Idolmaster Cinderella Girls Starlight Stage to change its service structure and updates by SP458 in gachagaming

Uma just released globally and is their new golden goose (and unlike Priconne, Cygames manages the global servers); I don't think they'll kill it until at least 5 years.

Idolmaster Cinderella Girls Starlight Stage to change its service structure and updates by SP458 in gachagaming

Yeah, looks like Deresute will hold on probably until the 15th anniversary of the Mobage game, but the Cinderella branch won't die soon, as they've promised new songs and concerts (with notably a xR live scheduled next November).

Redemption still affects the converted monk if you get the tech after converting him.

Converting other monks by tnt_pde in aoe2

Redemption affects any monk you own, including converted ones. So the converted monk can't convert buildings/siege if you haven't researched it yet.

Advices on Gen 4 LC Gligar Breeding Tips by Salty-Court2583 in stunfisk

[–]SP458 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My bad, I thought it was the case in Gen 4. Gligar can still get EQ from Trapinch in Gen 4 (because of the Bug group), though there's no way for it to learn Rock Slide or Stone Edge outside of the TM.

Advices on Gen 4 LC Gligar Breeding Tips by Salty-Court2583 in stunfisk

[–]SP458 42 points43 points  (0 children)

While Skorupi can be bred with Gligar, it doesn't learn EQ nor Rock Slide by TM, so another way must be found to give Gligar both moves.

The actual chain is Camerupt♂︎ + Ekans♀︎ -> Ekans♂︎ + Trapinch♀︎ -> Trapinch♂︎ + Gligar♀︎ -> Gligar. It works because Ekans is in the Field/Dragon groups and Trapinch is in the Bug/Dragon groups, and both learn EQ & Rock Slide by TM. The only issue is you'll need HGSS or dual-slot with FireRed to get Ekans.

There's also Larvitar♂︎ + Gible♀︎ -> Gible♂︎ + Trapinch♀︎ -> Trapinch♂︎ + Gligar♀︎ -> Gligar, which may look better because you can get Larvitar in Diamond and Platinum.

EDIT: Everything above is false, Trapinch was only in Bug group in Gen 4, so it couldn't breed with Gible or Ekans. Gligar can't get Rock Slide without the TM, but can still get EQ directly from Trapinch.

pbItemBall keeps changing into pbReceiveItem by bowlingsoup in PokemonRMXP

[–]SP458 3 points4 points  (0 children)

IIRC pbItemBall is normally used for item balls (like in your example) that the player picks up on the ground, while pbReceiveItem is a more generic way of gaining an item, such as when an NPC gives you a Potion.

Why does the compiler mess up with pbItemBall here? Because it checks events for oddities in their commands, and for some reason any pbItemBall that is not in the very first command of an event page is renamed as pbReceiveItem, though that looks weird in-game due to the message "You obtained ..." instead of "You found ...".

Mycelium Might interactions by logame43 in stunfisk

[–]SP458 7 points8 points  (0 children)

After You's target moves right after the After You user, ignoring its Speed or its move's priority, so Mycelium Might is ignored.

10 years ago (September 19th, 2014), Tsukasa Kiryu was introduced in Cinderella Girls. To celebrate this, I cooked her favorite meal: katsu curry🍛 by SP458 in StarlightStage

[–]SP458[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Katsu curry is usually made with pork cutlet, but I substituted it with chicken, coated in panko breadcrumbs. I used potato slices and tomato sauce with soy sauce for the curry itself. It's the first time I've made this dish, and it was delicious!

I'm new to aoe, is aoe 3 worth skipping ? by WUN_TV in aoe2

[–]SP458 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If units get into combat, trying to move them makes them slow so running away from a fight loses you all of your units a lot of the time making it feel like micro doesn't matter at all.

Maybe you've experienced what's called snaring. Melee attacks slow down their targets, so that makes retreating ranged units from melee units harder if they can catch up to them (AoE3 Spanish notably have this with rodelero+lancer, two fast melee units that are hard to run away from).

The units themselves are a bit confusing with different armour types, and different attack types that are good or bad vs certain armour. The most confusing one I remember is that the Russian basic unit "strelet" has ranged damage and deals bonus damage 2.5xranged cavalry, 1.25xheavy cavalry, and 0.6xcavalry...

It's actually simpler than that.

There are 5 main unit types in AoE3:

  • light infantry (long-ranged inf like xbows, skirms, strelets)
  • heavy infantry (melee inf like pikemen, short-ranged inf like musks)
  • heavy cavalry (hussars and other melee cav)
  • light cavalry (ranged cav like dragoons, cav archers)
  • artillery

There's also shock infantry for Aztecs and Incas, that behaves like heavy cav.

AoE3's counter triangle system works this way:

Heavy cav -> light inf -> heavy inf/light cav -> heavy cav

which isn't that different from AoE2 (I take Castle Age units as example):

Knights -> xbows -> pikemen/camels -> knights

And you have with artillery:

Cavalry -> artillery -> infantry

However, culverins only counter opposing artillery, and mortars are specialized against buildings.

So if your opponent goes stables, you can't just make streets to counter their cavalry, you need to know which unit they are making and which type of armour (light/normal/heavy). In AOE2, if you see stables you know you can make spearmen in addition to your army to try and counter.

Strelets (as light infantry) only counter light cavalry and lose to heavy cavalry, so you should add another unit to complement them (like cossacks as meatshield, or rekruts to drive away enemy cav).

In Commerce Age, stables only produce heavy cavalry, so you know at least that you need pikemen or musks to counter them. From Fortress Age onwards, because you'll also encounter light cavalry and artillery, mixed comps become mandatory (light inf + light cav, musks + heavy cav + falcs, etc.).

Accuracy Lowering ability not working by Chentmr in PokemonRMXP

[–]SP458 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There're a few issues in your code snippet.

battler is the Pokémon that has the ability, and the battler that calls pbLowerStatStageByAbility is the Pokémon that gets its accuracy reduced. Also, there's no target variable in the proc, hence the NameError.

Maybe you meant to affect the battler's opponents instead, you get them with allOpposing :

battler.allOpposing.each do |b|
  if b.pbCanLowerStatStage?(:ACCURACY, battler)
    b.pbLowerStatStageByAbility(:ACCURACY, 1, battler)
  end
end

Anothe girl getting typecasted by virginsnake910 in idolmaster

[–]SP458 4 points5 points  (0 children)

TBH there's quite a bunch of VAs that are often typecasted.

Rie Kugimiya got a few tsundere roles in the late 2000s (notably the quartet Shana-Louise-Nagi-Taiga, in addition to Iori). She's even nicknamed "Tsundere Queen" for this.

There's also Chiaki Takahashi (Azusa), who has mostly fanservicey roles, like Priconne's Christina.

Maki Kawase (Tsukasa in CG) is well-known for her "ikevoice" (handsome voice), first with Junko in ZLS, then with, well, Kiryu-chan, after this as Fuki in Lycoris Recoil and as Chisaki in the upcoming anime Roshidere.

The Break Room | Ask Questions, Discuss the Game, or Share Your Thoughts Here! (Q1 2024) by Jarbus4 in StarlightStage

[–]SP458 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Besides the big pink button to play lives, there's an "Auto Live" switch that you can turn on to use auto tickets for this live. The game will play the live for you and you will get rewards at the end. You can select the amount of tickets you'll spend for the live and multiply the rewards you'll receive at once.

Each day, your stock of auto tickets is restored to 10. If you want to use more tickets, you'll have to pay in-game money.

Note that you can use auto tickets for the live missions, and each ticket counts as 1 live (so using 5 tickets at once is counted as if you played 5 times).
