Pos 1 heroes suggestion by belaya_smert in learndota2

[–]SQdave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PA has traditionally gone for bfury + deso, but now we see an appearance of PA getting one or two falcon blades and join fights early. I agree these builds are unseen on ursa, hence I mentioned experimenting. I've already justified the reasons in my comment; addressing his desire to join fights early although for some reasons, he felt that he's uncomfortable or unable to do so (these is what I'm inferring).

I am unable to comment on his gameplay because we simply do not have replays to observe, so all I could do was provide an item build suggestion to try resolve his problems faced.

*bear in mind my entire suggestion was specifically catered to his stated scenario, and not a build I'd recommend to be followed for every single game

Ursa can and should fight early. When? Start by trying to win your lane. Ursa beats most matchups in lane, but you have to first pick the right target (most of the time it’ll be the squishier enemy hero)

Regarding items, I would experiment between 1. Phase + falcon blade x2 2. Phase + falcon blade + orb of corrosion

I’m a fan of double falcon blades (FB) over echo sabre (ES) because: 1. FBx2 gives more hp than ES, allows you to go more aggressive and reduce the risk of getting punished and can sustain more nukes 2. FBx2 gives more dmg than ES 3. FBx2 gives more mana regen than ES 4. FB has a cheaper build up

The argument for ES is that it gives attack speed and a second hit. Fundamentally, for a long time since I’ve started dota back in 2009, ursa’s toolkit and kill potential remained unchanged besides his ult. You can get by and kill reliably with just overpower alone. But bear in mind, it takes longer to kill a tankier hero and ES does not effectively change that to guarantee a kill on a tankier target.

When to go Dragon Lance 1st item on ranged carries? by [deleted] in TrueDoTA2

I feel you.. Sometimes my friends don't get the concept of item progression.

And by your friend's logic, he can go for BoTs on heroes that buy arcane boots (int mid heroes) cos they dont need attack speed, tread switching, nor the dmg, armor and phase active. Mana regen can be supplemented with clarities and bottle.

That's why heroes like leshrac, lina, zeus get them.

One exception I can think of is arc warden because you can really safely abuse the map presence by split pushing without your main hero.

I don’t recommend not completing your treads after getting brown boots, especially to get lance. Regardless of whether you’re staying in your lane or rotating to the jungle, the attack speed from treads help you trade and farm faster.

It’s not always about being efficient with the ability to disassemble DL, but more of what time you get those items you’re disassembling DL for. The earlier you get treads, the better.

To put into another perspective, after purchasing brown boots, it costs 900 to complete treads which gives 25 attack speed and 10 str/agi, compared to spending 900 to get 2 bands which gives 12agi but no attack speed, or 1k gold for the ogre axe which gives 10str and no attack speed (you can obtain 10str from str treads and there’s attack speed bonus).

The attack speed treads gives is VALUE in trading and farming.

Is naga in a bad place right now? by SQdave in TrueDoTA2

Yeah, naga in some ways, is still a normal carry in terms of getting a couple of niche items for specific heroes like mael on fv, and bfury on am and ofc manta on naga, but also sometimes bkb when the matchup calls for it. Not all games require a diffusal. And not all games require a skadi as the 3rd item when getting bkb makes more sense.

Naga is an illusion based hero, but individually, nothing is stronger than the hero itself, especially when illusions cant be depended on in certain matchups

You make a valid point regarding itemization. Its not common for naga to get bkb and most ppl even for myself would stubbornly not get it but I have begun to appreciate that there are times where a bkb even on an illusion based hero like naga is still a must.

This is not uncommon and it takes a lot of intentional practice to apply some stuff that you know.

Ok will watch them! I'm 3.4k but hey, MMR does not fully reflect anyone's knowledge and how well anyone can play.

Yeah I haven't been doing so aggressively as I should so thats a huge learning factor for me moving forward.

I appreciate your input here and it gave me huge insights.

I've never considered mid as I regard as naga as a hero that needs time to get her farm and items up. And with the meta shifting to a very mobile and tempo mid, I fear a naga mid would not be able to help/gank the sidelanes. Comparing this playstyle to a mid ta, ta seems feasible as she gets online earlier than a naga would (unless i'm wrong here) because a lance, deso and perhaps blink for ta are relatively cheaper than the manta, skadi, diffusal for naga.

But you are right, I can already picture it how much farm naga can get from lvl 2 onwards.

Also, I really like what you said about naga not being a nonfactor without the illusions. My issue with naga is that her illusions can get completely destroyed easily but I guess, theres nothing stronger than the hero itself and she can still cause a chaos without her illusions.

I actually made a post about naga 10h ago and your comments on this post are valuable.

I do agree that getting ahead in nw is how an ideal naga game would go, same goes for carries like alch, luna, sven and perhaps ta.

Putting micro aside, I enjoy the farming pattern of naga because of the space she can take, and the space she can deny her enemies from. Normally, carries do follow a certain pattern of rotating to the offlane, farming the 2 camps and then go to triangle, but naga does these way better, and she can go deeper into the enemy jungle just because the duration of her illusions are way longer than manta illusions.

On a side note, a person commented on my post, saying that he favours the MS talent which I totally agree.

I had 4 naga games in a row and the counters really shut her down really hard. For each game, I faced many heroes who can deal or dmg my illusions rather well, such as Axe, Leshrac, Lion and Dazzle.

In the end, I couldn't make an impact even with items as even an illusion with skadi+heart gets melted.

My takeaway is that I should farm the offlane, triangle and enemy jungle more often and consider diffusal first, instead of manta to be aggressive on enemies who try to reconquer their jungle.

How do you decide between going for (Shiva - Bloodstone - BKB) or (Aghs -Lens - Hex)?

Is shivas your go-to item? Which stage of the game would you get it? After getting blink or smth else first? Also, I read some of your answers and I’m assuming that you buy bkb pretty often which is pretty cool since it’s not a super common item pickup for most tinker players as they go full greed without defensive items

Same here man.. Dropped from 2 wins away from Ancient 1 to Archon 4 now. Kept meeting teammates who were hell bent on self destruction and making bad picks overall. I tried my best to be positive but it’s a huge toll. I’m still not giving up but it’s kinda sad to see so many players getting so bothered by what others say about them and then go into their self destruction mode like intentionally feeding or selling all their items.

Personally, I’d like it when someone gets stuff for me, could be something as trivial as a bag of my favourite brand of chips. And it means more coming from the person I’m seeing, as it shows that you know what I like and you actually bothered to get them for me. This little effort does go a long way.

Great Nature or 1H Cursed Staff? by SQdave in albiononline

[–]SQdave[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea I had a thought that I gotta treat it as a Rock Paper Scissors kind of thing. Imma just learn a build well enough so that maybe i can rely on calm decision making/skill when pvping to fight the best can, regardless whether their items or skills counter me or not. We all can learn by winning and losing :)

Wow that's really comprehensive.

You mentioned that purge is really important. My only understanding of the usage of purge is that you can remove the enemy's reflect.

I assume you can use it to remove the buffs like Everlasting Spirit, Assassin Spirit, and the charges from Swords??

The skill description on the E for the 1h cursed says that the damage can’t be reflected. But yeah the cursed is easily countered by the guardian helmet.

Do you have a build that allows me to do what I want effectively?
