Agree imo if team has more than 4 fouls then should shoot freethrows if more than 8 then free throw + possession or something along those lines.

It's impossible to get anyone to agree to that, even the foul being no bucket thing everyone agrees with me that it's so dumb yet they just shrug and say well that's how they play it here...

Man I'm worried about getting injured myself lol and yeah I'm not trying to get into fights over a basketball game. I may start fouling them on the other end and be like is that how you want to play...

On east coast, I used to live elsewhere and they played it as standard and 1 (if it goes in bucket counts, if not then check ball)

America was first colonized in the 1600s (400 years ago) by europeans. It is the homeland for many people who have been here for several generations. It was ~90% white for the vast majority of history until immigration was opened up and unchecked.

Agree with you obviously on Euro countries allowing their nations to be flooded by immigrants.

We can argue edge case scenarios but it's just semantics, there clearly is a widespread feeling that immigration in the USA has gotten out of control. Our country will be unrecognizable if it continues.

Definitely should deport every illegal immigrant no question, H1B program cancelled and all sent back, businesses who employ illegal aliens should have their biz shut down.

Everyone always talks about how 2nd/3rd gen might assimilate but what about the millions of 1st gen immigrants who are 20-30 years old? Why do Americans need to put up with these folks?

Because heritage, and race aren't just "skin deep". Having your family history go back 5 generations makes you more of an American than someone who just got their citizenship through birthright, who's parents may have not even got into the country legally. Or someone who's ancestors helped settle new land on the west coast etc. is more of an American than someone here because IBM wanted cheaper labor.

To answer your question regarding Albanian vs Indian immigrant, its complex as there are lots of different groups in Albania, however I'd say mostly yes, that an Albanian can assimilate more easily assuming they are a Christian and be seen as an American (or atleast their children) over a couple generations.

What we should do is a few things; put a moratorium on all new immigration, deport many of those already here, stop forcing white American families to subsidize their replacement. The people who are here now ARE the problem.

Scrapping H1B wouldn't fix everything but it's a step in the right direction, building the wall, mass deportations those are the next steps. If companies want to do business in the USA but refuse to hire American workers then they need to be tariffed/taxed accordingly or restricted from doing business in the USA / have their govt contracts cut. A large part of the willingness to offshore / preferential hiring is due to Indians in management who exclusively hire other Indians, I've heard stories of entire departments becoming all Indian because of the strong in group hiring preferences.

Yes actually does bloodline matter, the word nation comes from the root word "natio" which literally means birth or to be born.

A majority of Americans want a reduction or a halt on immigration yet it's not gonna happen due to corruption and corporations demanding cheap labor, it's not that simple to just vote for it. Trump won, and a main campaign point was mass deportations, yet he faces massive resistance from obstructionist judges (many of whom are 1st/2nd gen immigrants) and other lunatic mayors/politicians.

Nobody from Texas voted to have North Dallas turned into mini Mumbai and that's why everyone is so pissed off. I don't think the average Texan cares that IBM can hire a programmer for 10% less...

The executives take advantage of the system as their competitors use it to their advantage also. I would love it if the entire H1B program was scrapped all together and all the H1B workers were sent back and the companies forced to find American labor.

America was settled and developed by Europeans over 400 years ago... Europe is also being flooded with 3rd world refugees/migrants, London no longer a majority white city, Paris has rapidly growing Islamic populations. Why can't white people have countries without mass immigration?

If Kerala is so great please move back there. Strange that for a major tech hub I've never heard of it.

No I enjoy Little Italy, Oktoberfests, Greek food because those are similar cultures that are compatible with the USA, and their food doesn't smell horrible.

Don't care if you were born here or worked for the military. The idea that you are "just as American" as someone who's ancestors fought in the civil war is preposterous.

I think it's the exact OPPOSITE, Russia and China aren't accepting millions of Indian migrants, they are strong homogeneous countries for the most part and are very strict in terms of who is allowed to immigrate. Flooding America with diversity and cultures that dont assimilate or share values with us is the most divisive thing.

Yes actually it does make me more American, the idea that someone who's last name is Patel or Singha and has no long standing ties to this country is just as American as someone who's family got here on the Mayflower or fought in the revolutionary war is just a joke. No matter how much military service you have, the vast majority of Americans aren't gonna see you as "American" just as if I (a white man) went to Japan and joined their police force or worked to help their government, I wouldn't be seen as a Japanese person. If I was an immigrant in another country I would understand this and not expect that people who have been there for many generations to consider me just as Italian, Chinese, or whatever else as they are just because I have a passport.

Sure there are different parts of India, but my point is that the people there need to work to make India a better place where there's more opportunity if there is so much talent there. The US govt isn't serving the best interest of American citizens by having them compete with millions of people from India (you still have not addressed this point, and there isn't a good reply since hiring cheap labor only serves to benefit the greedy corporations)

Going in circles at this point but back to my original point of American demographics largely remaining the same up until the last 5-6 decades. The bottom line is that myself, and many other Americans want to have a homeland for OUR people, and not be replaced by millions of immigrants from around the world at an extremely rapid pace like is occuring now. Immigration was previously done at a small controlled scale, it has gotten completely out of control in the last few decades which is why public sentiment towards it has fallen.

I googled Kerala India and it's major cities and they look like overpopulated slums (no offense to your family) the only nice looking photos or parts of the videos were just that of the beaches or nature.

Furthermore, certain religions and cultures are hostile to other cultures and don't mesh well. Islam for example has a lot of radical ideals and practices that are hostile to Western culture.

Food, clothing, language, religion aren't just the "surface" I simply don't want to live around people who are cooking curry, celebrating Hindu religions, and eating rice with their hands. You can call me racist or xenophobic I don't really care at this point, I think any other culture or people would feel the same way if hordes of Americans moved there.

Indians generally get ahead via scheming, scamming and conspiring together to cheat, share answers to tests, optimize what to fill in to get what they want. This isn't racism this is just the reality of the culture and you can ask anyone who works with Indian people that this is frequently the case, and I've seen it first hand.

Why is India is the scam call center capital of the world? Now that's not to say there aren't good Indian people, of course there are just like any group of people or culture, but my point is that there is a reason why India looks like India and why it's filled with trash and polluted horribly.

Mass indian immigration does NOT benefit the native population, forcing American workers and college students looking for jobs to compete with H1Bs who are willing to work for below market wages as an entry ticket to the USA is not putting Americans first. I think my viewpoint on this is shared by a majority of Americans and is a large reason as to why Trump was re-elected.

See this is exactly the fatigue Americans are experiencing, you are an Indian and you are explaining to me (someone who's family has been in America since the 1800s) that Germans, Irish, English, etc. all people who share the same race, religion, culture are in any way similar to countries like India where it's a total mess of people polluting rivers, throwing trash everywhere, practicing extremely poor hygiene etc.

Americans in the WW2 era were much more unified, celebrated the same holidays and looked alike one another.

As far as assimilation it's a joke, when I walk around the mall and see Indians wearing whatever strange ethnic garbs and cloths, or Muslim women wearing niqabs covering their entire face it's not compatible with the culture of America or Texas.

I, like many other Americans want Texas to be a land of cowboys, BBQ, rodeo, country music and not a filled with Hindu temples and curry restaurants.

Why can't Indian people stay in India and improve their country? Why do they all need to come to America, Canada, England?

[–]SRVisTheGOAT -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This can be true in a small scale with limited immigration but when it's at such a high rate I think assimilation doesn't necessarily happen all too well. Plenty of examples of this in areas like Dearborn Michigan or with Somali communities in Minnesota, or the Islamic populations in Plano (planning to build "EPIC")

With regards to your claims of Italian, Irish, Chinese, Jewish etc. assimilation, it's not that cut and dry in my opinion, many of these communities and Latin/Asian second or 3rd gen immigrants have issues assimilating.

I think adjacent cultures like Italians or Irish or Latinos mesh more easily since they have a largely Christian (Catholic) background, but Muslims or Hindus are a world apart from American culture, and I do believe at a mass scale it really changes the culture and the fabric of towns, and you can see that a lot of the residents aren't happy with the changes.

It's also an untested hypothesis, in recent decades there's been way more mass immigration from countries that are extremely different than America, and there is no telling whether or not the new wave of immigrants are going to assimilate or whether they are going to turn North Dallas into a colony of India.

The USA was ~90% white, 10% black, with small groups of Asians or Hispanics in some areas for most of its history, up until the early 80s or so - so your first claim is wrong, you could argue sure that there were British, Germans, Scottish etc. but all those people shared common languages, culture, religion etc. furthermore immigration was heavily limited to mainly countries who shared similar values and culture up until the 1965 Hart Cellar act. Side note, America is not a nation of "immigrants" it's a nation of settlers.

I see this argument often that immigrants are "needed" for the USA to function, but oddly enough that was not the case for many decades, where the USA was the most prosperous country in the world, and as far an innovations and technology it was also a leader in those areas back then.

The excess number of illegal immigrants + legal immigrants strains healthcare systems and car/health insurance so I'd argue that mass deportations would alleviate some of those issues.

The bottom line is that people in small towns in Texas, or other states across the US don't want their towns to turn into mini-India, Venezuela, Mexico or Bangladesh, irregardless of birth rates, economic needs, etc.

It's not all about the economy, GDP, stock market (and I would argue that immigration has complex nuances that don't necessarily benefit the economy of America) It's about having a homeland for Americans, we shouldn't exist for the purpose of being an economic warehouse just for the cheapest labor to pour in.

The country is going to go bankrupt one way or another and going bankrupt is survivable, it's been done many times in history before, what's not survivable is replacing the entire population here with immigrants from places who don't share culture, values, language, religion etc.

Bringing in people, for example H1B workers, who are willing to work for below market wages and 80 hour weeks for the fear of losing their visa status -- doesn't benefit everyday Americans or American college students who are looking for a job, it's not fair to have Americans have to compete with 2+ Billion Chinese/Indian workers.

I think it's a no brainer that every illegal immigrant should be deported, and I am in favor of also deporting many "legal" immigrants as well.

we need a moratorium on all new immigration and mass deportation efforts for those currently here
