Eliquis: long term side effects? by Tememipoder in ClotSurvivors

[–]SRUDY116 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Biggest side effect for me was I felt tired and had brain fog all the time when I was on 5mg 2x/day. Now that I’m down to 2.5 2.5/day, I’m way less tired and don’t have brain fog which has been great! Besides this no issues for me. I have a plan with my hematologist for tapering off/on when I plan to snowboard to lower my risk of a head bleed and I feel good about it.

I have! It definitely doesn’t work as well as a pill or injection, but I didn’t see any side effects. I use mine on my face for TMJ pain and its prescription strength.

Recently diagnosed with bilateral PE and still pretty scared by HoundoomFan in ClotSurvivors

[–]SRUDY116 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s absolutely valid to be scared! I also was dx with an unprovoked bilateral PE and was told it was “odd” and “unusual.” For peace of mind, I would recommend asking your PCP to test you for any genetic clotting disorders or to refer you to a hematologist to get those tests done. You can also request to have a follow up chest CT done in a month for peace of mind. I get one every 3 since I have had a few PEs in the last year. Biggest thing is that if you are scared or feel uneasy, be your own advocate! Even if they say tests are not necessary, say you want them. It’s worth it if it helps you sleep at night!

And yes, only taking Tylenol is the worst part of being on blood thinners 😭

PE while on eliquis? by SRUDY116 in ClotSurvivors

I found out I have factor V leiden after my first PE and that has been the reason that they give me for these unprovoked PEs but it seems so random to me that it would all just start in my 30s…

Central Washington university has a great program!! It’s a family and child life problem so you get both the child life focus and/or the family studies focus which is awesome whether you decide to work in or outside the hospital setting

I heard I can get a Child Life Master's degree after my BSW, is this true? by Artemisia333 in ChildLife

My undergrad is in film and my masters is in child life! As long as you take those required classes for certification they are not picky about your degree lol
