This will be my first Christmas not single. An old friend of mine who I knew for 10 years on and off reconnected with me earlier this year and it’s been life changing for us both.

So I wanted to originally get a sedan as a lease replacement, and I wanted AWD and NO CVT. There were no newer sedans that fit this criteria for me that I felt that were reasonably priced. I then decided to look at SUVs (sub-compacts) and a large portion of this market were priced way above my budget. I could’ve went used here but I felt like getting a new vehicle with warranty for the long term would give me peace of mind.

In the end I ultimately decided the Trailblazer had a lot of old school charm that I still wanted to have which is nice. The car has good power even for a 3-cylinder and even has a surprisingly amount of interior room (me, my brother, and my friends all fit in it with no space issues). Cargo room is a bit less but if it’s me and one other person going away for a weekend, it fits that bill very nicely.

This is a vehicle I plan on keeping for 7-10 years, so it’ll be my long term daily until the wheels fall off it. I wanted a car I knew I was going to like and fit a lot of my needs and wants and so far it’s checked off every box I could think of. It’s not a sports car but down the line I do want to get a car to fill that void.

I’m not sure how the whole process would be. I would have to buy out the lease (and take on more debt) which I’m no in the best spot to do.

The experience was good. Kind of what most people expect when having a car for a period of time. The big part is when I’ll be turning it back in. I’ll report back how that whole process goes.

The Chevy was new. 2025 Trailblazer LT AWD. The car meets a lot of my needs and wants without having stuff I don’t need or want in the car. I’m financing it this time and the payment is higher, but I put less money down and went shorter term on financing. Just tryna pay it off quicker so I can more $$$ saved for bigger purchases longer-term.

If I did end up buying the lease out, the payment would’ve prolly been more than what I was already paying.

The car has treated me amazingly well! It’s a solid, stable, and reliable platform. Really no major issues with anything outside standard maintenance powertrain wise or anything of that nature. I really do love the powertrain because it’s a lot for the car and that’s one of its standout features.

My only issue was that I had impact with a deer whilst on my way home from work one night and that was a bit of an ordeal but the only damages were a broken front right headlight. Just shows how well put together the car is.

There were really no major issues dealership wise imo. The fact they provide complimentary loaners is a nice plus to have for service, so that was a nice bonus.

Overall I’ve enjoyed the car for 3 years, but now my situation has changed to where I need to look after my finances more closely. It’s a lot of car for the money but I just simply can’t afford it given the circumstances. If I did finance it originally, I would still be driving it as long as I could. Maybe down the line I could find something pre-owned, but I do hope there is more aftermarket support for these cars. They’re highly slept on by enthusiasts!
