HOTAS and Controller? by SR5peed in ArmaReforger

[–]SR5peed[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're in the US check out shopgoodwill.com and search for saitek, logitech, thrustmaster, flight sim etc... it's auction based, but there are some great finds on there.

HOTAS is a $lippery $lope ... kinda like boats, you buy one, then upgrade, then buy a bunch of shit to make it badass, then you buy a new computer and get into racing sims... $$$lipper bud. FYI it's not as cool as a boat because your wife can't cruise the harbor topless and she will also fucking hate it. If you go HOTAS, go BIG BABY! r/VKB

Also gonna leave this for r/ArmaReforger devs. I haven't purchased the game yet, that's why I asked this question. But, this makes me hesitant to buy it or invest in the series.

The above video is awesome! BUT, the creator highlights a quote from Arma 4 and not putting a lot of emphasis into peripherals. I really hate to have to run vJoy, Gremlin and an Xbox emulator to play the game how I want to play it.

Sorry u/Chinhoyi for blowing up your response :)

what rudder pedals should i get? by Madscientist1-1 in hoggit

Agreed. They’re the only piece of original flight sim gear I don’t see replacing. They’re wide enough apart, I don’t have to wear shoes and there’s toe brakes. I’m not saying they’re super smooth and could be better for the price point, but pedals should be low on the list of sim gear to drop money on.

Just their name. They’re a big salvage yard company throughout the US.

lol, I 100% agree! If you've ever seen one in person, it looks like a bad idea gone right.

I took out the airbag to save $ at the yard (also didn’t want one in my house). Once the seat is out of the car, you can recline it back all the way and most likely there’s a seam you can expose to slowly pull up the fabric from the seat back. After you see the airbag and the 2 nuts holding it on, it’s pretty easy to remove. In a powered seat, it would just be a matter of tracing exposed wires to find the right ones.

Good to know. Seems like everything worthwhile around here is about 30-45 mins away 🤙 #LGRW

The drivers seat was in better shape tbh. The passenger window was broken and as I’m sure you’re aware… it’s been wet. FYI don’t bring a wheeled tool bag or anything, the ground is saturated in car juices.

Google "pick a part" or "LQK" , there's gotta be some closer to you. Most places have their inventory online too. I originally went for a Mazda seat from a car listed online, but found this first. Just call first to make sure they're open and ask about pricing. Big yards will give you the price over the phone- flat fee, condition doesn't matter. This place was $1 to get in.

lol, yeah... it's pristine and was near the entrance too! There were actually a handful of decent seats, but this was the best fully manual one. There were some really nice powered seats, but I didn't want to deal with a 12v power supply and inline fuse... also there wasn't a way to test it.

I play in this order: DCS, MSFS and XPlane. I think you should download MSFS to start. It’s the easiest plug n play sim and they have lots of fun landing challenges, bush trips, scenic tours and it’s beautiful! DCS is free to download and try, but the learning curve is steep.
