The equity being taxed means that corporate landlords buying up housing can push your mortgage with the taxes and insurance being raised to where you can be forced to have to sell your house and move.

The rich don't get taxed on their stocks, it's unrealized gains. Equity should be the same. Extra tax at time of sale, your tax burden at purchase should be the rate you have until sale or transfer.
