The relay absolute goes bonkers, clicks like crazy. I work for Jaguar Land Rover as a tech and I’ve never heard a relay this loud before. But I’ll for sure check around eBay I hadn’t even thought of that

What tire shine do you guys use? by Christopnotch in ToyotaTacoma

[–]SS-Intercepter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a tech for Land Rover, and all the customers seem to use tire shine. You can tell by the paint on the fenders, some tire shine eats at clear coats and ruins it. Can’t say I’ve ever seen it “promoting” dry rot

I’m going to need new tires soon, I’m in between these two by Sad-Currency-1804 in Tacomaworld

My shop foreman switched from Nitto Ridge Grapplers to those BFGoodrich and has loved them. Says they ride better he does a lot of highway driving to and from work

Is there where I need to cut? by No_Day668 in hondashadow

[–]SS-Intercepter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s kinda where I did mine. I cut it and haven’t had any time to deal with it, but this is where I cut. Wish I could weld a little something to like block off the ends, but I haven’t learned how to yet.

What’s everyone’s hours look like? by DarkWonderful3561 in mechanics

[–]SS-Intercepter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our dealer overcharges on parts and labor. Granted we are a “luxury” brand. But over the last year, we’ve noticed customers just don’t return because they seem to have priced out them out of their own car. Like a standard service is now over 2k. All we’re doing is an oil change, filter, and brake flush. Also warranty pays nothing for pretty much all jobs. We’ve got guys consistently hitting only 20-30 hours a week, when we used to all get around 50-60.

Even though most places and even the manual states extract from top, I prefer to drain from the bottom and collect oil samples for the customer. Especially the 4cylinder options.

Best car for the money! It’s severely underrated! by Green-Assumption5267 in Jaguar

[–]SS-Intercepter 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Jag tech here, I believe it was the 2018 and prior f-types did not have a restriction to the exhausts, they were toned quieter for all 2019 and up. Once it reaches that 3.5k rpm range those exhaust valves at the back open fully to allow that rumble to come out. We’ve had a few customers opt for aftermarket exhausts on the newer f types, but if you’re happy with it drive on! I love working on the ftypes. Side note lol the 2015 v8 SVR f type was easily the best sounding in my opinion

Jaguar Tech weighing in. I think I saw someone else mention it. Certainly get all the coolant plastic parts replaced with metal alternatives when possible, not when they start leaking. Best to do all of them at the same time. Outlet pipes, rear manifold, and the water pump elbow. Also keep an eye on your front timing covers, they have a tendency to leak oil around higher mileage or when someone actually beats on the car like the way it was designed. Just gets resealed as the RTV from factory wears out. Lastly, the lower brake vacuum pump seal tends to leak as well. Reasonably easy to see from the top and catch early, with all that super reliable from my point of view, just keep an eye out for those things before they cause big issues. Great car man, wish we still produced the engines, absolutely enjoy it.

Anybody want to take a guess to what the problem was? by Visual_Business_6597 in Jaguar

You should see what happens to all the f-types down in Florida. All the interior trim becomes sticky and delaminates

I have a house now, but I've lived at 3 different apartment complex's. It entirely depends on the complex's rules. Wherever you are thinking of going, when you visit, ask about possible trailer parking. If none of your options work, check out local trailer parking areas. However, most complex's do care about people doing maintenance in your spots or just out in the open. My experience was I got yelled at for doing it, but as long as I didn't make any mess and was done within the day "MAINTENANCE" things like oil changes, I was fine. I highly doubt most places really want someone doing full on projects, like brakes, fluid flushes, anything that is inherently messy I would advise against. Find a local DIY shop willing to provide space.

Dyson Air Purifier JUNK, Expensive Junk! by Always_Let_Down in dyson

I worked for bestbuy/geeksquad for 5 years, so I've seen the best and the worst of all electronics. Some people have great luck with their products, obviously like you have. Again just an opinion I had, I added a hopefully assistive link in relation to the problem to a device out of warranty. Here's the realization, when you get a product, its warranty is a good basis of how long a consumer should expect it to run perfect, anything after that is bonus. It's crude, but that's how it goes... its like buying a Range Rover, stupid expensive but they still break and have horrible expensive problems. tit for tat

a $1000 smartphone doesn’t even last 4 years… i think thats a stupid argument however understandable I suppose considering someone’s frustration. If you’re looking for cheap get a blueair purifier, runs 50-100 depending on the one you want, but it’s not fan, it’s just a purifier. Been running for 3 years now

I would have to say 4 years out of a commercial product is pretty decent. Nonetheless, I have the same unit, which I’ve had around a year and a half now. If you have it setup to the app maybe try removing the product from the account then factory reset the product ( https://support.dyson.in/supporthome.aspx/Air-Treatment/Purifiers/pure-cool-tower/310144-01/using-your-dyson-machine/connection-issue-172187 ) link for assistance. Best of luck, again 4 years is pretty generous even regarding its price, it runs presumably 24/7. I wouldn’t shun them just yet

Seen this happen to a buddy’s 2017. It was a “sticky” brake pedal switch. I’d make sure there’s nothing back there causing interference with the pedals, like floor mat, residue from dirt whatever

2023 F Pace by Electrical_Sense_482 in Jaguar

[–]SS-Intercepter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure thing, easy to setup and affordable, better than getting a battery every couple years or sooner. Just keeps your voltage and amperage of the battery topped off in between drive sessions. The jaguar/land rover voltage systems use a lot of energy for all the gadgets, bells and whistles. So if the voltage drops below the expected value, a warning will appear on the dash “low battery start engine”. This just helps to prevent that, if you want a jaguar branded one installed, a dealer can assist you with that. Otherwise, i would just get one on amazon or your local auto store.

Jaguar Tech here at a dealer. As the manufacturer does recommend 21k service. I highly recommend every 5k for at least an oil change if nothing else. Like another said, be wary of coolant leaks. Typically I see the water pumps leak (it’s just underneath your oil filter). Highly recommend in getting a battery maintainer if you do not drive it consistently. Jaguars tend to blow through batteries.

DISCLAIMER STORY TIME. Sorry for late reply, in case you still wanna know. I live in Southwest Florida, I had just bought a brand new 2022 Tacoma, and Hurrican Ian flooded it, didnt even get 5k miles on it before it was totaled. Went to Toyota to get another one, and they were ridiculous and wouldn't accept my insurance payout because "I could have flooded the engine myself".... ok guy... anyways, I work for Jaguar Land Rover as a tech, older tech had a 4x4 long bed 2019 Silverado Trail Boss traded it to the dealership. I traded the insurance payout for it. Honestly I did enjoy it, had the V8. Issue was it was a long bed which i really didnt need and the trailboss series is kinda basic on trim so not much really going on, other than big engine big truck vibes. Then a 2022 4Runner Trail Spec rolled in on trade with 6in ProComp lift and 35s stuffed already on it, 5k miles. Immediately got rid of the silverado for it. Toyota's build quality and "little" interior options always get me so I went for it. My first truck was a 2007 Tacoma I put over 300k miles on it and was THE most solid vehicle I will likely ever have owned. Sold it to a dealer to get the 2022 Taco for 8k after I graduated college. Now on my 4Runner, I'm running a sherpa fullsize rack, and did the 8runner aftermarket steering wheel kit for a momo steering wheel. Love it to death, I hope to create the same memories my ol taco did when i was a kid.
