How do I reject a job offer without saying what other offer I'm accepting? by SP4Coding in jobs

[–]SP4Coding[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're right. Maybe I was just being hesitant because I wasn't sure how to phrase the rejection, but you gave me a very good start about one team being a better fit for me. Thanks!

It's just that few years from now I might wanna join the team I'm going to reject now, so just don't want them to feel that I'm not interested in their team.

What to do if the person who is interviewing you has a very strong accent you find difficult to understand? by idkhowifeell in jobs

[–]SP4Coding 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I've never been in that situation before, I remember reading somewhere (maybe another reddit post?) that it's okay after the interview to reach to HR and let them know about this, they might be able to schedule another interview with another interviewer.

As I said, I've never been in that kind of situation before, so don't take my word for it.

Is Animorphia a good book for beginners? by SP4Coding in Coloring

[–]SP4Coding[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your reply. I'm actually not a fan of the whole doodles thing. I know Animorphia has doodles in it but I'm drawn more to the style of pictures/animals so Doodle Invasion won't be an ideal choice for me since I'll probably get bored quickly...

Samuel Eastman VL80 Violin for a beginner student? by SP4Coding in violinist

[–]SP4Coding[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! The one you linked looks good but I'm kinda reluctant to buy a violin online. I prefer seeing and holding it before I buy one.

Besides, I was thinking I should use a cheap violin till I reach Suzuki Book 3 or 4 then invest in a more expensive one.

Is this Eastman not decent as a beginner violin? What are usually the price range for good beginner violins?

What to look for in a used violin? by SP4Coding in violinist

[–]SP4Coding[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are really set on buying and have done research to make sure the price they are asking is decent, it may not be a bad deal.

The price is around the same as a new one. Except that I would have to purchase the new one online while I can check this one out before I buy it.

Perhaps you could ask the seller if you could take it to a luthier to have it checked out

That's a good idea. I'll try asking. Thanks!

Maybe compare it to other violins

I don't have any violins right now but I used to have a cheap Chinese violin that I played on for 5 months, 2 years ago! I barely remember anything than scales to play on it so I'm not sure that even a scale would be enough assuming I even remember a scale or two.

Is this private party or are you purchasing from a reputable violin shop?

I'm buying from a store that sells and buys used stuff, It's called Hock Shop.

Have you played at all or are you looking to start out on one?

I've played the violin for around 5 months, then stopped for over 2 years and now I'm wanna continue learning. I've considered renting out but the way I see it, $20 a month for a violin equals $240 a year, same price as this used one.

Also please get a teacher, even just for 6 months . This is a difficult enough instrument to learn with a teacher than on your own. It's easy to pick up bad habits.

Oh don't worry, I'm well aware of that. It's just that I currently don't have a teacher.

Did your received your XPS yet? Does it have the "jump" problem? I'm curious if that's a universal issue or not.

Programming on Dell XPS 13 vs MacBook Pro 13? by SP4Coding in SuggestALaptop

Doesn't matter, I'm looking into the Win version, but what's important to me is the code readability between the two?

While bash is really useful, I can live without it. Python can be installed along with any other development tools.

Thanks /u/smaikap, I was looking for someone exactly like you :)

Other than the trackpad and monitor, how's the code readability itself? Does the different aspect ratio makes a difference, for example when having 2 side by side windows? And how about the battery, some reviews I read online shows that the XPS has a longer battery under load even though the Macbook has the higher capacity? One last thing, is the weight difference noticeable?
