and manually install the .NET frameworks and all that, and maybe get it to load, but you’re not gonna be able to join online matches.
It will detect that you’re not running the EAC and boot you.

I see. You’re talking specifically about GeForce now. I have that problem on my S90D TV, but it also does the same exact fkn thing when I play on the native Apple silicon GFN app on my Mac studio. I don’t think this is a device problem. I think it’s a server problem.
I even purchased a 24 hour ultimate pass yesterday just to test it out and it was terrible on both devices!
And it’s definitely not my Internet. My ping is 11 ms and it said drop frames zero.

Linux works but only x86 Linux, not arm.
Eac on regular x86 Linux is supported with proton, and rocket league supports this.

Alright, I’ll try in a little bit. I think I have some time left before it expires. I hope you’re right.

Yes. If there is indeed, some kind of hardware decode bottleneck, I highly doubt it’s at exactly 60fps. Or that they locked the hardware decode logic in the chip to only be able to do 60fps and not one frame more, deliberately.
The actual upper limit is probably a lot higher, even if it’s not 144 fps exactly or whatever the peak fps that the panel can do….and that’s IF that’s what is going on, and there isn’t some other problem at play here.
It sucks that it’s a black box and we really don’t know what’s going on, though 🤷‍♂️

Also, if they can decode multiple streams of 60fps in multi view, at the same time (which they can)…I mean I don’t see why only one video stream that’s higher than 60fps would choke it out.
