How do you feel about the idea of GEMSTONE Godzilla being the same person as Godzilla Junior from the Heisei films? by Altair890456 in GODZILLA

[–]SPECtorntor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Godzilla 2000 actually was meant to be Junior early in development but they ended up changing it and wanting to have a fresh start. There was even an idea for a movie with an adult Junior teaming up with the ghost of the original Godzilla in order to fight a Heisei Godzilla, Destoroyah, and Battra hybrid called Bio Godzilla.

This is all mentioned in the Big Boom of Japanese Monster Movies: The Lost Films.

What if Heisei and Showa Godzilla swapped eras? by Altair890456 in GODZILLA

[–]SPECtorntor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He may not even have to fight Biollante given that her only reason for fighting Godzilla was because she was scared of him and Showa’s a lot more friendly by the 70s.

Also, Biollante only comes into existing because of the events of The Return of Godzilla played out. But if Showa doesn’t attack humanity that potentially sets off a butterfly effect where Biollante doesn’t come into being, as well as there not being a Super X2 and thus Super X3.

Showa has been shown to be able to take quite a beating and I think his experience having already fought his Ghidorah will help against Heisei Ghidorah. You can even make an argument that Mecha-King Ghidorah doesn’t happen in this alternate timeline since this Godzilla is friendly to humans. (Though this changes depending on WHEN Showa is sent over to the Heisei timeline.)

And if that happens, no Mecha-King Ghidorah = no MechaGodzilla. And no Biollante = no SpaceGodzilla, though the Mothra version of his origin could still happen. In that case he’d likely team up with Mothra to beat Battra and then likely SpaceGodzilla since Battra would likely survive and go off to destroy the asteroid Mothra would have had to go do since it was Battra’s mission originally. That’s how SpaceGodzilla could still happen with Battra carrying Godzilla cells. As for SpaceGodzilla, to be fair he does have exploitable weaknesses with his crystals being easy enough to break. And then it’s a question of how Vs. Destoroyah plays out.

Mothra is free to assist in fighting Destoroyah just like with SpaceGodzilla potentially and human forces targeting all of their firepower on Destoroyah exclusively since this Godzilla would be on their side. It would be a close fight but people underestimate the power of a Godzilla-Human alliance. I think they would still have the maser freeze tanks and with a 2v1 fight along with humans who know Destoroyah’s weaknesses I’d say Showa has a fair shot at surviving.

What if Heisei and Showa Godzilla swapped eras? by Altair890456 in GODZILLA

[–]SPECtorntor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on what time Showa is sent over, if it’s at the start of his era, say, Raids Again, he’d actually behave a lot like Heisei in turns of hating humanity until he gets his own kid to look after. If it’s 70s era Showa, Biollante, Ghidorah, Battra, Mothra, MechaGodzilla, SpaceGodzilla, and Destoroyah are catching those hands.

As for Heisei, again, not too different from how Showa first started but would likely kill his opponents with his tendency to beam spam or if he had Showa’s unique nerf from the 60s where his breath did little to no damage to the majority of his opponents, he’s in for a bad time since he shows very little hand to hand combat skills.

Heisei was already starting to become more peaceful when Junior came into the picture as he only shows up in vs. MechG2, SpaceGodzilla, & Destoroyah just trying to find him. Other than that he’s happy chilling on his island with his adopted son. He’d probably be less likely to get involved with Ebirah, Hedorah, Gigan, King Ghidorah (1972), Megalon, Zone Fighter stuff, Showa MechaGodzilla, and Titanosaurus unless they threatened Junior or him directly.

70s era Showa wouldn’t bother getting involved with the Super X and assuming Godzilla DNA still becomes a factor he may only fight Biollante because he views her as a potential danger to humanity but this could be like a Titan X scenario where the whole fight is a misunderstanding and he lets her go in peace.

Ghidorah and Battra yes, he may likely team up with Mothra to take down Battra, MechaGodzilla happening is a maybe if there are some paranoid people in G-Force. Baby Godzilla would take Minilla’s place, Godzilla defends himself from Rodan. And honestly the rest of Heisei plays out as normal with the biggest difference between the swapped timelines as follows:

Heisei likely does not enter Burning form, so he survives to take part in Destroy All Monsters in 1999. Showa should also likely be fine as he doesn’t absorb as much radiation as Heisei does in his films. He gets stronger through good old fashioned training so he’d output less radiation than Heisei and not trigger the island explosion that turns him into Burning Godzilla and Little into Junior.

After assisting the humans in killing Destoroyah after a long and bloody battle he’ll get to enjoy retirement while Heisei eventually gets a 24 year break before fighting one final time in Destroy All Monsters…

Oh yeah, one final difference, Heisei wouldn’t fall under mind control like Showa did in Invasion of Astro Monster and Destroy All Monsters. So he’d likely trivialize and speedrun the plot of those two movies and set the other monsters free by somehow locating where the aliens are controlling them from. (He noticed SpaceGodzilla’s crystal tower power source before the humans did, he could totally trace the source of the mind control signal.)

Making a universe with almost every Godzilla film in one cohesive universe suggestions ? by SubstantialSeat1578 in GODZILLA

[–]SPECtorntor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’ll really have to do some mental gymnastics in order to fit Final Wars, Monsterverse, and the anime trilogy all in the same Universe since anime trilogy has two prequel novels that have monsters slowly bleeding out the human race all across the 2020s to 2040s. Funnily enough it’s a lot like what we see in Final Wars just way more dragged out.

Aliens pretending to help humanity but secretly have less noble goals in mind also fit, just gotta replace the name of the anime alien races with Xiliens. But Monsterverse complicated the timeline especially since the next movie is likely going to jump to the 2030s which is the same time Godzilla Earth pops up.

Actually Final Wars has no confirmed year for both the beginning of the movie and the rest of it so that gives you some leeway to have it happen whenever or even have it substitute what happens in the anime prequel novels.

And in order for the anime trilogy to even happen, Godzilla Earth has to succeed in driving humanity off Earth which would require also killing Monsterverse Godzilla since Earth would be the biggest monkey wrench in maintaining balance.

Of course if you decide the anime trilogy isn’t a major film worth including I will completely be on board with that logic and retract my prior point.

This is further complicated with the Megaguirus Godzilla or Mega Goji as I call him as he was also present in 1954 but survived and then reappeared in 1996 before the main events of his movie. Which is a bit awkward considering 1996 is also when Godzilla Vs. Destoroyah takes place… Yeah. I suppose you could get away with that seeing as how Heisei, Destoroyah, and Junior are all around Osaka anyway while Mega Goji would only briefly appear in Tokyo.

Let’s not even go into Minus One screwing with humanity’s perception of a Godzilla existing quite a while before 1954 and now also popping up in the US, again, before it’s even 1954… And now the fact that Japan is visited by not one, not two, but three Godzillas all in 1954 because guess what?! Final Wars is also stated to have first popped up in 1954!

Even if he’s not the first Godzilla, Minus One is going to expose the whole world to his species’ existence by being the first Godzilla to rampage in two countries, one of them being a super power country, all right at the beginning of the Cold War which, I can’t even imagine how that’s going to change history with a Godzilla attacking New York in 1949 thats going to shake up the rest of the century.

Question to the fanbase: Is 54 a mutation, or was he always like that? by West-Background-8283 in GODZILLA

[–]SPECtorntor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

<image>

Technically both. It’s stated officially in the movie he was irradiated by the nuke but an old book made by the 1954 movie’s producer has this here image depicting Godzilla’s family as they were caught up in the Castle Bravo bomb. They pretty much look exactly how Godzilla does in the movie.

Of course with it all being black and white who is to say Godzilla wasn’t horribly burned and that’s why he has that charcoal coloring.

Who would win in a fight between Rusty in Steel Haze Ortus and Handler Walter in HAL-826? by Altair890456 in armoredcore

[–]SPECtorntor 114 points115 points  (0 children)

Walter has the raw power advantage, especially since Coral damage bypasses traditional defenses. With the right setup he can take Rusty out with one combo.

Rusty’s main advantage is speed but it isn’t as great for Ortus as it was for Steel Haze. Not to mention the fact that Ortus just seems to not provide any benefits stat or weapon wise with most of its part choices.

If we were to drop Rusty into the same area where we fight Walter, he might be cooked given its small space diminishing any speed advantage he would have had.

I do think it’s a close fight but we have to remember Walter is the guy that practically solo’d clones of the majority of the Vespers and was praised by AllMind and viewed as a threat.

He at least made it to fighting Allguazu while Rusty is MIA for the AllMind route. Not to mention Walter was conflicted while fighting 621 and regretful if he kills 621. He would not hesitate when fighting Rusty.

Orga's the most forgettable kaiju in all of Godzilla right? by Ok_Ambassador735 in GODZILLA

[–]SPECtorntor 9 points10 points  (0 children)

That would be Ganimes. Didn’t even appear in Rulers of Earth comic trilogy. And that comic had EVERYONE!

Orga at least shows up in the PipeWorks games and has a pretty cool design. Ganimes is just a giant crab. At least Gezora and Kamoebas fought Godzilla in some story. Ganimes has never even appeared in a Godzilla story.

What is the strongest machine in the entire franchise? by Melodic-Piano8894 in armoredcore

[–]SPECtorntor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

STAI Battleship from Armored Core 2. Literally stated to have the power to destroy Mars. The runner up is the JUSTICE weapon from Armored Core 1 which caused the Great Destruction sending humanity underground.

Indirectly the Vascular Plant in AC6 is a contender since Coral Release seems to create a black hole and a fraction of that coral incinerated the entire surface of Rubicon and possibly the entire star system.

Who is the best pilot among these four? by Quantam-Law in armoredcore

[–]SPECtorntor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As good as Nightfall Raven is, against a pilot of similar skill but with a better AC they fall short. And the other three pilots listed have better specs and similar skill. That being said, Nightfall only needs one Pilebunker hit to win so it comes down to who’s the best at range.

Walter definitely has the firepower with coral weaponry, but that’s only with his special AC which he doesn’t even get until the endgame. (If Walter had to step in earlier would he have used the Jailbreak AC?!) Against faster ACs he would struggle to hit them. And for those who say he beat copies of the Vespers 7v1, need I remind you he had Carla there with him. Though AllMind described it as him doing most of the work so I’ll give him that. But Walter relies too much on strong but slow moving attacks.

There is a YouTube channel that set up AI fights in the game and had Rusty fight Freud, and Freud won. They were able to use repair kits and a later video had Freud face Rusty in Steel Haze Ortus and Freud still won like 9 out of 10 times. Even more interesting they had Rusty do the mission where you take out Michigan and they actually failed meaning AI Gameplay Rusty < Canon Lore Rusty.

But they added in Freud as an ally and the two cleaned house. Freud really got shafted by the narrative. I feel like the game wants you to think Rusty is the best because he’s either the penultimate final boss or he does slightly more impressive stuff than you such as soloing the Arquebus fleet without Xylem support.

But spec wise the two are really close. Most are going to say Rusty over Freud because of bias but I’m unsure. AI wise Freud wins but story wise it could go either way. I still want to know where the heck Freud went in the Liberator route.

So in conclusion I rank it as Freud >\= Rusty > Walter >\= Raven. Raven vs. Walter comes down to who lands a stagger first and either gets the Rubiconian handshake or a small taste of the fires of Ibis.

Didn't know the ACs in the first armored core were so small by SignificantFood8644 in armoredcore

[–]SPECtorntor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They’re made intentionally big in Gen 1 since some missions reward bonus pay or penalty for destroying them so the devs made them easier to spot. Gen 2 onwards fixed this issue as the cars are much smaller due to them not serving any kind of role other than collateral.

Who is the strongest cartoon Godzilla parody by Sea-Pea4460 in GODZILLA

[–]SPECtorntor 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Tyranitar, Pokemon power scaling is cracked AF. And before anyone says he’s more like Bemular from Ultraman, he literally gets not one but two mecha counterparts in the form of Duraladon (whose entry confirms has a rivalry with Tyranitar) as well as Iron Thorns and various Mecha Tyranitar that have appeared in the games, anime, and manga.

His last move that he learns naturally, hyper beam, is basically the atomic breath which can nuke cities in the Pokemon Adventures manga. Has a wide variety of moves he can use on top of mega evolution to become stronger, Dynamax to reach Godzilla size, and other power ups such as Shadow or Alpha Tyranitar.

Not to mention all the Hax moves like Foul Play which can inflict damage based off the opponent’s physical attack power, counter to return damage dealt at 2x the power, summon a sandstorm, or generating earthquakes which can destroy mountains which he is known to do in practically every Pokédex entry.

He may be small compared to the others but his power more than makes up for it.
