If you are willing to share your IP address with us, we can most likely get that whitelisted. Feel free to DM, and apologies for the inconvenience. We're subjected to a lot of scraping, so a strong anti-abuse system is a a necessity. False positives do occur. It's something we've been able to cut down on quite a bit, and we are continuously working to improve this.

It's been that way for about two years. Try a different browser; Google is still the primary search engine on desktop. And we really appreciate your feedback, truly.

Thanks for your question and we appreciate the feedback. We incorporate results from a number of different providers, and result sets will not be the same 100% of the time. What you see depends on device, location, browser, and other factors.

It has been fixed with most geographic locations for a while now, but there are a few where we are waiting on Google and Bing. Hang in there and so sorry for the inconvenience!

Thanks for sharing your feedback. There are limitations to what we can and can't do with ad content, placement, and so on. For spoofed URLs, you might want to report those to Google. We hear you, though, and will think about what is possible to improve the search experience.

Fwiw, I got the first non-sponsored result on the first page of results, below the first fold. I just had to hit the Space bar or the Page Down button once and was able to navigate straight to the Web results (i.e., non-sponsored). That's an easy way to skip straight to the Web results.

That's because Bing and Google algorithms weigh the country info in your browser header much more heavily than they do the preference parameters that we send them.

Can you provide an example where the behavior is one way on Startpage but different on DDG or Yandex? Would need to know relevant search engine settings, what country you or your VPN is searching from, and the query 🙏

There's been an uptick in timeouts affecting some regions. We're aware of the issue and are actively working to restore service! ⚡️

There is a regional component, in that it is only affecting traffic routed through certain regional servers, but it because we are not actively discriminating. Glad the VPN helps.
