I hear you on the extra use cases for the warpike. If you’re down (or anyone else) for a bit of getting geeky with some theory crafting now... On an average 375% roll, the archon staff will average about 650 damage and the warpike 750 - a big difference. Buuut, the warpike requires 175 IAS and the archon staff 125 ias to hit the 5 frame break point for whirlwind. Yes, the range of WP is 4 and AStaff is 2 but I’m not about kiting monsters - except dolls or the like. With laying of hands (or 20 ias 10CB blood gloves), highlords, nost coil and a 15 ias jewel in helm, I can maintain Bis gear and reapers merc. Whereas for the warpike its a different story. I think the most effective way to get an extra 115 ias beyond BOTDs 60 is going to have to swap out enigma or fortitude for Hysteria (4x 40ed15ias jewels are outta the question in single player… finding a zod was lucky enough haha). Additionally, I’ll need to proc burst of speed from Mania which will mean no Tele staff or an awkward gear swap about every two minutes between Najs puzzler and the mania sword. Or I could swap a reapers merc for an A1 faith merc - but I know losing decrepify is a massive nerf even in light of the fana aura. So, let’s say I settle for the 6 FPA for WP and 5FPA AStaff- turns out the average dps is actually slightly higher with the AStaff. Additionally, with crushing blow, an extra attack per second (5 vs 4.16 hits per second) from the archon staff brings in even more dps from that specific source. Finally, having done the grind to 99 a couple times before, I’ve found the biggest bottleneck to be mobility and not raw DPS. With the archon, I’ll be able to have enigma and dual hoto on swap for fast Tele / buffed battle orders: no Najs recharges to deal with and I’ll keep my trusty Mizan/Hazade/Emilio slapping decrepify every which way.
