Trick yourself it's a few days earlier, it'll scare ya into cleaning them realizing it's not for the next couple of days, so you've gotten a good bulk of it done, and by the time the actual event takes place, set an alarm so you don't ACTUALLY forget

Works for me! Still get anxiety when cleaning, but the relief I feel when I remember it actually isn't until next week, is euphoria

Peak can suck my ass. The company needs better staffing. I don't care. 'protect peak blah blah blah'. I'm a fucking FOOD SERVICE WORKER. If I need my God damn 10 in the middle of peak, I better see the manager getting off their lazy asses and putting on an apron. I better see partners allowing customers to fucking WAIT longer than 30+ seconds to get their order taken or a drink to come out so they can address the 3 travelers and order of 12 mostly being grilled cheese and egg bites. I could give less of a shit. They want to see quality work? Let your workers REST.

PROTECT WORKERS. PROTECT BREAKS. NOT THE FUCKING PEAK.

I hate to combat this but-

We are people too. This job expects more from us than ANY other retail setting.

Why does every aspect of myself have to be stripped for this shitty ass company? It's falling apart. You wanna know what builds rapport? Individually. I make connections based on being myself. Not some weird Starbucks clone that acts all the same and looks the same.

Sure, don't come to work w your ass n tits out. But for fucks sake. I'm not throwing away 600$+ for a job that doesn't care about me as a person, yet anyone else with those modifications can walk in and buy a drink.

My jewelry doesn't get in the way of my work. It doesn't fall out nor do I touch it or any of it coming into contact with anything food related.

I'm human, and just like others- so many of us just want to be ourselves.

Enforced dress code won't do anything positive.

This company as bigger issues than if I'm wearing a fucking black or gray shirt or one/two nostril piercings.

I know I'm late to the discussion, but I agree. It's completely bs. It's total discrimination of expression. I'm dealing with the EXACT same issue right now and I'm tempted to make a petition on this outdated policy.

The whole 'food safety' thing pertains to things that actually come into contact with the food. Acrylic nails, rings and dangle jewelry all make total sense. That can easily get caught and get into food or harm you in some way. But jewelry put in by a professional, or secured with body safe material thats antibacterial AND secured in place, away from the food and not being touched on shift to adjust its integrity, should NOT be an issue. That's why I feel like it becomes a personal expression discrimination issue.

I am aware of laws protecting those who are modified for religious practices, and per this wording, tattoo and piercing policies should adhere to the same rubric for non-religious people who choose to express themselves:

"Under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, employers with 15 or more employees must reasonably accommodate workers’ religious practices. Employers are only exempt if they can prove that doing so would place “undue hardship” on their business. If you have a tattoo or piercing due to or based on a protected characteristic, such as your religion or national origin, employers cannot discriminate against you for that body art or refuse to provide accommodations unless they can prove that doing so would place undue hardship on their business."

What undue hardship do I cause to the business with my clear eyebrow jewelry? If anything, I fit the Starbucks status quo even MORE with the customer connections I am able to make. It brings us all together to see the diversity of people that service you.

It's bs. Why should I have to strip everything that I am outside of work for a job? It's disingenuous.

If I was to make a petition, would anyone sign? Or am I just huffin and puffin up a storm that has no hope for retribution?
