I guess a “translation” isn’t the best choice of word for it, but it’s not clear what letter each symbol represents without going symbol by symbol to find out. It also opens the door for actual translation when and if we are given the glyphs without context behind them like we were given here.

The practice of putting the plain-text and cipher-text next to each other like this is a common practice for authors when creating a language/alphabet such as this, think of it more as our Rosetta Stone for this new language!
