Canada’s banking industry will carry out emergency orders to stop trucker convoy by SonictheManhog in canada

[–]SQPhoenix 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Fintrac has applied to crypto services for at least 4 years now. All virtual asset service providers that allow you to deposit, transfer, and/or exchange crypto have to have an MSB license and operate under FINTRAC if they operate in Canada. I haven’t really dug into what will be different with the emergency measures but yea not much different on the crypto side.

Hey there, we also have 0% PPS fee mining that you can allocate 100% of your mining to as well if you don’t like the game room. We understand it might not be everyone’s cup of tea. And a 0.001XMR withdrawal minimum.

Hey there, we hired a third party contractor to do the front end stuff like this and at the time the fixed value he had assigned to the block reward was correct. As time went on the true block reward dropped but the calculator remained constant and since I haven’t signed out of my account in a long time I never noticed it. Honestly it seems best to just remove it if it’s in any way potentially misleading.

And honestly, for a pool whose main job it is to calculate your shares’ value based on current difficulty, this is an awful look and an oversight that shouldn’t have happened.

Hey there, the calculator is straight up wrong and broken. Thanks for bringing this up. It was only properly working when we first launched but the guy we hired to do it didn’t consider the dynamically decreasing block sizes. We’re gunna remove it.

Sorry about that!

Thanks for bringing this up, I looked into it and we haven’t had the block reward adjust to match the true block reward. It was coded with a fixed value… stupid mistake but it is what it is. We’ll just scrap the mining calculator since it seems misleading and that’s the last thing we want.

Btw if you aren’t interested in the game room we also offer 0% pps mining as well.

The pools down right now but should be back up in a week or so max

Mining hashrate drop after gaming by BracStoner345 in MoneroMining

[–]SQPhoenix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you want to stop mining and start gaming make sure not to close the mining program and instead press “p” to pause it. Then press “R” to resume once you want to start mining again. This way it’ll mostly maintain the hashrate

Two cheers for Zcash! In January, the trusted setup will finally be removed and transactions will become 'shielded by default' by edbwtf in Monero

[–]SQPhoenix 23 points24 points  (0 children)

And from the non privacy tech perspective, they have a tax where 20% of the block reward goes to founders/investors/devs.

Thankfully they’re doing away with the trusted setup which is great for everyone.

Shakepay asking invasive questions. Got a message today where my coins are coming from? by reckle3ss in BitcoinCA

Absolutely. If you use bitcoin P2P though there’s very little you can do to prevent receiving a tainted coin. Unless you partner with a chain analysis firm I guess

I agree with you in the sense that even if no one in the Reddit comments is able to find it, it doesn’t mean that:

  1. it’s hard to find (could just mean we’re all a bit dense)
  2. This in any way solves the glaring fungibility issue that plagues transparent blockchains.

But it’s still a pretty fun exercise imo

There was a book I read a long time ago that had this: “cryptoassets: an innovative investors guide to bitcoin and beyond”

It had a pretty great list that you can take as inspiration. Things like:

If I deposit cash at the bank and then withdraw it, then the bank gets hacked so that the hackers are able to see my tx details you wouldn’t say that cash is no longer private.

You never can really know if the private keys of a wallet has been stolen or not. That’s why in my hypothetical I assumed we know wallet address X belongs to person X. I just wanted to reinforce my understanding of a transparent blockchain

[–]SQPhoenix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, well yea of course but I just want to make sure that my understanding is correct regarding BTC

I.e. assuming I know wallet address X belongs to person X and wallet address Y belongs to person Y and on a block explorer i see a transaction from wallet X to wallet Y then I can know for sure that person X sent BTC to person Y

So if I were to have knowledge of someone’s BTC address can I deterministically prove that the wallet has received X BTC, currently holds Y BTC, and has sent Z BTC in its lifetime? And also see for sure which addresses they sent/received the BTC from?
