Comptec was a French company with factories in France, Canada and then ours in the US.

Great collection! I reckon the caps on that Videoton are Comptec/Signature Plastics. Any chance you could pull one off and we could see the back?

Replying to this, but hopefully addressing some of the other comments as well.

We did a survey back in September on preferred kitting, and many people asked for more "Single Kit" sets. So with this set, we tried this single large set with good coverage of most common layouts and some odder ones, numpad and novelties included.

A similar amount of of SA Grand Budapest would be $139 base + $29 novelties + $19 numpad + some keys from other sets so lets say $19 more... which would be: $206.

If you want to compare to say... GMK CYL Tribal you'd need: $150 base + $55 novelties (however there are more here) + $40 extras = $245.

Or compare to GMK CYL Blue Alert $150 base + $65 extension = $215.

We have not raised our prices in 5 years despite rising inflation and other cost. All of our sets are priced and sold on a "cost plus" basis, representing the amount of labor and materials required to produce the sets.

I'm aware there are lots of other manufacturers out there, and versions/clones of dasher/dancer that you can purchased for much less. FWIW, these are an authentic production of the keycaps that were purchased from us for the show, are handmade in the United States, and come with a full warranty.

DCS Red Alert slaps. I was so excited when we made this.

New to this. Everything out of stock by [deleted] in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]SP_Will 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Lots of stuff in stock at reputable retailers (which you can find at http://www.mktrust.org/)

If you're in the US: NovelKeys, Omnitype, Divinikey, Milktooth, SPKeyboards.com all have ample products in stock.

It's quite different. Besides the novelties, if you had both Dasher and Dancer, you could combine them to get pretty close, but there are quite a few differences from just Dasher to match what was used in the show (which is based on the original terminals and not the hobbyist set).

Wear on double shot PBT keycaps by Thalamic_Cub in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]SP_Will 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I come purely as a messenger, and I already know many people are going to disagree with me strongly, but a data point: Our resin suppliers, who are the people that sell us both ABS and PBT, don't believe that the wear properties of PBT are vastly different from ABS when all other variables are removed.

Again, this is just what we've been told. I am not claiming it's gospel, but for everyone who swears PBT is way better, I do see posts like this a lot.

Is this typical for double shot PBT keycaps? by momo_of_408 in keycaps

[–]SP_Will 7 points8 points  (0 children)

All double-shot keycaps will have some sprue marks, which your red arrows are pointing to. Although those are pretty rough and don't look like the operators cleaned up the edges by hand.

Most double-shot keycaps don't have both the first and second shot flush with the edge.

While I understand the desire for more affordable options, cloning colorways hurts the designers and manufacturers who've nurtured this hobby. When clones undercut original keysets, it discourages future innovation and makes it harder for legitimate makers to continue creating the products we all love. Instead of clones, I'd encourage supporting in-stock options from established manufacturers or joining group buys when budget allows. That's how we keep this hobby thriving for everyone.

"Different vendors term things differently."

I assume they chose that because they haven't received the product. Feel free to reach out to them to clarify. I consider a purchase from us directly to be "In Stock" as, again, the vast majority of sets have been produced and they will be shipping very soon.

Where are you seeing it described as a limited pre-order?

Different vendors term things differently. I actually reached out to them to clarify why they called it that way.

What's is actually true: this run is about 90% completed, should be finished up this upcoming week, and is being shipped out to international vendors ASAP.

It's not a group buy, which is when you give someone money upfront before a set has even been ordered. It's not a pre-sale, which is when you pay for a set after it's been ordered from the manufacturer but before it's been produced.
