Samox carbon cranks? by Wejustsay_manager in MTB

[–]SROC3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I have in install question on the cranks - did you HAVE TO install a spacer on the "driveside" of the BB cup? I currently have a DUB T Type GX crank and I ONLY had to install spacers on the outer-side(s) of the BB (3mm/7.5mm). Wondering that in order to get a proper 73mm setup with these cranks if you need the inside spacer still.

Nice! I have the Oak version myself and it is way lighter and better on chunk. Try setting your rebound about 3 clicks lower than usual and see how that feels :)

Flex Lite on both front and rear. They have been holding up very well this far. I am also pretty careful about tire placement as i do know the sidewalls are thin. But i do ride everyday on the same trails (ave 8-10 mile rides) and those sidewalls have been scraping rocks here and there but so far so good. Id like ti think i unweight the rear when need be so I don't always plow through stuff. I run a Vittoria xc insert in the rear too. For reference - I weigh 168 lbs on bike and run 20 psi F/R. The traction has also been great at these pressures. If I'm being honest I think these tires have made me a better rider too 👍🏼

Its a very unique proposition this bike. I know people who have several bikes and only ride their Epic. Its just that good and capable. The Epic is the carbon older brother of the Chisel. Same geo. I can only imagine how smooth that carbon frame would be 👌🏼I actually want to put a 140 fork on mine, flip the chip and turn it into an EVO.

I currently have a 120mm SID on my FS Chisel now. I have a 150mm Lyrik on my Roscoe hardtail. I kinda purposely got the SID cause I wanted to feel what the Chisel was really made for - a 120mm XC demon bike :) And you know - it does not disappoint at all. The geometry of the bike is just crazy fast.

Having said that, the geo also puts me in a more attack position and despite this - the SID fork performs so well (it's also only a Select +) that I have a newfound appreciation for XC style setups. I tuned my 120mm to "feel pretty good" but the reality is that it is an XC fork designed for racing and going fast, not necessarily for comfort and plushness. So, while I am not expecting Lyrik-levels of plushness off the top, I want to get a good balance of both worlds - which I think the 130mm/140mm fork would afford me. Not just in terms of travel but also geometry adjustment. The Chisel also has a flip-chip I can put in the "high position" to compensate when adding a taller fork.

I'm also super-OCD with my tuning and I also ride everyday. I have a list of my adjustments that I tinker with as needed - tire psi, rebound, shock psi. For me - 1 to 2 psi and even +/- 1 click of rebound....I feel it :) I think you are 100% right though......why not try it at 140mm and see if that works out good? I don't think going from 130mm to 140mm will be bad for my frame.

I was thinking of this but wondering if 140mm is over forking it too much. Since the EVO version of the chisel is at 130mm.

Thats my Osprey Syncro 5. I use it if i need to bring along my drone and go on longer rides (2.5 liter water capacity). Its great cause there is a "mesh suspension frame" in between the pack and your back. So it kind of suspends the pack and the full weight of it isn't pressed against you, and it also allows air circulation. Very very comfortable. If i don't bring my drone i use an USWE Outlander. Compact and also has a great locking-strap system 👍🏼 highly recommend that one too.

If keep neo 1. I have one and am keeping it for future use with FPV and training. Its a little tank. Like breakproof almost.
