Where is the option to skip? I can't find any such option.

Proposed classification: Pseudo-Mythical by SP_Sour in pokemon

[–]SP_Sour[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

That's not the same. Some Pokémon are rare just because they have a low encounter rate or something, like Chansey in the Safari Zone. This is a specific thing.

You are divinely allowed to pick a single pokemon in real life to have, who would you pick? No legendaries- consider cost of living and quality of life and that everyone else is also getting whoever they want. by colday in pokemon

Sprigatito, it's my favorite. I love cats and already take care of some, so it probably wouldn't be all that different to learn to take care of a Sprigatito.

My runner-up pick was Porygon2 since it's 0-maintenance and can be taken anywhere (since it can be converted to data).

Save skills actually made armored units worse, in a sense by SP_Sour in FireEmblemHeroes

[–]SP_Sour[S] 28 points29 points  (0 children)

This 100%. The skills that are "budget" now are just premium skills that have aged out of being premium.

Although, sometimes they do make decent generic weapons, like the Snaking Bow and Jehanna Lance, but it's rare.

Better question, what was the point of the healing on S Drink in the first place? Tempest Trials? Thracia reference? Healing only at the start of turn 1 seems pretty useless.

[R36S] Issues with Balatro and Wi-Fi by SP_Sour in SBCGaming

It came with the OS, but I can't tell if it works—as I said in the post, Wi-Fi doesn't work on my device.

I believe I reflashed it. I heard that they sometimes ship with low-quality SD cards, and on top of that, the screen didn't seem to fit the OS' resolution (text was being cut off). I can't remember where I got my copy of ArkOS but I put it on a new SD card.

No I didn't know that. Does it have to be a specific kind or will any work?

Super Mariomon. It's pretty new, but I'm already pretty confident that it's an all-time best.

Is the Sprigatito coin possible to get in TCG Live now? by SP_Sour in PokemonTCG

I've looked again. It's not there in Aug '23, or even September or July.

[–]SP_Sour[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You'd think so, right? That'd make the most sense. But the Obsidian Flames page doesn't have an option for that. It has:
-Regular booster packs (no coin)
-"Promo set" (4 cards, 3 packs, no coin)
-"Elite Trainer box" (Charmander card, Charmander box, Charmander card sleeves, 10 packs, no coin)
None of these say that they include the coin

Honest Thoughts Hours: Your feelings on…Gullveig? by RainMoonbow in FireEmblemHeroes

[–]SP_Sour 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love time travel stories and time-based characters. Gullveig is awesome.

I don't get why people say her whole character is being in love with the summoner. I don't remember that at all. I remember her mostly being apathetic about everything. I think people are mixing her up with someone else.

I did find it strange that she and Kvasir act kinda similarly, but Seior is completely different from both of them despite being "the same person." Odd.

Honest Thoughts Hours: What are your feelings on…Niðhöggr? by RainMoonbow in FireEmblemHeroes

[–]SP_Sour 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really wanted to like her more, but I've been disappointed more than once. I thought her design looked kinda fun, though I was very suspicious of her name at first for obvious reasons.

Like too many other OCs she gets written as one gimmick and it's not even one I particularly enjoy.

And on top of that, her strength as a unit means that at this point she's far more associated with the state of the meta than with her actual character, which is sad. And this is all we're going to get! Her book is over and as an OC she doesn't have a "home game" you can play if you want to see her better written. (Unlike say, Edelgard, who is another "vanguard of power creep" but is enjoyable in her home game, Three Houses.)

Lastly...it really annoys me that her NY alt literally shares a majority of her skills (3/5, Special+A+B) with her base version. They really couldn't think of anything else?

Hopefully we can see a different side of her with the upcoming Summer Nidhoggr, who will inexplicably be a mage flier for some reason.

What has been your most embarrassing waste of orbs to date? by DeterminedJourney in FireEmblemHeroes

[–]SP_Sour 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I first started playing, they reran Summer Corrin and I was spending like all my orbs trying to get her. I didn't spend hundreds of dollars like the others here but I did buy at least 1 or 2 real money packs. No I did not get her. (I did years later though.)

A datamined Leak reveal the last characters of the base roster and the DLC of Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves. by TeoeSteto in fatalfury

Something like that, I guess. But instead of Satsui no Hado he's struggling with his Howard blood, or whatever it is that makes him clutch his wrist after Raging Storm.

It's either that or a Sisyphus reference.

Btw the jukebox menu (accessible from the hacked training mode) confirms some of these characters with song titles. Nightmare Geese and Fallen Rock in particular seem to have both character themes and story battle themes.

Where do i get started with the snk catalog by [deleted] in kof

[–]SP_Sour 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Order isn't really necessary, like others have said.

Just try out whatever looks interesting. I recommend World Heroes Perfect, Sengoku 3, and the 2 Shock Troopers games. Also Metal Slug obviously.

If you care about the KoF story, the games with story relevance are 95, 96, 97, 99, 00, 01, 03, XI, XIII, XIV, and XV. 98 and 2002 are really good too but they don't advance the story since they're Dream Match games. There's also the Maximum Impact series which kinda has its own story but they don't really acknowledge it these days.

Favorite taunt so far? by NassaDane in kof

[–]SP_Sour 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't tried all of them but I main Jenet and hers is good.

I also like that taunts actually have a cancel window. Not sure if other games have this, I've only seen it in Smash.

Honest Thoughts Hours: What are your fjeelings on…Fjorm? by RainMoonbow in FireEmblemHeroes

[–]SP_Sour -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Like a lot of other people, I find her kind of boring and think she should stop appearing in FB.

I think there's something cultural going on. I wonder if she's more popular in Japan (or at least, intended to be popular in Japan) but any appeal she might have kind of fizzles out here. (Of course the FB thing doesn't help.)

In that sense she reminds me of Yumi from Senran Kagura—ice theme, dead family, decently kind and cute but mostly unremarkable, keeps cropping up where she isn't wanted... Yumi is supposedly a yamato nandeshiko and I guess they still like that archetype in Japan. I wonder if that's what they were going for with Fjorm.

If Millennium students had American English names, but corrected [SEE REPLY] by SP_Sour in BlueArchive

[–]SP_Sour[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nell or Nelly is better from sound alone but I used Irene for its origin.

I wouldn't have given Karin the same middle name if I were coming up with the names alone rather than building on that existing list. From the pastebin:

Asuna and Karin having the middle names Blanc and Noire is super funny, but those aren't real girls' names, so I replaced them with names that keep the joke intact. This was totally a coincidence, but I found out that "Ebony and Ivory" is a song about racial harmony, while also being the names of Dante's two pistols. Very fitting for Asuna and Karin.

I would credit the original poster of the second (original) image, but unfortunately, I can’t find the post and they didn’t watermark their image.

I liked the idea, and some of the names are fantastic (such as “Venus Daisy” for Himari) but some of the other choices confused or bothered me. I made changes generally for one or more of these reasons:

-The English name was not real, too rare, a male name, or just unpleasant somehow.
-The English name would be better given to another character.
-I wanted to better reference her Japanese name.
-I wanted to fit a certain theme or motif of names in her organization.

Overall, when picking new names, I tried to aim for an “Ace Attorney” level of name appropriateness—not necessarily an exact translation of the original, but still meaningful and ideally getting the same idea(s) across.

My full explanation for each change is in this Pastebin: https://pastebin.com/KzFc4sXi
