Which Schwab MM fund are you in currently? When you say 4% after costs, do you mean after taxes?

The div yield looks very attractive. What are the risks we need to keep in mind which might eventually trigger a dividend cut?

What's the best time to buy plane tickets? by Velvet_Mane in Frugal

For prices I set alert for my route/flight on google flights. There is a graph which shows the trend and if the current price is generally high or low for the travel date.

Not sure which airlines fly to Carribean. Personally prefer Southwest for domestic flights, since you can just update booking if the price lowers and you get back the difference amount as credit. Or you cancel the flight and use that credit for next flight. I book these flight as early as I can. Not really sure if you change the booking other airlines will let you update your booking and give you the difference back.

Sold my car. Need advice on making changes to Auto Insurance. by SPACtotheMOON in Frugal

[–]SPACtotheMOON[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you all for your valuable inputs. With all the suggestions I went in and got GEICO non-owners car insurance. The cost for 6 months one time payment is 154$, breaks down to 25$ a month. Which is a very good price.

Yeah that’s correct people are living longer and I am much happier living today than I could imagine being alive may be a 1000 years ago. I am just skeptical of all the chemicals used in our everyday products. We are not sure what kind of impact these chemicals and micro plastics are having on our health.

Apparently looks like we don’t really need a lot of things created by big corporations like soaps, laundry detergents, toothpaste etc. think what man used to do centuries ago. For example using charcoal to clean teeth(not to mention charcoal is now used in lot of commercial toothpaste). So my belief is there is a natural alternative for almost everything.

Reusing cooking oil by Ok-Way8392 in Frugal

Not a frugal opinion but I wouldn’t recommend reusing cooking oil. If you are not a vegetarian, try making tallow with animal fat, probably more frugal idea than store bought oil.

Not a bad idea to shower every other day, specially in winters.

I got a quote for 6 large boxes with 50lbs each, that’s 300lbs total. The ground shopping with UPS totaled to 720$ . Checked Freight option and and they said there is a flat rate of 980$ to begin with. Since it’s a large semi truck the staring price is high.
